Rev. Sister Annastasia Kinse has been dismissed from the Congregation of Mother of Perpetual Help of the Archangels Sisters after speaking out against alleged sexual abuse of nuns by priests.

Announcing her dismissal on 24 September 2025, she revealed that her letter was dated 21 July 2025, accompanied by ₦100,000 and the seizure of her religious habit.

Her outcry—declaring that “sisters are not priests’ wives”—sparked attention but angered church leadership.

Despite the dismissal, she affirmed: “I am a Catholic, and I love my Church. Above all, I place my trust in God.”

Her case has ignited fresh debate on justice and protection for nuns in the Church.

Message to the Public

I wish to let the public know that on this day, 24th day of September 2025, I received a letter of dismissal from the Congregation of Mother of Perpetual Help of the Archangels Sisters, dated 21 July 2025. A token of hundred thousand Naira(#100,000) was given to me.

When I got to the Convent, I Met that my belongings were already packed outside the room I stayed in, and the religious habits were taken away. I pulled the one I had on and submitted it as well. Therefore, I am currently not in possession of any property of the Congregation.

From my heart, I sincerely thank everyone who has stood by me in prayer and encouragement through this time. Your love and support mean more than words can express.

I am a Catholic! and I love my Church!

Above all, I place my trust in God, whose throne can never be shaken and who never abandons His own.

It's the habit of the roman Catholic church, to whimsically dismiss complaints of sexually abused persons.

From molestation of young alter boys and servants to Rev sisters.

This is supposed to be an internal affairs..to be resolved internally withing the church
I am sure the church has a disciplinary department which would handle such matters instead of rushing to the Internet.
Its completely unprofessional.
I am not in support of the abuse tho, but what if this is a false accusations against someone? What if this is a relationship/business gone wrong nd out of anger, she decides to take strike?
I mean, the matter ought to be brought up to the requisite authorities within the church for judgement to be made withing the church jurisdiction.
There's no family that doesn't have a bad egg, yet we all would try to protect nd cover our families....

Please what is “religious habits”?

Truth be told, any organization would have dismissed her. Imagine exposing your place of work on social media. It doesn’t make it right but it is what it is.

I am asking myself was there no better way for her to handle it then come on social media to put a stain on her religious body, (I am not even catholic)

Still yet, there are uncountable sexual misconducts by Pastors in churches that are not Roman Catholics too.
