Southern Kaduna Farmers Paint Faces Black, March Barefoot Over Herders’ Attacks by Glimpsetv(op): 8:47pm On Oct 06, 2025
Farmers in Southern Kaduna — mostly women — painted their faces black and marched barefoot to a traditional ruler’s palace in a powerful protest against repeated attacks by herders. As they walked, the women were heard singing in sorrowful voices and letting out painful cries, expressing years of grief, frustration, and loss over the unending violence in their communities.

Although details about this particular protest remain limited, it reflects a long-standing and painful pattern of farmer-herder conflicts in the region.

For years, Southern Kaduna — along with other parts of Nigeria such as Zamfara and Plateau — has witnessed recurring violence between herders and farming communities. The clashes are often fueled by disputes over land and water resources, but deeper ethnic and religious tensions, the impacts of climate change, and weak law enforcement have further worsened the crisis.

Despite government efforts to maintain religious and ethnic balance in leadership, these measures have done little to reduce insecurity or heal the divisions driving the conflict.

Civic and community leaders continue to call for solution-driven summits focused on lasting peace, urging authorities to put community safety above politics.

In late September 2025, a peace gathering was held in Kaduna, where both farmers and herders reportedly pledged to embrace dialogue and peaceful coexistence. However, it remains unclear whether the same groups who participated in that event were part of the recent protest.

The October 2025 protest underscores the deep frustration and growing sense of abandonment among rural communities in Southern Kaduna, who say they have suffered disproportionately from years of unchecked violence.

I feel so sad watching people cry for help like this sad

All what these farmers need is security so they could farm and eat, and as well earn a living.

They are not asking for too much, all they need is security. undecided

May God help us in this country

The issue is that southern Kaduna
and indeed, most of the Fulani victim States
and community to not understand the
ethno political agenda of these attacks &
are therefore not prepared or know how
to face it...

There is a two pronged initiative by the
marauders and their sponsors

👉 Religious, as in continuation of
Danfodio's jihad

👉 Land grab of displacing aboriginals
from their ancestral lands & subsequently occupy same.

While going about the above two main
points, they continuously raise money for their immediate needs by engaging in kidnapping, which for now, our government is basically helpless at stopping.

Kidnapping is actually a revival of what
the Fulani inherited from their forefathers.
slave raiding.

Before oyibo came, they were notorious for slave raiding of the middle belt region and
taking to Kano and other markets to sell. But
now as there are no longer slave markets,
they kidnap victims and 'sell' back to their
relations. Same action, same result ( exchange of money), different format.

Nigeria must wake up from slumber to
confront these aliens from Futa Djallon
and Futa Toro...

Nuff said.

😕😕😕😕

Send this nation back to regional government and save countless lives.

Is it until Bandits will start to kill people in lagos.

Nigeria is too complicated for federalism.

But sha some people here were insulting El Rufia here because he refused to support Tinubu about Southern Kaduna. But it seemed that the problem has not gone away. So now use that same energy to blast Tinubu. Because to you guys everything is politics even when people are dying and suffering.

The problems started when the whole north under buhari desperately wanted to oust Jonathan.

The tools and machineries used then has not and cannot be retrieved.

It has now snowball into a national disaster

For those trying to lie about the genocide happening. At the end of the day Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was right and should be freed.

Southern Kaduna is Christian dominated. What has Tinubu or Omokri or Onanuga got to say about this obvious persecution of Christians? They denied the US reports so i am waiting to hear from them.

I gather from the multiple posts that it is not just herders but bandits and illegal miners. Nigeria's interior is under attack and the lack of visible government action makes one wonder if they are complicit.

People that are supposed to defend themselves. Protests like this one mean nothing to this inept government, they just don't give a rat's shit. Ask the south south and the south East how they are handling this disease.

Quite disturbing and worrisome. As pathetic as this is, who will really come for them? When will all this inhumane treatment end?
Time, they say, heals all. Will the time really come in this case?

huh

El Rufai had 8 years to solve this problem but NO. He's back to decieve you all as a saint because Tinubu didn't welcome him based on the fact that he wasn't cleared by DSS. Nigerians are wiser now tho

Allow! There is massive news suppression currently on Southern Kaduna. You will only find very few news outlets like Sahara Reporters reporting on it because the rest, including their leaders have been placed on payroll (,something Elrufai stubbornly refused to do). Now, they can't even voice out their pain because they made it all about Elrufai.

Long before Elrufai became governor, there was the Kafanchan crisis of 1987, the Zangon Kataf crisis of 1992, the Miss World crisis of 2001, the post-election violence of 2011, and several others in-between. Elrufai became governor in 2015.

Here's a video of Zamani Lekwot, Bishop Kukah and others testifying on the Zangon Kataf crisis at the Oputa panel. Elrufai was not the governor as at then. Neither did he envisage that he will ever become the governor of Kaduna. Only a holistic approach and sincerity of purpose can end the carnage.

This is terrible and one mumu guy was telling me the terrorists also kill Muslims too as if that is enough excuse for the marauders not to be described as Muslim Jihadists!

Insecurity in Kaduna that was beginning to reduce but some people were not happy about it. Since they started assembling in their koolision, the thing started to increase again nation wide. Even Kwara that was once peaceful, became a flashpoint.

FG should fish out their sponsors and supporters and ensure they are sentenced to life in prison.
