Benin is a whole different country from Nigeria. I've never seen such a backward city in my life. They have legitimate reasons for not tarring roads. I used to believe the state of Edo was cursed with bad leaders from the get-go. I later realized past rulers were a reflection of the average resident.

This is an eyesore, Benin still continues to amaze me how stagnant it had been after so many years. Could it be the blood of the innocent fighting back.

We are fixing the Atlantic road first, if other road like make dem bad. We would do it after we are done with the pacific road!

It is the work of Umahi to get that road fixed. I no Tinubu must have given him the marching order

This is really pathetic, and because of ethnicity, yoruba people will blindly argue in support of a new coastal road that benefits onlyTinubu Lagos.... that coastal road ends in Lagos, you can take this to the bank! it will never pass south west Nigeria. In all of this, the daft governor of Edo is bragging that he will give Tinubu 2 million unfounded votes in 2027....shamelessly deceiving himself.....I trust Tinubu to ignore that unrealistic jamboree

South Africa had tolled their roads. And of you think corruption does not happen there, allow me to introduce you to the mess that is Eskom and south Africa railways as well as the Gupta's and Zuma. And that's just a tip of the iceberg. Meanwhile their roads look good.

Kind of funny that my supporting tolling roads is taken to mean that I am blind to the corruption that goes on in the road contracts system in Nigeria. For the record @AngelFrost...I am not here to defend corruption...the view on tolls is one I have held since 2002...and we must eliminate corruption. But that leaves us with a scanty budget and a lack of funding to maintain the roads. I have proposed tolling as a potential solution to that problem.

It's sad that when one proposes solitions, the next thing is to call the person corrupt or supporting corruption. Hey, corruption happens because most of us don;t hold government to account, and most of us back the corruption so long as our side does it. Me, I gat no side to defend.

The first day I entered Benin I regretted, so many bad roads.



When stranger dey pass through ring road dem go think say Edo state na beta state, use mistake carry your motor enter street you go see shege.......Na only caterpillar fit move comfortably for most streets for Benin.

This road is not Benin road.i I thought that Tinubu and Umahi have done all these types of road before embarking on costal highway.

We never effectively maintain the roads we get, we dey talk of coastal highway that will pass through swampy terrain, with numerous bridges.

If you know how many times the contract for that road has been awarded and re-awarded, you go shock till infinity.

Many Nigerians don build estates on top contracts for roads like this and Lagos-Ibadan expressway.


You would think it's impossible to fix such roads, but it isn't.



Corruption no go ever allow this country move forward... Especially Southern Nigerian.


The day I visited Northern Nigeria for the first time, was the day I wept for Southern Nigeria...! See roads and electricity differences so glaring!
