Those people I saw in that bus most of them have not seen N50k at once in their lives. So what do they have to pay ransom?

Our police and military personnels are seriously lacking in courage.

That VDM video where he and his convoy were running towards victims of highway kidnapping was a clear pointer to this, like they literally passed police personnels that were fully armed yet stood doing nothing, by the time VDM retruned to pick up a gun shot victim, the police officers he passed along the way had driven the other way, away from the scene of the kidnap.
It's almost as if the armed forces are joint participants in this epidemic of insecurity. Everytime, it's the poor villagers that are disarmed by the military of the little weapons they're using to protect and defend themselves, while the terrorists are being pampered and giving chieftancy titles.

Omo, when it gets to an extent their relatives will be forced to sell family lands or any other valuable thing they can think of just to pay their ransom o.

The inhuman treatment that will be meted to the victims which they will either share the video or audio with their relatives will make them look for funds anywhere they can. I’ve seen flyers of people crowdfunding ransoms early this year .

Honestly, those are poor people, where will they see money for ransom? I don't understand the motive behind this kind of operation because it's definitely not about money..

Sometimes, it escalates from robbery to kidnap

A church member's friend entered a bus and it was this One chance. After slapping her and robbing her of all belongings, they found her work ID. It was a big hotel.

Na so dem carry her. Beat her to an unconscious state, and then began using her phone to make calls for ransom.

They gathered more than 5 million, before they left her.

They are not lacking in courage, All armed forces and law enforcement, you must always wait for orders. If they dont receive the orders and you engage. even if you save peoples lives, Na discipline you dey face and later turn to you offed innocent bandits without orders

You are already risking your life to engage bandeets, only for your superiors to throw you under the bus

You dont need to be Einstein to see that these activities get the backing of some people whether military brass, politicians or local chiefs

Do you wind down while driving in Lagos ? Omo , I my window is always rolled up and I always central lock either in traffic or in motion .

I don’t give room for anybody to come close to the car and be taking to me about anything .

When I am in public bus I also don’t give attention to any beggar or tout that comes near the window o. It’s because of such experiences like urs above I dey always avoid engagement when I’m in public
Windows were rolled up, but no tint, and I had PC and other stuffs on the passenger side (mistake).

The guy in question came real close to the windows, our face for almost dey touch sef if no be the windows, wound down slightly to pass him the 2K.

Normally I dey return greetings and keep it moving, I would adopt the zero engagement policy going forward, be like na dawan pay pass.

Thing is on a norms, citizens are not supposed to bear arms, and for people bearing arms for protection and not to cause mayhem, it's not out of place to surrender weapons to avoid more gbege.

Nigeria is under-policed and our officers are lacking in morale...seriosu investment has to be made in that direction, and state policing adopted to increase breadth.

Which officers are lacking in morale?

The police officers that are constantly harassing, intimidating and extorting citizens at the slightest opportunity or the military that are more interested in being bag boys for yahoo boys now or chilling in checkpoints?..Saw a video of the social media cretin, GehGeh just last night and he's now moving with two army men, as what exactly ffs?

What we probably need more is reorientation of our security personnel..Seems that a vast majority of them are more interested in elites escort services than their actual jobs..

For example some of the cows we have with herdsmen in the South, Some of them belong to kings and chiefs in the South, who hire these Fulani and sometimes arm them. These insecurity are not centralized, everyone just decide to become laws onto themselves

It is possible because illegal mining attract different criminals. I wan mine illegal gold, izzou wan mine illegal. How we no go clash? It becomes a battle for illegal resources, when you don mine finish and when leaving, another set of people go waylay you to snatch your proceeds. All these bring insecurity. like those in Zamfara and I think Ilesha, There was a youtube clip where they said some of those miners come all the way from Burkina Faso and Mali. Really battle hardened people

Why do our agencies have to receive Orders to respond to a threat in their front?

I remember as a kid, we were traveling to Ibadan, and we experienced a robbery along Ibadan expressway. After the robbers finished and fled, some cars drove quickly to the next checkpoint to call the Police

Police said they don't have orders to leave there, and that they cannot leave oh.

Na so everybody count him loss and left. God being kind, nobody was shot at all. They only shot in the air to scare people from going after them, as they ran into the bush.
