All Kaduna Tertiary Institutions Embark On Indefinite Strike Over Poor Wages by simonlee(op):
All tertiary education institutions in Kaduna state, which includes kaduna state College of Education Gidan Waya, Nuhu Bamali polytechnic Zaria, Kaduna State College of nursing and midwifery Kafanchan , and kaduna state college of health Makarfi have all embarked on a total and indefinite strike commencing on Tuesday, 30th September 2025.

It will be recalled that the institutions have been in a long standing battle with the state government over the implementation of the COMPCASS & CONTDISS salary structure, which have not been implemented for over 15years now.

Over the years, the kaduna state government have paid its tertiary institutions using the outdated CONTISS salary scale, and to add salt to injury, mutilated it and pays only 80% of the wages to its workers. This have left lecturers with a take home pay of as low as N64,800.

Following several failed MOUs and agreements, most recently the signed agreement for the implementation of the appropriate salary scale by September salary, the government still refused to keep to its end of the agreement, leaving the unions with no choice than to embark on an indefinite strike.

The kaduna state government have also failed to implement the new minimum wage of N72,000 to its workers despite several claims that it had done so. A closer look at the reality from workers alerts shows that many still earn far below the minimum wage sand there is absolutely no consequencial adjustment on the salary scale. Primary school teachers still earn N42,000 as at this very moment.

The unions in its letters have have vowed to stay away from work and keep the institutions shut until government fulfills its agreement and pays them using the appropriate salary structure.

Find below, letters from the unions.

A joke taken too far, Gov Sani met a big mess on ground created by Elrufai. Kaduna had nothing in the treasury, Elrufai had mortgaged the state to the tune of 350 billion naira debt. It takes strategic planning and FG's intervention to help Kaduna state stabilize.

That N350 billion loan has Uba Sani's hand all over it because he was the chairman of the senate committee on banking and insurance and financial institutions and El rufai used him to secure the loan. He was fully aware when he campaigned with the El rufai to become governor so don't cook excuses when he has clearly failed his people. He should implement the agreed salary structure finish!

The person you replied has ran away as usual. They supported El-Rufai for the 8 years he ruled Kaduna state, now they want to throw him under the bus

Uba Sani thinks he can use PR and paid influencers to run a cosmopolitan state like Kaduna. The reality on the ground is a far-cry from what he tries to portray online. From the non-payment of minimum wage to the fraudulent "groundbreaking" on roads that get abandoned, to the commissioning of incomplete projects like the 300-bed hospital, man is living in his own crafted delusion. All traffic lights installed by Elrufai are poorly maintained and Kaduna is no longer as clean and green as it used to be.

Fashola inherited 100 billion naira debt from Tinubu as far back as 2007. Ambode inherited 432 billion naira debt from Fashola. Elrufai inherited over 220 billion naira debt from Ramalan Yero. None of these prevented them from delivering good governance. Tinubu's successor will also inherit debt in trillions of naira. Uba Sani is simply incompetent.

Governor Uba Sani have been playing politics of vendetta while forgetting that the civil servants in those state own institutions and those in government are the ones that can undermine his re-election bid.

You know you guys are always warped in reasoning perhaps due to retrograde amnesia or overt self delusion. Uba Sani was involved in all the alleged financial indebtedness El-Rufai incurred on Kaduna state. So he is culpable. Same way Tinubu has a hand in Buhari's rudderless impactless and directionless govt.

Where's your evidence?, I don't have time for chochocho.

Was Sani the Senate President that approved the loan?. Let the schools go and sue Elrufai if they're serious.

Butterfly is comparing itself to a bird. The biggest state with the biggest revenue that has the capacity to collect debts and repay it. But one small state that's not in the top ten richest states is being compared to Lagos. What a joke. We can see Eko Atlantic, BRT, metro line, Lekki seaport, largest rice mill, take off of Lekki airport, 4th mainland bridge among others. Can you show us the result of Elrufai's 350 billion debt in Kaduna?. If shame was a person.

There you go. I know you won't be back. You will disappear like the stench of a leprous witch. Uba Sani became a senator from being Elrufai's special adviser due to the loan. He replaced Shehu Sani whom the people of Kaduna voted out for refusing to approve the loan. He was the guarantor for the loan. The acquisition of the loan was widely supported by the residents of Kaduna and nothing was hidden. The results are also on ground. You only need to visit Kaduna to see for yourself. Uba Sani is just like Tinubu, they are both masters of treachery and betrayal.

Chochocho.. every lawmaker is tied to their Gov's apron strings. Was Sani the Senate President that approved the loan for Elrufai?

They don't have state university

The state university is not included in the strike because they have a separate salary structure. The state government have always looked down on the other institutions hence the neglect.
