Go back to that shop and let them know that their product is fake.
If they doubt u, of course you can report them.
But make sure you let them know.
That was how I bought fake anti malaria medicine and I test it with a code and result was fake and I took it back to them and they refunded my money.
Exactly what I did. I went back to the shop and told the lady about the fake pepsodent

How did you know its fake? It could be an expired product
Not expired.. FAKE.. my exact same experience with the fake pepsodent

Colour is pale compared to the original

Pack is dull compared to the original pack

Taste is totally different from original (fortunately i had small original paste left that's how i finally confirmed)

For all the people commenting that the product might be expired, or how OP knows it fake product please think. What's OP's motive for opening this important thread?

I read one comment asking why OP opened this thread. It's a shame that when a customer raises awareness about an issue such as this one, it's as if the customer is to blame for the issue.

Please everyone try to understand that most of the fake, expired or substandard products that are in our market space is a health disaster waiting to happen for the Nigerian consumers.

God to the dialysis centers around Nigeria and enquire from the patients how their predicament started.

Anyone that encounters fake or substandard products and raises awareness is a patriotic citizen Our Great country Nigeria.

You can report the issue to nafdac...

Through their websites or handles. However, I don't think anything positive would come out of it. And it's sad. Maybe I am wrong about. I hope I am.

Most government agencies in Nigeria have failed in their primary responsibilities of providing services to the citizens. They are hardly any bodies protecting customers and where they exist provide shabby services.

Anything goes in Nigeria. It's almost like a jungle. People just look the other way when things are not right or done properly because even the bureaucracy and process of reporting such to the appropriate channels is tiring and even frustrating. People have developed a thick skin and aren't even bothered about a lot of things anymore.

They just shrug and move on hoping on the next opportunity to make money and live their life.

The quality of life in Nigeria is really at it's lowest. A lot of things have gone really bad and a lot really needs to change.

Sometimes I wish I was in a better position to change some of these things. For now I can only play the part I can by highlighting some of these things that have gone wrong.

We really can't continue living like this as a people where even the least of the basic things to make life comfortable and meaningful are simply not there or at best non functional.

We have a long way to go as a country and people!
You've spoken well.

Truly, Nigeria is not a working country.

The shop you bought it from probably bought it from a major distributor and should not be blamed for it. Recently, I bought a fake olive oil from a shop. I was shocked to see that the oil contained 95% of water. We are doomed in this country!
No. We aren't doomed. Just burying head in the sand like ostrich.
Re: Just Bought A Fake Toothpaste by favour32(m): 9:30pm On Oct 06, 2025
All I know, there are two popular types of pepsodent toothpaste.
The one you bought is not fake but the cheaper brand with less quality.

Report to NAFDAC, help save lives. If it's fake, it's poison.

There is absolutely nothing that’s doesn’t gave fake in Nigeria nowadays. Even beer especially from local bar.

Those big bar have original because their suppliers are from the company itself.

Shopping malls are better when buying products.
Big shopping malls are relying on those market wholesalers and companies representatives for supplies on credit.

If the security operatives know what they're doing apprehending the manufacturer isn't rocket science.

The shop owner bought it from someone, that someone also bought it from another person......If they follow up the case like that they will get to the manufacturer.

The question I want o ask you if they know they stocked fake product like Pepsodent.

Instead of going there to complain and show them so they know you are social media seeking advice.
Mschewww!

You were looking for a cheap option…simple

Most often than not, Price determines the originality of a product. There’s fake Oral B in the market too. In Benin, it’s usually sold for 1500 or anything below 2k.

That will be like taking the laws into his hands. He should report to NAFDAC and/or SON.
If I may ask, was he given a receipt as proof of purchase? Because the shop owner could deny ever selling the toothpaste to him, or that the toothpaste is not bought from his/her shop.

Just go to another pharmacy and purchase an original one. Why open a thread over toothpaste and people have time to even respond? Pure waste of everyone's time.
Errrmmm...to make people aware?🤷🏽‍♀️
I believe that's a good reason.

Tell me you won't check well next time to go to buy a pack of toothpaste.
