PENGASSAN To Call Off Strike as Dangote Redeploys Sacked Workers by blamingthedevil(op): 8:48am On Oct 01, 2025

Dangote Group has agreed to immediately begin the process of redeploying the sacked Dangote refinery staffs to other companies within the Dangote Group, with no loss of pay, and PENGASSAN has agreed to start the process of calling off the strike. - FG.

The Federal Government has announced it successfully mediated a resolution to the conflict between the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, following two days of negotiation sessions.

A statement released early Wednesday by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Mohammed Maigari Dingyadi, revealed that the issue was resolved after extensive discussions.

The statement reads: “The Honourable Minister of Labour informed the meeting that unionisation is a right of workers in accordance with the laws of Nigeria, and this right should be respected.

“After examining the procedure used in the disengagement of workers, the meeting agreed that the management of Dangote Group shall immediately begin the process of redeploying the disengaged staff to other companies within the Dangote Group, with no loss of pay.

“No worker will be victimised arising from their role in the impasse between Dangote and PENGASSAN.

“PENGASSAN agreed to start the process of calling off the strike. Both parties agreed to this understanding in good faith.”

The government representatives who attended the meeting comprised National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Minister of Labour and Employment Dr. Dingyadi, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Wale Edun, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning Senator Atiku Bagudu, and Minister of State for Labour and Employment Barr. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Director-General of the DSS, Adeola Ajayi, and the Director-General of the NIA, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.

The fact pengassan agreed to call off the strike despite the redeployment stuff only showed they were fighting for the sacked workers who by the reason of the redeployment may no longer be their member

While the millions spent in training them in india will be lost as dangote will spend another to train some more

Because we see him as savior, he is now free to disregard our labour laws. I love the way the man blackmail gullible Nigerians into supporting him. First he is getting crude at cheaper price and selling fuel above import price. Always crying sabotage to have his way

Those town criers who have been crying for days now can now wipe their tears off. And all those ones that threatened one million man protest and can drive the protesters to kwara state where they are needed

Redeploy the sacked Nigerians to non-existent positions in the other companies under Dangote group while he employs the 2,000 Indians to start work in his refinery..

This redeployment is a way to remove those workers from under the umbrella or cover of pengassan. They are no longer covered! Tell me what other union is as powerful as pengassan/nupeng in Nigeria? None!

Those workers are already marked, and will be sacked somehow along the line later ... By then, pengassan won't be there to protect them. Their only option then will be to run to industrial court where they will spend money on a long and protracted court case....

Top respect to Dangote for standing his ground. He won! Those workers that want to unionize are out of his refinery, plugged into other companies within the Dangote group - out of the oil and gas industry entirely. There will be no PENGASSAN BS to join. If they are unlucky, they will be deployed to unfavorable locations.

On the other hand, Dangote gets to employ new workers for his refinery. I'm sure the new workers will sign an undertaking.

PENGASSAN calls off the strike. They protected workers' job - a small win. They failed to establish control in Dangote Refinery - a big loss - na the main thing wey dey want be that. They will try again though. Make dem go build their own refinery na if body dey scratch them. Selfish folks. Food don done, you bring spoon to come chop; shey na your ancestors build the refinery?

This is a big win for Nigeria. Business continue as usual.

if i was dangote, i will redeploy them somewhere where they dont have access to companies properties, they will show up at work but nobody will interact with them or even assign task to them, they thenselves will start feeling uselesss and resign

You no well 99 percent of them go resign
Other are going to rice mill in Hadejia
Other Sugar Farm in Nassarawa .

Lol . Those staff will all be sacked again. Redeploying them to other parts and firing them soon after will be treated as isolated incidences that occured at different times . Not that they will be in one company at the same time . It is a Trojan horse and Pegassan has accepted it .

As a private business , you have the right to hire and fire anyone for whatever reason . Rehiring them is just to bid time and get the strike suspended .
