Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN, Sunday directed members to shut operations and all activities at the nation’s oil rigs and export terminals from midnight over the detention of 21 offshore members by the Rivers State Government since Thursday.
A statement by the association’s leadership this morning said “By midnight Sunday 19th April 2020, all Export facilities will stop operation as well as suspension of Production & Maintenance Services Reports. By 12 noon on Monday 20th April all our members will withdraw all forms of services relating to crude oil production, refining, distribution and supplies.”

Recall that 22 offshore staff of Exxon Mobil were Thursday arrested and detained by Rivers State government on allegation of breaching the state government executive order.
PENGASSAN had Friday threatened to withdraw oil workers in the rigs and export terminals over the arrest and detention including alleged incessant harassment of oil workers on essential services by state governments and security agents.
21 of the arrested workers are PENGASSAN, while the 22nd person is the Chief Security Officer, CSO, of the oil giant.

It affects Nigeria as a whole that's what Wike is trying to tell you.

Wike is not playing with you guys, he has put the FG in a corner. You can't keep bringing people to do business during a lockdown because you want to infect the people with Covid19.

grin

Give am 10 billion make it end.

It is the FG that will lose.A simply call or dialogue would have settled this issue before leaving Akwa Ibom state for Rivers knowing fully well that a lock down was in place.

RVSG will lose nothing that other states that share from federation acount will not.

They should get into talking and find amicable solution. It is difficult this time to balance fears and emotions with logical thinking due to COVID-19.

Where did you check? Even if they don't benefit directly from the oil companies through tax which I know they do, they benefit heavily from oil servicing firms based in Rivers.

States free from covid-19 should enforce total lockdown. No coming in, but you can go out.

Have you been to Rivers State?

Outsiders are the ones working in those oil companies.
They only put Rivers indegenes as security men.

How much tax is enough.?
The indegenes are not benefitting. They don't work in those oil companies, so it doesn't benefit them in anyway.

Do you know that most of those oil companies recruit from Lagos?

The state is trying, most times I see them sharing 2000 or even 1000 naira to indegenes but that's not enough.

Your argument is off point. I'm talking about the state government not the people of Rivers State.
