CITIZEN MONITORS UNVEILS ELECTION-MONITORING WEB APP AHEAD ANAMBRA GOV POLL.

Ahead of Anambra Election scheduled for Saturday, November 8th 2025, a civic-tech platform that turns citizen evidence into public accountability, Citizen Monitors, has announced the rollout of its new election-monitoring web application.

The application is designed to let citizens document and verify what happens at polling units across the state.

A statement by the platform said: “The web app allows users to capture, upload, and view real-time reports from polling units, creating a public evidence base for transparent elections.

“• Capture & upload evidence: Users can upload clear photos or videos of result sheets and incidents, tagged to their polling units.

“• Automatic context: Each report includes timestamp and GPS location for easy verification.

“• Peer review: Reports are checked by other users before appearing on the public dashboard.

“• Live view: A statewide map and ticker display verified updates as they come in.

“Election day should be clear, not chaotic. The platform helps turn citizens into calm, coordinated witnesses instead of bystanders.

“Trust grows when people can see the evidence. With this app, Anambra can protect its polling units with facts, not noise,” Co-founder of Citizen Monitors Adeshope Haastrup said.


“Our message is simple: see it, record it, verify it. If each unit plays its part, election day becomes clearer and safer for everyone,” spokesperson for Citizen Monitors Olajumoke Alawode-James said.

As Anambra State prepares to vote on Saturday, 8th November 2025, Citizen Monitors has announced the rollout of its new election-monitoring web app, designed to let citizens document and verify what happens at polling units across the state.

The tool, which can be accessed via https://www.citizenmonitors.com, automatically attaches context such as timestamps and geolocation to each upload.
Reports are then peer-reviewed by other users before appearing on a live statewide dashboard that displays verified updates in real time.

“Trust grows when people can see the evidence. With this app, Anambra can protect its polling units with facts, not noise,” said Adeshope Haastrup, co-founder of Citizen Monitors.

Olajumoke Alawode-James, the organisation’s spokesperson, added that the platform is designed to make citizens “calm, coordinated witnesses instead of bystanders.”

“Our message is simple: see it, record it, verify it. If each unit plays its part, election day becomes clearer and safer for everyone,” she said.

Citizen Monitors emphasized that users must prioritize safety and neutrality while using the app. It urged participants to keep a safe distance, avoid capturing personal data, and remember that INEC remains the sole authority to declare election results.

The platform clarified that its role is strictly to provide verified, publicly visible evidence of events at polling units, not to make electoral judgments.

Citizen Monitors describes itself as a civic-tech platform that “turns citizen evidence into public accountability” by crowd-verifying election data through structured uploads, GPS stamps, and peer review — enabling Nigerians to see, verify, and share what truly happened at the polls.

The evidence the app will make public will be useless in nigerian courts so what's the use?

Me that I'm super critical. Surprisingly I'm impressed with what I've seen so far after creating a dummy account. The issue now is how to defend it against the mercenaries from political parties and politicians.

I already see a scenario where politicians and/or political parties will initiate a DDOS against the domain on election day. Put this behind cloudflare and possibly have a mobile app that connects over VPN for validated polling unit observers

This will still not stop INEC from rigging elections for politicians. INEC remains the only umpire empowered by law to declare winners in any election. So, CITIZENS MONITOR may have authentic results, but the court of law in their usual GHANA-MUST-GO influenced judgements will still find dubious grounds to fail Nigerians. You see, unless INEC is reformed.........

This is fantastic and if well utilized we improve our elections and increase voter confidence in the process and results.

As the government is not ready to reform INEC or even the Electoral Laws, you think that the Citizens CANNOT do anything possible to have the reforms forced to be brought into existence?

Many things had been exposed in the subsequent elections,, and many progresses had been made too.

More progresses are still to be made before 2027., and that involves the impact of citizens-powered technologies on the credibility of elections..
