@Kavara, a belief or a lack of belief in God has nothing to do with mental illness.

It seems you have yet to realize by now that the major reason why religious houses —churches, mosques, etc.,— are packed full every service/prayer time in a place like Nigeria has more to do with mental illness. Driven majorly by anxieties, worries, and depression, people drag themselves back for more of those religious lies they need to feel good, even if for a few minutes, about themselves and their lives. The reason behind the vast majority of prayers and prayer points happens to be mental illness-related and not some desire for goodness and fulfillment for others.

Kindly resist the urges to hide your anxieties, worries, and shame behind the many fantasies about God that were driven into you by men who somehow convinced you they know this god of theirs better than you or anyone else does. Be honest with yourself and face/confront your own mind for what may be the first time in your life. If you don't get your mind to your own side in this life, how can you expect to get anyone else, or even a deity, to be on your side?

What maker? The same one who allowed this burden on you, a burden which you alone can unravel if and only if you are willing to take initiative and attack the real problem instead of continuing to swat at phantoms?

I will even posit that you have never once met the real maker, the one who made that mind that you are afraid to dive deep into to free yourself from all of the trauma and pains it is tangled up in at this point. Ignore all distractions and sit with yourself to realize what your mind wants you to know by way of the depression it is wrapped in at this stage.

Again, what you is not someone to feed you more lies about your situation at this point, but someone to help you directly identity, accept and attack the real issues at the core of your depression. Only a professional mental health counselor or therapist can properly and adequately help you with this.

You would need to talk to Nairaland moderators about that since that happens to me from time to time, too. And to date, I have never received any tips or information on how to avoid being banned by the bots on here.
