Rogue cops will never adhere to this modus operandi. Almost all the cops on the road are there for extortion. If dem no search phone, how dem wán take make money.

But we have heard this several times and still nothing changes...
Nothing will change if we don't take it and run with it. Nobody will give us freedom, we have to fight for it.

I found something outstanding yesterday
The Ghana police force has a TV station dedicated solely to its operations and I saw a lot of professionalism on their part.
What can't Nigeria emulate that

Those ones between the road from Iyana-Ipaja to Ayobo are definitely not police men then

The ones that mount checkpoint just before Opeki busstop, you'll see the policewoman among them stripping guys and searching their boxers for phones and "exhibit"... The woman o

The ones that mount at NEPA busstop and in front of the Police station opposite Rubys will stop Keke and ask the good looking guy to surrender his bag and phone for searching

It's well

Re: Nigeria Police Ban Phone Searches On Roads — IG Issues Stern Warning by holo: 1:36pm On Sep 29, 2025
I really do not have an issue with the police PRO giving this directives. The problem I have is whether the actual policemen on our highways get a hold of the information from their headquarters. Imagine having to confront an overzealous police officer and informing him of this directive from the IG of police. You would have just set yourself for police wahala if you dare mention this.

My appeal to the police is to ensure the officers are educated of these directives before they mount checkpoints on our highways.

Sir who are we to tell NPF not to search our phones
They will correct us with slaps

They will be like "you want to teach me my work"

Oga work kill you there
Talk for yourself, bros. Dem never born any policeman wey i go give my phone/tablet on the road to search.
The problem with Nigerians is fear
This issue has been repeated several times and it's enough for every Nigerian to stand their ground and make reference to the laws of the country plus IGP's statements on the issue whenever intimidated by any rogue in uniform.
What you should do now is to download this video to your phone and play it to anyone that asks for your phone.
Be confident.

Go to Ojuelegba. They seat inside danfo buses.
Go to Oluku junction, Benin. Enter Benin city itself.
Go to Asaba, Delta state, between FMC and Inter BUA.
Go to Lekki - Ajah.

These mentioned areas, no peace of mind with police officers. They do not even want to care if you are a youth or elderly. They forcefully remove your phone to search and beat you in addition to extorting you of huge sums of money. Those police personnel never comply.
Forcefully?? 😂
If you know your rights no policeman has the rights to search your phone.
Them no born you well access my phone and them no born you well beat me because I know gri you access my phone.
You go loose your job that day .
Re: Nigeria Police Ban Phone Searches On Roads — IG Issues Stern Warning by fineboynl(m):
The police on the street has no regards for the laws. They don't respect the IG, FG and their directives. If they really want it to stop they should start with DPO. I don't see how police will misbehave and the DPO not aware. They usually know about it and tell the police officers if they are caught they are on their own. But the officers will settle the DPO if everything go smoothly. Because if some young man hold their ground and the police will end up taking them to the station. But they will not do it officially but at the backyard. And the DPO will pretend they no nothing about it. That why when the youth finally settle the police they quickly make friend with him and try to kill them matter so that he won't come back for them.
If everyone start carry hidden camera it might help.

Bros abeg where are you from? Travel first reach Oluku junction and claim right there. All those who received slaps first before forcefully taking their phones never knew their rights? In the face of “I go shoot you”, in the middle of nowhere, which right do you want to claim?

No let me laugh abeg.
