I remember how we were told Nigeria was good in the 70s and 80s, and how NYSC was something every graduate looked up to.

If people were forging certificates in the 70s, when there wasn't really a need, and Nigeria wasn't this bad, I can imagine the kind of forgery going on today

DSS probably collected clearance fee from each of the ministerial nominees.

The guy is also not particularly smart sha. You cannot be chasing govt position when you have dodgy papers. Any journalist looking to make a name for themselves will scour every ministers or political appointees documents.

He would have continued where ever he was parading his fake degrees and no one would have cared.

One of my Classmates was expelled for exam malpractice as we were graduating. The guy already had a job. He basically has no presence on the net. I search him every once in a while

I guess it didn't help that when he was in school he was a cruel playboy so any chick with beef for him could have messaged wherever he works.

Omo, it's a big shame. DSS is just a paper weight government agency that is no better than other government agencies/ministries/parastatals replete with inefficiency and incompetency.

Just watch this video and see how Premium times Editor-In-Chief summarized their investigative journalism into Nnaji's forgery

So apparently Nnaji is one of those guys we all knew in school whom we gained admission together, got to final year together but we are not really sure whether he did passed all core courses required for senate to approve his result. The guyman even feature in their set's year book but never sat for the compulsory course he was having issues in for his result to be approved by senate.

Dem supposed lock that guy up for being bold enough to forge both UNN degree certificate and NYSC certificate. Now some employers go dey look UNN graduates with one kind eye when they present their certificate for employment.

Dey play!

People did more forgery in the 80's cos there wasn't computer records to check and verify documents. Most people relied on "eye tests"

A lot of Nigerians who are now grandparents resident abroad traveled with international passports they called "orí olórí" back then. They simply swap the photograph of the original owner on an international passport to theirs.

Forgery has been going on for decades, just that it's only people who have "mind" wey dey rugged am.

One of the best things unilag does is they periodically publish a list of all students and their academic standing in a national daily.

At least I know they did that at one time. We always had some friends in school who were around but not around. Na when peeps dey graduate u will find that Kunle had to withdraw in 100l but did not tell anyone and continued going home and collecting money for school and hanging out

Also, forgery of printed documents is more an art thing than a science thing.

There are actually some students who managed to be on good standing till Final year but still had some papers to sit before they can proceed to NYSC clearance.

Most students who are from humble backgrounds would strive to clear such outstandings within a year or two after their mates had gone for NYSC.

You see those from comfortable backgrounds, those ones would always be looking for who to "sort" in the system without having to take the pain of sitting for the outstanding papers with their "juniors". That's where they always run into problem like this Nnaji guy.

The premium times Editor claimed they saw correspondence between Nnaji and UNN management in which he was pleading with the university for him to be allowed to write the outstanding exams the same year he claimed he observed NYSC. The guy really shiiit for church but was telling his spokesperson to be writing big big grammar on social media as defense till everything cast finish.

Doc,

My toddler started school last month. This is the 5th week. He's currently has catarrh (which I assume is due to the change of environment, and interaction with other kids). He's active, not running temperature, and is eating okay.

My wife wanted to give catarrh syrup but I insisted she shouldn't that the catarrh will run its course, and go on its own, and it'd help build his immune system. So we resorted to home remedy mixture of honey and lime, which we give 5mls morning and night.

The catarrh has lingered for about a week now. Wetin you advise make we do? and secondly, how does one mitigate the risk of school germs and infections in toddlers?

Additional info - Age is 1 year & 8 months. He was dewormed a month before he began school, preventively treated for malaria and his immunization record is up to date.
You are doing the right thing. 1 week is not abnormal. Some will have it for 2-4 weeks, sometimes becomes of reinfection.

Minimizing risk of school germs amongst toddlers is like trying to capture smoke. Hand hygiene, good ventilation, up to date immunization, good hydration and nutrition, adequate rest and leave the rest to Fenibeso. Oh, and teach them sneezing and coughing etiquette

Dem recently increase my rent from 650k to 800k, and it's Ogba, and traffic is light. But the 4 bedroom above me, that they let out last year, was for 1.5m per year. I know anything that sends me house hunting now would see me spending around that 1.1 to 1.3, and still within Ogba.

Some persons even don't bother swapping, they simply use as and match their facial features to match the ID with the hope that people don't catch on and switch jobs frequently .

I am can't knock it for the reason that when I was in school, some people's parents would be completely in the dark about their kids academic status right up to graduation.

Tayo is admitted for medicine, fails out in 100l, transfers to anatomy and you are completely in the dark.

Well I will have to be convinced because I have seen state officials make bigoted comments against the Igbos in Lagos. Then they tend to follow up by targeting businesses and even homes.

That's why it's difficult to understand how State government will leave all the state owned areas that are dilapidated and are more interested Trade Fair which is owned and managed by the Federal Government.

I've tried to post this link here but the bot kept banning me each time I posted it.

Didn't they say we have budget surplus why are they still borrowing more money? All the money they claimed to save from subsidy, and yet they're borrowing money every month.

With the rate tinubu is going he might borrow over $50b before 2027, and if he goes for another tenure the borrowing might just exceed all the money previous governments since 1993 borrowed combined.
This government will be best known for their propaganda.

Tendering another certificate will not erase the crime of forgery. It is similar to what BAT did. It's a shame.

The Judiciary is the biggest problem we have in this country. If crimes are rewarded like that of BAT then we are living in a crime scene

E be like say u no know the kind soup wey the guy enter. The guy submitted a bachelor's degree certificate purportedly form UNN and NYSC discharge certificate purportedly issued by NYSC to DSS and SSG when he was nominated and cleared for ministerial role.

Those certificates have turned out to be forgery because apparently UNN never issued him the bachelor's degree nor was his NYSC certificate consistent with those that served the same year he did.

The Nnaji guy should be doing some time in prison for forgery but na naija we dey. People would hail him for being honorable enough to resign and few months after he will claim he was victimized or targeted by his enemies.

PS: His deposition in court actually confirmed UNN never issued him the degree certificate he's been parading as issued by the institution. He was admitted into UNN but the academic records showed he never graduated nor was issued a certificate by the institution
Absolutely 💯 my brother.

He should be in jail.

Imagine his portfolio as minister for Science and Technology and we are discussing forged certificates.

Our DSS are so useless. These are the issues they could have investigated and sorted out and saved this country from being a laughing stock.

Tomorrow they we begin to mention those demarketing the country when they are the real and only culprits

It's just crazy that DSS that's supposed to be an I telligemce agency couldn't call this forgery out from day one. Imagine, this whole forgery slipped through DSS' supposed watchful eyes, it's just bunch of journalists that eventually did what should've been DSS job perfectly well..

Now I understand the reason why that short man Elrufai dey Para for Tinubu because of the DSS report that was used to stop his confirmation as minister. He probably knows DSS is an incompetent organization and could's let him off if they wanted to in their report which tinubu relied on. Shebi na the same report clear certificate forger like Nnaji. grin
