Hi everyone, Has anyone experienced something similar? I'm trying to book an appointment for my mum. I made the payment using my card, but I didn’t receive any confirmation, and I was logged out of the system. When I logged back in, I was able to proceed to the next step and saw that I could book an appointment slot but I still haven’t received any confirmation of the payment. Also, is there a way to monitor available appointment dates for Lagos? Thanks in advance for your help! |

gateleo:■ If your 2 previous f1 visa denials were not based on criminal acts like impersonation or misrepresentation, then you do not have any worry. Although, every U.S. visa denial is usually a natural brick-wall to another visa application. Ironically, and interestingly, if you are genuinely qualify for the B1/B2 visa it will be granted to you like a piece of cake. Ipso facto, you do not have any chances if you dont qualify , at the same time , your chances are high if you qualify. |

Hi everyone, according to the new 3montha validity period for non-immigrant visa, how long after visa issuance does an applicant have to travel? Is it within 3months of issuance please? Or they can travel at a later date? My parents have their interview by October 16th and we plan for them to come by March. Is this possible or would their visa have expired by then? Please enlighten me 🙏🏾 |

Hello guys, I think there might be a shadow ban on Nigeria by the embassy (my opinion). I noticed that all through the month of September, I did not hear of a single non-F1 approval; the only F1 that seems to get approved were fully funded last month (September). Does anyone know of any Non-F1 approvals last month? (September). Like do you know or hear of any F2 approvals last month? I hope there's no blanket ban on us? |

gateleo:Nothing is impossible, but your chances of getting the visa are very slim. |

Cityview12:■ What do you mean by a shadow ban ? Even if nobody post success visa transcripts all through this year does that mean that people are not getting visas? Dont judge Nigeria visa situation with Nairaland. A lot of people are just readers and learners on Nairaland who got vital visa information here. They went away equipped with success info , got their visas and disappeared. Some are self- centered who doesn't like to share their success stories. B1/B2, F1 and F2 are still getting visas . |
| Re: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by Cityview12: 2:25pm On Oct 05, 2025 |
Efetobore1980:True, but the level of visa denial last month is concerning. I belong to a ton of groups off Nairaland, and not one non-F1 applicant got approved, which is concerning. Do you know of any non-fully funded F1 approvals in the month of September? Do you know of any F2 or B1/B2 approvals in September? even if it's just one? |
| Re: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by Efetobore1980(m): 3:17pm On Oct 05, 2025*. Modified: 3:36pm On Oct 05, 2025 |
Cityview12:■ I don't believe in those groups. The only group I believe and trust a little bit based on empirical situation is Nairaland. Despite this , few people are still posting artificial created information here. As per your question, yes. In all honesty i know few non F1 fully funded approvals and B1/B2 in the month of September, year 2025, but i dont know any f2s in that month. All these people does not even know what is called Nairaland. Lets get out of this discussion. What you know is what you know. There are lot of things you and i doesn't know. Ipso facto, many countries are tightning their visa procedures , some like UK. Canada. Australia are now mandating students to pay millions in tuition deposit, Newzealand now demands full tuition payment b4 visa issuance, hence people are falling back (unprepared & confused) to the U.S.A visas because they are now realising that United States still stands at top-1 in visa & school admission flexibilities , as well as humanitarian consideration. |

Good evening friend. As per someone that posted that no visa approval in September. He may be right or otherwise. I got a denial on a day to my birthday in recently in Lagos US embassy Here is my transcript. V.O: Good morning. Me: Good morning officer V.O: your passport Me: here's my passport with a smile V.o: Where are you going in the US? Me: Indianapolis V.o: What's the purpose of your traveling? Me: I'm going for my annual leave vacation and tourism V.o: how long do you plan to stay? Me: I intend to stay for 2 weeks and return back home to resume my job. V.o: what do you do? Me: I work as head of Bleep at xyz where I have been working for 8 years now V.o: have you traveled outside the country before? Me: yes officer. I've traveled to Ghana, Togo and Benin Republic V.o: Are you married? Me: yes, I'm happily married V.o: how many kids? Me: a beautiful daughter V.o: what's your monthly income? Me: I earn 300k monthly V.o: where would you visit during your stay? Me: Indianapolis motor Speedway, Indianapolis museum of art V.o: sorry you're not qualified for this visa. I got to the hotel and I just laid down flat on the bed. I was static for some minutes. I couldn't do anything after months of rehearsals with my wife and kid. Please my senior, where did I get it all wrong? I'm still disappointed at the whole thing. It was only one guy that was given visa out of about 12 people who were on the queue with me. An elderly woman was denied because she overstayed in the US. The US embassy is like a world on its own. |

