Nothing special about this road to justify the amount supposedly being spent on it, this is an overinflated very corruption laden project meant to siphon our resources.

Prove a point? To who? You? Joker.... He is doing what he planned to do and not proving anything to anyone. If you have chosen not to act ignorantly, you would know the master plan was to start the calabar section of the coastal road by the last quarter of the year
Please let them be. Ignorance is a real disease! The master plan you made mention of made no sense to them.

Whether they like it or not, Lagos - Calabar coastal highway will be completed on schedule! It will be tolled, we will pay and we will use the road. Whoever doesn't want can go through their usual 13hour route.

It's nobody's business!

The analogy of the frog getting cooked in slowly boiling water comes to mind when one sees citizens like you.

One of the projects Tinubu wants to use to win the next election.

Today, rigging alone can't guarantee you a win. Your perceived performance is much more important today.

I think the crux of the disapproval is bcoz the south east wasn't connected. Meaning that one could travel from south west to all the south south states without passing through any of the south east states. And this has economic implications to the south east.
Their problem is that they see this highway as an intrusion into their colonial handed down heritage which is the SS.

They see this project as a connecting bridge between the SW and SS.

They are also against it because it will bring development to what they see as their future reservations in their deluded Biafra.

Also they have always been against any project or developmental stride of the SS. They have been the biggest problem afflicting SS since Eastern Nigeria was created in 1951.

They have always sided with the hawkish core north in denying SS any special privilege as an oil producing region.

They hid under Obasanjo 3rd term to jettison the proposed 25% derivative to oil producing states. They sided with the north over the offshore/onshore dichotomy

They are the biggest enemies of not only the SS but also SW out of pure envy, jealousy and covetousness

In order for priority, that road project should be at the bottom series. It's a project being rushed for the benefit of the Southwest/Lagos axis of Nigeria
It prime purpose is electioneering. It is also to assist the South South or all coastal states especially the South South.

The speed at which it's being executed indicates its electioneering importance.

which "master plan"?

can you please share a copy of that "master plan"?

if they have no point to prove, why not fix the existing federal roads within the Lagos calabar corridor instead of starting an entirely new road?
Seems you are just waking up. Try clear your eye first and rinse your face with water undecided

When work on the 2nd Niger bridge started, they were all saying that it was politics.

What they started saying after its completion was that Jonathan had already started and paid the contractor in full.

They're are perpetual haters and bitter people.

Don't understand why people from the otherside of the divide are bitter whenever good things are happening in the country.

Is it because obi lost 2023 presidential election. grin

Anybody who truly has the country at heart will only criticize when it is necessary, this is one project I have been praying for long before it was initiated.
My prayers is, it should be completed before he leaves office else those people criticizing it won't touch it when they get there.

Do you think that Tinubu loves our country for making everything worse than when deregulation and privatisation PDP capitalists were in charge a decade ago huh

May Day: Hunger, unemployment, insecurity real— Tinubu

According to him: “The theme demands our collective attention and serves as a stark reminder of the need to create an environment where every worker feels safe, valued, and empowered to contribute to the growth and prosperity of our nation. As your President, I assure you that this administration is committed to creating such an environment for the common good.”

On the economic hardship, he noted that while it is a global phenomenon, its effects on Nigerians are particularly severe.

Tinubu said: “I am aware of the peculiarities of the economic hardship Nigerians face—rising living costs, hunger, insecurity, unemployment, and the loss of livelihoods. These challenges are real and demand definitive solutions, which I am poised to address as your President.

The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Chief Olawale Edun has said the last time Nigeria’s economy looked stable was about a decade ago.

He made this statement during his maiden press conference as Minister of Finance where he outlined President Bola Tinubu’s vision, agenda and strategy for the economy.

He said, “I think as we all know, we are not where we should be. The economy is barely growing above the rate of population growth.

“But it was not always so, and I think in trying to look at the way forward, if we now have a situation of slow growth, double-digit inflation, weak/depreciating exchange rate, as well as security concerns that are resulting in an economy that is not growing and not taking Nigerians out of poverty.

“If we think back to the last time when the economy was stable- when it was growing, when inflation was low, and the interest rate was affordable, that period was about a decade ago. Growth was about 6% in 2013 and 2014.”

I thought this is just one of the 40 roads built already with the $84 billion subsidy savings that has made petrol and everything else too expensive for ordinary citizens huh

TimeManager:
The Federal Government has revealed that the elimination of the petrol subsidy under President Bola Tinubu has resulted in savings of over $84 billion, which are now being channelled into the construction and rehabilitation of 40 key road projects across the country over the past two years.

This was disclosed in a policy brief released by the National Orientation Agency (NOA), titled “Two Years Later: Key Benefits of Subsidy Removal,” and made available to journalists over the weekend in Abuja.

The report, which reviewed the outcomes of the subsidy removal since May 29, 2023, noted that the policy averted a looming economic crisis.

It also enabled the Tinubu administration to clear long-standing financial liabilities, increase capital investments, and support the financial stability of state governments.
