Of course they have been threatened na.

It's obvious, lots of people will sign anything to get and retain a job. The fact that it is the company coming out to say this means it was part of the conditions of the job and what they had to sign.

Freely and without prejudice indeed? Does the Baba even have understanding of what he signed or rather thumbprinted?

Our eyes go soon clear. Those who think it's in the interest of Nigerians lool.

The unions are not saints but Dangote too is not a saint. Why are you hell bent on preventing those interested to join unions? To what extent.

Only terrible employers do that.
you can go prove it in court.

What a masterstroke!

The elders talk say if bird too wise, na from back dem dey slaughter am.

Dangote is a shrewd businessman who knows how to maneuver his way through the musky waters of doing business in a hostile environment with the likes of PENGASSAN and NUPENG.

Before PENGASSAN and NUPENG know what hit them, it might be too late.

The drivers say they are happy to be "slaves", so what's their concern?

Na by force to join a particular union?

Truly, two can play the game!

Aliko has listened. Game changer.

Aggressive unionism belongs in the 1980s an 90s.

In today's fast moving and highly competitive global environment the last thing any country needs is a highly unionised economy that is capable of holding the country back.
I agree with you on this submission.

Unionism was a tool for when factories were dominated by the Illiterates and they were being manipulated and cheated.

Now, each person comes into a company with a signed, legally backed, terms of employment.

Na you go agree to the conditions wey the company put down concerning tenure, termination, benefits etc. You can choose to walk away or take it. No union needed inside that one.

Plus, the world is now a global village; if you are truly as competent as you say you are and the company is maltreating you, you have the internet there to search for jobs around your competence. If you can't get another job easily, it simply means you are overrating yourself in that industry.

Is dangote refinery and MRS the only oil companies in lagos.? There has been other oil depots like ibeto, SPG , NIPCO, Capital oil, Ramaniyha oil , pinnacle even outside lagos. Why all these chaos. Pengassan and nupeng are far back union in these oil industry and they have there propaganda of doing there so called union things. This is a good development. You cannot force someone to join ur association. It is by freewill. NUPENG and PENGASSAN are the cause of the major problems in the downstream sector including the fraud in the subsidy regime and non-functional refineries. It is good that Dangote and Dantata are keeping them at bay. Otherwise, they will bring down the refinery through useless strikes.
NUPENG and IPMAN chop money under Goodluck Jonathan. Buhari cut their ticket, Tinubu did the burial 🤷🏿

They have their own association which is duly registered by government. The new union is bigger than NUPENG based on the number of trucks and scope of their business which extends beyond Nigeria

Protocols of extortion, backwardness, zero innovation. Dey play, driver dues and union dues have ended. Government will still collect tax undecided
Each loaded tanker pays 120k per movement. Multiply that by 4000 trucks 🤷🏿, that 380M . Then each tanker will go at least 3-4 trips per month 😎. Union haff lost ~1B naira monthly

If you're taking good care of your staff I don't see the need for union moreover, they can form their own union

These fools just come and use the word "slave" like it has any meaning to them.

NUPENG and PENGASSAN, a union mostly made up of "Staff" in the Oil and Gas sector.. Service contractors are the real "slaves" in the industry.. what are they doing or have they done to ameliorate their conditions? Who are the Slaves in this industry?
Re: Dangote-backed New Trucking Company Writes NUPENG, Says Drivers Reject NUPENG by pacesetting: 11:27am On Oct 03, 2025
When those workers were applying for jobs there, was the union involved? When they signed employer agreement, was the union involved?

If a company tells you this is what it is paying, it's left for you to accept or reject.

It's not proper to seek for higher pay when you know the company is just starting and needs to break even.

Union cannot force Dangote to change it's salary structure na.

This is a very funny thing. Union forcing workers to join them. If the advantages of joining the UNION is for the betterment of the members, the workers would willingly want to join I guess. With this new partnership dangote has formed with this logistics company, we can say bye bye to NUPENG and PENGASSEN's chockhold on the oil and gas sector to their own interest.
Re: Dangote-backed New Trucking Company Writes NUPENG, Says Drivers Reject NUPENG by Neoteny(m): 11:35am On Oct 03, 2025
The unions are not fighting for workers rights.

They're fighting for more membership to swell their ranks and thus more dues to line their pockets.

They're also trying to infiltrate the refinery so they can call for strikes anytime the leadership of the unions need to coerce some funds from Dangote.

Instead of fighting inflation and asking for price control, they settled for minimum wage that now is insufficient, because they only care about themselves.

Abolish these useless unions.

How is Dangote Refinery the cause?

Why should PENGASSEN and NUPENG force workers of a privately owned company to become it's members?

They might be forced to write this letter or it might even be written on their behalf...this is not good for this country....other companies might follow dangote style before u know it labour unions will die and workers might be treated like slaves in their own country
then what's benefits of union to the economy? Can't the union establish a company or industry too? That's why many investors ran away from the country because of useless union.

You ask yourself is it only Dangote company, workers not joining unions?

Which private universities their workers join union?

If they want to do thorough job, let them extend their tentacles to all other workers across the nation. Nobody will open his eyes and let one union bring his hard earned company down.

We have whole lots of Lebanese and Indian companies, in which Nigerians are working like slaves, yet unions didn't see them, but only oil money from Dangote refinery.
am telling you, it's because dangote is a Nigerian, so he refused to settled the union, come to North and see how foreigners treating Nigerian workers, the union will come and collect and go without a word to the workers.
Re: Dangote-backed New Trucking Company Writes NUPENG, Says Drivers Reject NUPENG by glolomoh: 12:11pm On Oct 03, 2025
Who Union Epp?

Unionism in Nigeria is not about workers—it’s about executives chasing dues and revenue.

Ask the 4,000 CNSSL staff at MTN Call Centre in 2011. NLC forced unionisation, chaos followed, and within two months the entire centre was shut down. Jobs lost. NLC did nothing.

Or GIG Logistics in 2020. NLC tried to force unionisation, the company resisted, and staff who backed the union were sacked. One senior manager is now an Uber driver.

The fact is clear: unionism here doesn’t protect jobs—it destroys them. If you value your livelihood, avoid it.

Those PEGGASSAN are bunch of criminals. My former governor senator Oshiomohole was a guest on arise tv this morning and simplify clear the air. He said as union, you don't immediately rush to a new private company for membership drive but wait for some years and allow the company to have strong foothold and start making profit and then you meet them for unionism. He said he did that when he was the NLC president. They will surely lose the war. Oshiomohole also said you don't shut other like companies because you have issues with one of them. Abati, rufai and others simply agreed. Oshiomohole was the last union leader we had in the country, what we see now are just after stomach infrastructure. Ojelare the NLC president was beaten in imo state when he went to campaign for labour party candidate. What a big joke. Dangote is too big for anybody to pull down in Nigeria.
