Besides assuming he charges it to 100% it will cost him 23k for a full tank of electricity that will take him 400km, how many people in Lagos drive 50km daily, not to talk of a self employed celebrity who probably does few Kilometers? Oga in a week he may not have used up to half tank of his full charge ie 10k on charging per week while you would have spent 100k on petrol.

So what happens if he takes the car out for a minor stroll and gets caught in heavy traffic like what happened in VI and Lekki last week where people spent upwards of 6 hours in traffic after the heavy rains...what will he do when his battery drains out at 1am in the middle of the road?

Are there any charging stations on Nigerian roads or will he carry the car on his head to take it home?

To make matters worse EVs don't do well in floods because the battery is in the floor of the car and the steering system is highly sensitive and needs to be kept away from water.

As at now EVs are impractical to own in Nigeria therefore it makes little economic sense to invest in them for now if you intend driving it here!

...and by the way that argument about EVs batteries not costing much to recharge is BS, na when e reach time to change the battery you go hear am...just changing the batteries alone will cost you at least 50% of the price of the car!

Oga it does not work that way that battery will drain because you are in traffic, the Ac or entertainment system will not kill the battery, it is not like a car that you keep the engine running. Even a car will run out of fuel in traffic too, the question is do you drive your car with the fuel guage always on red? If you do then you likely will drive your electric car at 5% battery which will get you stranded in long traffic. It is all about bad habits.
Do you even know some ev owners use their car battery as backup electricity in their homes even for camping or during emergencies such as hurricanes when the municipal electricity goes off.
As per battery wear, don't car engines also wear out? You have teslers with 250k miles and above with the same batteries, how many ice cars will last that long without an engine overhaul or change? What of all the thousand you spend on oil change and other parts you do not need to spend on your electric vehicle? Save that money and use to buy a new battery after 300k- 400k miles.
As per flooding, their batteries are fully sealed, Oga salt water is injurious to any vehicle be it ice or EV, but for regular water flood, an electric vehicle will likely save you embarrassment unlike your ice vehicle which bend connecting rods once water enters the engine air ducts, don't forget water does not compress.

Customs is still charging outrageous duty on electric vehicles.

Then they are cheating you , I know someone who imported and didn't pay duty or VAT but had to pay for one EV approval document they said they had to get from Abuja ( even that was fake they just wanted something from him )
