remi4ever:If as you said it happens only when you are using much electrical load. Then you can do a little test to see if the alternator is working well under load. There is this bluetooth transmitter that you plug into the cigarette that displays car battery voltage. Buy it and plug it in and monitor the voltage under the conditions you normally observe the abnormally. You can get hint from there. |

ManAdii:Thanks for your response. The vibration and rpm drop is annoying. If I drop it into neutral it stops. I am thinking of getting an alternator to test with. |

remi4ever:What voltage output did you record from the alternator?? You didn't give any figure you only said you tested |

mayor2013:With all loads on except AC i still get approx. 13.7v. |
| Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by mayor2013: 1:12pm On Sep 08, 2025 |
remi4ever:Apply Ac and recheck |

mayor2013:I have an issue with my ac now. The inner seal is leaking gas. I've not been motivated to do it because of this issue. I also don't think that should prevent or deter any diagnosis. |

remi4ever:If that's the assumption professionals use on the field while fixing vehicles, a lot of cars would be scrapped daily Once again apply all loads you can apply and revert with alternator output voltage. Thanks |

mayor2013:I see. So if my AC doesn't work I cannot resolve the issue or tell what's wrong? Thank you sir. |

Guys I'm planning to get a Honda crosstour 2012 model today. As a first time car user, is this a good choice? What are the critical things I need to know about this model, and about Honda in general? |
| Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by mayor2013: 9:57pm On Sep 14, 2025 |
Tokkson:First thing is to carry out a prepurchase inspection before purchasing the vehicle . It's a good choice if you carry out the aforementioned. Good luck on your prospective purchase |

I just change my engine oil from 20w50 to 5w40 mobil 3000. How safe is my engine now. Car is accord 2007 145k miles on the clock |
| Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by Babatundehy: 8:06am On Sep 16, 2025 |
lawmanlala:Now start observing the car to know if it smokes when it runs, occasionally you can have someone observe your exhaust when you zoom off from a stop, you're good and should continue using what you changed to if there's no smoke. |
| Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by dru23(m): 12:47pm On Sep 16, 2025 |
lawmanlala:I never heard of Mobil 5w40 3000 ... You should have stuck to the 20w50. Your engine is used to that oil .. either way that car will eventually starting smoking, even if you use 20w50 |

Tokkson:If you want to leave long and see your grand children, stay away from naija used cars ..... A word is enough for the wise....... Honda are usually good cars and the crosstour is very reliable, hopefully the transmission no go get issues, Honda are funny like that. If you get transmission issues mechanic will say na that man wey him Honda dey always give him transmission wahala ... You will not like yourself, and God help you if na naija used u go buy.. you will truly not like yourself.. But if na fresh tokunbo na oil change and check coolant level. And also check transmission fluid.. Car engine cost now ... You need to be wise |

What do you do with your previously used cars? Just curious. And pls no be all of us for Nigeria dey use cars like animals. I bet you, I will/have use/used car(s) for 3/5 yrs and above and you wont compare it with SOME so called direct Belgium cars imported. dru23: |
| Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by dru23(m): 12:33am On Sep 17, 2025 |
FineUsername:7 out of 10 naija used cars are problems that the owners couldn't longer deal with. So the car is sold to the next mugu .. And the circles continues and continues............. Even when buying tokunbo is a risk also, but it is calculated risk .. So na to choose your poison The cars I had were bought tokunbo and were used for Uber. I end up selling them all and I maintain them very well ...... |

dru23:This is definitely not true, there are Nigerians who take care of their cars more than some careless people take care of their own health, I have been using the car I drive now since 2021, when something that can be ignored like a bad washer fluid reservoir gasket got bad, i treated it like what could damage my engine, it got fixed immediately, my car sometimes isn't used for a week, and still oil changes are always on time, leather seats regularly conditioned ( I use them and don't believe in covering them, I hate seat covers, car is mine and so are the seats). At every oil change, I tell my mechanic to look carefully while doing a general inspection (even as there's no complaints), I have two warnings lights, my check engine is as a result of a missing catalytic converter, my tpms is because I have tyres bigger than the recommended tyres installed. Every other thing works, from cruise control to power mirrors/seat and AC, ( factory fitted, heater works, an untouched system), a look at my engine bay will tell you how nicely maintained the car is, no oil stains or stupid wiring, I've even done a drain and refill on my transmission three times, just felt like, this is why I would confidently get into my car anytime and drive to Belgium if I needed to. I take care of it because I never want it to disappoint me, I drive responsibly, don't have any business doing high rpms, it's a V6, don't need that, I'm never planning to sell it, will use it until it dies and is unfixable, I am at 141,000 miles and just saw someone with the same car get to 444,000 miles, proof car is still new 😂. |

Babatundehy:Congrats 🎉👏 you are 1 of the few that takes care of their cars........... But in general I will not advice anyone to buy naija used cars. I will advise the person to save up and go for tokunbo........ We can agree buying tokunbo cars is a risk as much as buying naija used cars.. but tokunbo cars are calculated risk . It is a matter of picking your poison .. Below are pictures of calculated risks ....In the USA you are basically force to take care of your cars. The cost repairs can make u bankrupt, passing inspection are all factored in . Engine repair is as good as getting another car.. so you are forced for your own good to maintain your car

cmoney22222:Check fan circuit first ( fuse, relay and wire integrity ). If all is well. Remove fan bench test it Most likely you have a failed fan |

mayor2013:Hello. I fixed the AC 2 days ago and I've been able to take the reading. After engine is warmed up. I drove 25kms. Full beam headlight with AC On alternator reads 13.73v. So alternator has been ruled out. I guess the engine is weak, previous owner abused it with wrong oil. ☹️

I need price quote for the following Honda parts. 1. New Tensioner Adjuster not Toks 2. New 7pk2170 Drive belt. 3. Toks Automatic AC Compressor. Car is Honda Civic 2007. Thanks you! |
| Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by chillex8(m): 11:57pm On Oct 02, 2025 |
larrypourl:Let me answer you. 1. Do not buy new tensioner adjuster unless it's coming from US/Japan. Tokunbo is still better. 2. There's currently no OEM 7PK 2170 belt in Nigeria. Make do with used/tokunbo belt until you can import yourself from US/Japan. 3. Compressor should cost about 50k |
| Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by larrypourl(m): 7:09pm On Oct 03, 2025 |
chillex8:I've changed 2 Tokunbo this year already and that rattle noise has started again. I'll keep managing till I'm able to import or get someone do it for me. As regards the belt, I've been connected to dealers in Lagos, they just don't come cheap. Thank you. |