Shofat4real:You have good ties But the only this i see is that u didn't give the vo enough information about your trip Your salary is too low (you have a wife and kids) Your travel history is weak for someone who goes for vacation annually You can't win level 2 and wanna jump to 10 Maybe try other countries in Europe or southern Africa. Idk but your travel history is too weak for someone who goes for a yearly vacation You can try reapplying your profile is good if you work on your loopholes |

Good afternoon. I went for my B1/B2 visa interview this morning in Abuja. My anxiety started when the lady checking passports asked for my expired passport, and I didn't have it. I didn't use it at all, so I didn't think bringing it was necessary. She said that there was no way to ascertain whether or not what I said was true, but they let me in. About 20 or more people were in line in front of me, and as far as I could tell, more than 90% had been denied before i came in. As I watched, person after person was denied, including older people. I remained calm and kept asking the Lord for mercy and favour. One naval officer was the only person to be approved, that i could tell of, from the window where my interview held. VO: Good morning. Passport please. Me: Good morning. I handed her my passport. She was polite but hardly smiled. VO: Where are you traveling to? Me: I told her. VO: Are you married? Me: Yes. VO: How many children do you have? Me: One. VO: What do you do? Me: I'm a writer, self-employed. VO: What is the purpose of the trip? Me: My sister is getting married, and she invited us. VO: Have you been out of the country before? Me: No. VO: Are you going with your family or going alone? Me: I'm not going with them, but I'm going with my mum. She's frail and needs help. All the while, she was typing, but she paused when I said this. Then, she asked: VO: Does your mum already have her visa? Me: Yes. She nodded and continued typing. VO: How long are you going to stay? Me: Two to three weeks. VO: What does your husband do? Me: I told her. She nodded again and kept typing. VO: What is your mum's name? Me: I told her, and she typed and checked her system. Then she asked me to spell my mum's surname, and I did. I could faintly see my mum's picture on her large screen. She had two, and one was slightly facing outward. She nodded and typed for a few seconds before saying: VO: I've approved your visa. We will let you know how to collect your passport. This paper... I don't remember the rest of what she said. But she cracked a quick smile at me at this point, and I left. God is merciful and kind. |
| Re: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by IvoryT: 9:12pm On Oct 07, 2025 |
IjeObi:My key takeaway is that you must clearly establish that your visit is necessary to qualify for a visa. In this case, your mother, who already holds a valid visa and is in a frail condition, genuinely needs your assistance to attend her daughter’s (your sister’s) wedding. Without that compelling reason, your application would likely be refused, because you’re not an essential participant, your absence wouldn’t make or break the event. Applicants must convincingly justify why their travel to the U.S. is necessary at this time. It’s no longer enough to rely solely on financial stability, home ties, or travel history, those are helpful indicators, but not decisive. The key questions remain: Why the U.S.? Why now? If the consular officer isn’t convinced, it’s an easy denial. Globally, visa scrutiny has become tighter, with more refusals than approvals, so applicants must ensure their reasons stand out and are clearly justified. |

Please what’s re the chances for my mum who is over 60 to come to the USA to attend my wedding in December 2025 She has two houses back home and a business she runs and my sister is in Nigeria She has no travel history but she is a widow a |
| Re: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by Efetobore1980(m): 5:41pm On Oct 08, 2025 |
uche06:■ Her two houses does not matter, but her business matters. Senior citizens who want to visit their children in America does not really have to prove material /wealth ties because the consular always knows that the children or child abroad can handles all expenses. ¤¤ The consular will weigh her visa chances based on genuine intentions and the psychological assessment of her home ties (ie her business or other activities or other children) that must prompt her to return to Nigeria. ■ She does not need travel history, but she need a good health history by appearance. There is always a kind of prerogative of mercy for every widow or widower who is also a senior citizen, so that may give her a kind of listening ears. In her DS-160 application, Work on her business or activities in nigeria, intention to visit the USA in short duration, and work history. All these must correspond in her verbal engagement with the consular. She should present herself as a nationalist, i mean someone who loves her country. |

| Re: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by Efetobore1980(m): 3:22am On Oct 10, 2025 |
Judawoo:■▪︎ Hello If your home country is partially or fully ban either you are in the same country or not does not affect your visa application totally. Every visa ban is actually directed towards your government as a warning or measures to sieve out bad eggs out of their citizens or yield to international agreements. Ipso facto, go ahead with your visa application, the only thing is that you may be placed on 221g in order to ascertain that you are a genuine expatriate. Same way, the temporary visa ban will not affect many innocent students who will be applying for F1 visa from your country. ■● The certainty is that all genuine visa applications from such countries would still be processed but with extreme background checks. |
