As far as am concern the military regime has built more infrastructures than the civilian regime and they have done well than the civilian regime.

There is this saying in law that "he who owns the land owns everything on it"

As a proud Yoruba guy, I can comfortably tell you that regardless of who builds what in Lagos, Lagos and everything in it belongs to the Yorubas cool

Federal Government also built many infrastructure in Portharcourt and Kano...Why haven't you and your likes claimed ownership of those places too?

Una don see we Yorubas finish, that's why y'all have the guts to trash-talk us undecided

Firstly, kindly list all the projects you are talking about in those places to prove equity in project distribution.

Secondly it doesn't mean you people should be lying that you built Lagos.

Thirdly, are you trying to tell us that you people are just like parasites who like to feed on the sweat of others?

What of tinubully? Any achievement apart from granting students loan?
Granting student loans to a few of those impacted by the hike in fees is nothing short of a scam.

Rising Tuition Fees in Nigerian Federal Universities Threaten Access to Education for the Poor

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) also increased its tuition significantly in 2023. Students in the Faculties of Arts, Education, and Social Sciences now pay ₦126,325, while students in science-based and laboratory-intensive faculties such as Engineering and Law pay between ₦176,000 to ₦226,325. This marks a sharp departure from the previous flat rate of around ₦19,000 to ₦25,000, sparking protests and criticism from students and stakeholders alike.

Similarly, the University of Ibadan (UI), Nigeria’s premier university, revised its fees upward in 2023/2024. According to official releases, students now pay between ₦110,000 and ₦150,000 depending on the course. Laboratory-based programs attract higher fees due to practical sessions. Prior to this increment, UI students paid an average of ₦30,000. The management cited rising inflation and the need to sustain academic quality as reasons for the fee hike.

The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) followed suit with a revised fee structure. Students in Faculties of Engineering, Agriculture, and Science now pay between ₦150,000 to ₦170,000 per session. Non-science students in Education and Management faculties pay slightly less, ranging between ₦110,000 and ₦130,000. This fee change, although controversial, was implemented without widespread consultation, further fueling tensions among the student body.

In Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, the story is no different. For the 2023/2024 session, newly admitted students pay between ₦151,000 and ₦163,000 depending on the faculty. Returning students pay slightly less, ranging between ₦89,000 and ₦128,000. Previously, students paid around ₦19,000 to ₦25,000 before this sudden adjustment. Many students have decried the hike, especially given the ongoing economic hardship in the country.

The University of Jos (UNIJOS) also adjusted its tuition fees upward in the 2023/2024 academic year. Students across various faculties now pay between ₦120,000 and ₦150,000. Management justified this increment by pointing to increased running costs, infrastructural maintenance, and the withdrawal of federal subsidies. However, the increase has placed immense pressure on parents and guardians.

Kudus to him. Not surprising anyway because Nigeria witnessed unprecedented oil money boom during his era. Many important national edifices and landmark structures were built despite the corruption that bedevilled his time in office.

Festac Town is one of the legacy projects. The military barracks are not excluded too. One negative is Federal Secretariat rottening away in Ikoyi that has been neglected by other successive governments is an eyesore till day.

So what are the structures the tamer of the Atlantic ocean built in his famed Lagos nah? Late Brigadier Mobolaji Johnson, baba Kekere - Lateef Jakande, Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu and Babatunde Raji Fashola are the real builders of Lagos as governors.
He was simply a performer cos Nigeria withness more oil boom under IBB and Jonathan than any other government in Nigeria history till date and corruption was the hallmark of the two respective tenures.

Lagos Oba traces origin to Benin,

After what looked like a clever way to explain his refusal to shake hands with the Ooni of Ife at a recent function in Lagos, the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, has come out to make another categorical statement that he should not be associated with the Yoruba culture and tradition, which most critics said he violated. Palace Watch had reported that Lagos had a way of greeting, which was what Palace sources explained was observed, when the two Obas met.

