Court Dismisses Suit Against Akpabio, Over Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Suspension by Edygrin(op): 7:58pm On Oct 03, 2025
Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a suit filed against the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio challenging the legality of the six months suspension slammed on the Kogi Central Senator Natasha Uduaghan-Apoti over alleged misconduct.

The suit instituted by one Ovavu Illiyasu and nine others was thrown out by the Judge on ground that they have no locus standi (legal authority) to bring the matter before the court.

Marked FHC/ABJ/CS/654/2025, the suit challenged the validity of the suspension of Natasha Uduaghan-Apoti for various reasons.

Among others, the plaintiffs prayed the court to void the suspension of Natasha on the ground that their Senatorial District will ashortchanged recall with immediate effect.

Various grounds were advanced by the plaintiffs for their request for invalidation of the suspension, among which are that their Senatorial District would be shortchanged in the Senate.

In his judgment on Friday, Justice Omotosho held that the 10 plaintiffs lacked locus standi to Institute the action

No court in Nigeria shall give judgement against Tinubu, Wike and Akpabio. In fact the words of these great men is assumed to be the judgement of the court.

The learned judge erred in law to have ruled that the plaintiff lacked the locus being members of the deprived constituency

Natasha Akpoti uduang, go to supreme court with other evidences .
You're the one that accused without evidence and not your constituency.

What does the judge mean by saying they have not right to sue on behalf of their constituency??

This need to be challenged in a superior court, if it not it will set bad precedent for our constituents and nation

that’s why Nigeria judiciary looks like a joke to me, in any country where the 3 arms of government does not function separately it means the country is doom and nothing works, most of these lawyers dismissing cases and helping politicians get away with their dirty deeds will still be affected with the kind of corruption they help build, most of them study government in school but refuse to understand what is separation of power they allow the executive and the legislative branch of government to suppress the judiciary and its finish nothing works. Tomorrow when they kidnap one lawyer people will be shouting but they help manipulate the process of bringing in corrupt politicians into office… insecurity never start to consume us oo e just Dey warm up

People are to quick to write their biases and blame just any arm of the government!

What does "Locus standi" mean?

Imagine you are playing in a playground.
There is a big slide, and only the kids who are actually playing in the playground can tell the teacher if something is wrong with the slide, like if it’s broken or too slippery.

Now, locus standi is like a special rule that says:
Only the kids who are playing on the slide or in the playground can ask the teacher to fix it.

If a kid is just walking by and not playing there, they can’t tell the teacher to fix the slide because it’s not their playground game.

Why is this important?
Because the teacher wants to listen to the kids who really use the slide and are affected by it, not just anyone who sees it from far away.

So, locus standi means:
You have to be someone who is involved or affected to ask for help or to complain about something.

We don't take people who think they can just say anything against any arm of the government serious
Most of them believe once they accuse anyone in Govt with or without evidences or Locus standi , they're righteous .

I don't agree with your assertions.

Anyone instituting a suit should properly do the very right thing.

Someone that doesn't have locus in matter wey no concern them, should not take the matter to court. It's a waste of judicial time.

Going by your analogy, it also means members of her constituents can sue because they are affected by her suspension. Except the people who took the case to court are not members of her constituents?

The issue is about the system not the person involved in the saga.
If the constituents members cannot sue on behalf of themselves in this case, who will?

That's the issue here.

Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan would either bend or break in her vaunting pride and unbridled arrogance.

The Senate (the highest law making body) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is greater than any single individual or member of the Red Chamber.

It has nothing to do with the Senate President as a person.

The Nigerian Senate is a legal entity and arm of government.

The Senate is not a place for juvenile rascality or a place for beauty pageantry.

There are rules and ethics guiding the behavior and conduct of all members including the Senate President himself.

Those egging her on to disobey the good conduct of the House would only lead her to Golgotha in the long run.

This is what a mere change of sitting arrangement has cost the supercilious carmel.

Accusing the Senate President, Distinguished Senator, Godswill Obot Akpabio (GCON) of sexual advances is a different kettle of fish of which till date she hasn't given a scintilla of evidence or irrefutable facts before Nigerians or any court of law.

It's one's guess that she suffering from poor upbringing.

What a disgrace to the good people of Kogi State!

Stop talking nonsense! The executive, legislature and judiciary are all branches of government with equal powers.

So her constituency that is shortchanged in this case as regards representation in the house are not involved or directly concerned? Is that what you are insinuating?

So you mean the people of Kogi Central were not affected by the suspension of their representative in the Senate and as such lack the locus standi to institute the case?
Is that what you mean?
