Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan says the abduction of the Chibok girls remains an indelible scar on his legacy.

He spoke on Friday at the public presentation of ‘SCARS: Nigeria’s Journey and the Boko Haram Conundrum’, a memoir by former Nigeria Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor.

Jonathan praised Irabor’s service, noting that the retired officer was “a soldier who stood for truth and never played politics with security.”

Reflecting on his presidency, Jonathan admitted that the 2014 abduction of 276 schoolgirls in Chibok, Borno State, would haunt him forever.

“The title of this book is quite interesting. One of the major scars on my government is the Chibok Girls.

“As Bishop Kukah said, no plastic or cosmetic surgeon can remove it. It is a scar I will die with,” he said.

The incident sparked the #BringBackOurGirls campaign and global outrage. Although some girls escaped or were freed, over 80 remain unaccounted for.

How can an ordinary citizen of Nigeria accuse a president of a weighty accusations and yet the president didn't dare ask for a prove.


Someone accused you of being dead and buried. He said the person there is someone else.

He even went ahead to prove it with pictures disparity.

He announced it to the whole world fearlessly and even convinced everyone to believe his stories.

Then the president was lucky enough to caught him and take him to court.

In the court, the president never mentioned the case.

Being on trial for over 2years and the president didn't ask him to come and prove how die and been replaced.

As someone who experience a bit of the prebokoharam issues and the first strike and afterwards.
I actually would like to ask oga Jonathan a man I revered and voted for and will be willing to vote for again and again what actually happened or bettter put why did the Government show so much unseriousness about the Bokoharam.
There was a lot of information or intelligence but still they weren't prepared to counter.
The president wasn't interested in the bokoharam matter until it became a big problem,