But last week, in Lagos, the Oba said Lagos State is not part of Yoruba land. According to a statement from Iga Idugaran, Palace of the Lagos King, Oba Akiolu was quoted as saying: “I was told by my late paternal grandmother, who was a descendant of Oba Ovonranwen Nogbaisi, and with facts from historical books, let me share this knowledge with you all on Eko or Lagos, as it is popularly called.

“Modern day Lagos was founded by Prince Ado, the son of the Oba of Benin. Prince Ado was the first Oba of Lagos, and he it was that named the town Eko, until the Portuguese explorer, Ruy de Segueira, changed the maritime town to Lagos, which at that time from 1942 was Portuguese expedition centre down the African Coast.

“It was a major centre of slave trade, until 1851. Lagos was annexed by Britain via the Lagos treaty of cession in 1861, ending the consular period and starting the British colonial period. The remainder of modern day Nigeria was seized in 1886, when the Colony and Protectorate of Nigeria was established in 1914, Lagos was declared its capital, due to the struggle of the Bini King.

“Lagos experienced growth prior to the British Colonial rule, but even more rapid growth during the colonial rule throughout the 90s till date. Thanks to the Aworis, Binis, Yorubas and migrants across the nation and the world at large, as no particular group of people can take the glory alone.

“The Aworis and Binis are known to be the first settlers of the Eko land. The Aworis are speakers of a distinct dialect close to that of Yoruba language with a rich Bini mixture. Traditionally, Aworis were found in Ile-ife; they were known to be the Binis, who followed their self-exiled prince, the first son of the Ogiso (now called Oba) of Benin Kingdom, whose stepmother was after his head.

“The exiled Benin Prince Izoduwa, known to Yoruba as Ooduwa (Oduduwa), was made ruler of the Ife people due to his powers and followers from the great Benin Kingdom.

“Izoduwa (Ooduwa) was made the first king of Ile-Ife in 1230 AD. His followers from his father’s Kingdom in Benin are today’s Awori people, who settled in Eko now called Lagos.

“In the 1300s, the King of Benin Empire heard from one of his traders, who were settlers in Eko, of how the Binis were treated by the Aworis who lived in their areas. Upon hearing this, the King of Benin commanded the assembly of a war expedition, led by his son, Prince Ado, which headed (for) the settlement of the Aworis and demanded explanation.

“On arriving Eko, Prince Ado and his army were more than welcomed. The Aworis asked the Bini Prince to stay and become their leader. Ado agreed on the condition that they surrender their sovereignty to the Oba of Benin, to which the people agreed. On hearing this, the King of Benin gave his permission for Prince Ado and the expedition to remain in Eko.

“The Oba of Benin sent some of his chiefs, including the Eletu, Odibo, Obanikoro and others to assist his son, Oba Ado in the running of Eko.

Some people are so filled with bitterness and would therefore use any given opportunity to get at Mr President.

Tinubu cannot be said to build the "sole builder" of Lagos but he definitely formulated the blueprint for the Lagos State of today.

This is what the greatest Singaporean leader Lee Kuan Yew (LKY) did for Singapore.

Singapore was part of Malaysia until it separated from Malaysia in 1965.

LKY himself died in 2015 and since then successive leadership have continued to build on the foundation laid by him.

When democracy was restored in Nigeria in 1999, President Tinubu became the first Governor of Lagos State until May 29th, 2007.

He handed over power to Governor Babatunde Fashola who didn't deviate from the blueprint laid by Tinubu and this has been the trend ever since.

Therein lies Tinubu being called the builder of Lagos State.

Today, he is bringing the same winning formula to the national level of which Nigerians would be grateful for in years to come.

Same can't be said of other States of the federation who have been drifting around aimlessly without any clearcut destination.

Tinubu is a visionary leader and not some Gbajues of this world whose only legacy was the building of a brewery so that his people can get drunk in order to forget their sorrows.

Baba na Baba!

Give credit to whom it's due!

Federal government invested heavily in Lagos.
Money generated in other parts of the country most especially oil money was used to develop Lagos.
Its so sad that a section of the country is claiming Lagos today .
