2027: ADC Leaders Hold Closed-Door Meeting by Ofunaofu(op): 8:44pm On Oct 07, 2025
Speaking at the meeting, David Mark, Chairman of the party, accused the political class of often putting in place a government that only serves them, promising the coalition, “must change this outdated pattern. We must model a new attitude to leadership across every sphere-public, private, and civic.”

The meeting later went into a closed door session.

Among those present at the event were David Mark, the National Secretary, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, former Governor of Edo State, Osaheimen Osunbor.

Addressing members of the NWC, Mark said their mission is not “only to attain power in 2027; it is to leave a legacy which the future generations will be proud to inherit. We are in a marathon we must compete-and win. Failure is not an option.”

The party chairman said the National Working Committee has urgent tasks. “We must review our constitution to reflect the new order, develop a code of ethics, financing rules, and compliance systems. We must establish functional ward, local government, and state structures with trained organizers, digital registers, and service desks. We will build a leadership pipeline through a merit-based academy-policy, ethics, communications, and delivery.”

He further said, “We will receive reports from the Secretariat and zones and prepare for regular and off-cycle elections well in advance. And we will field only credible and viable candidates who meet the 4-pillar standard-Character, Competence, Courage, and Discipline.

“Nigeria and Nigerians-will accept nothing less. The political class has too often served itself. We must change this outdated pattern. We must model a new attitude to leadership across every sphere-public, private, and civic.

“Let it be said of the ADC that we kept faith with the people, that we were steady under pressure, honest in our dealings, and relentless in delivery. We do not seek power for its own sake; we seek it to build a legacy worthy of our children.”

Speaking on what the ADC will bring to the table, Mark a former President of the Senate said ADC will defend the separation of powers, restore legislative and judicial independence, and strengthen oversight so that budgets serve the public interest, not private appetites, saying “We will end the culture of parallel budgets and extra-budgetary maneuvers by enforcing strict and transparent planning, timely appropriations, and rigorous auditing.

“The judiciary must again be ah refuge for every citizen. We will back an independent, efficient, and trusted bench-appointments on merit, transparent case management, time-bound rulings, and a bias for justice over empty technicalities.

“Nigerians are tired of slogans and statistics that do not translate into their welfare: food, power, jobs, and safety. We will focus on what works. We will pursue price stability and productivity through credible, rules-based coordination of fiscal and monetary policy.

“We will deliver reliable power supply by expanding power generation, fixing transmission bottlenecks, and rewarding distribution performance.

“We will secure our food supply by supporting farmers and agricultural value chains from inputs and storage to processing and markets. We will back small businesses and industry with affordable, performance-tied credit and local content that creates jobs, not rent. And we will shine a bright light on every naira-no parallel budgets, no black-box spending, no sacred cows. Judge us by what Nigerians feel in their daily lives, rhetorics and bland statistics: lower volatility, more reliable power, visible projects, and decent work.

“Our foreign policy will be Pan-African-rooted in regional integration and international peace. We will champion trade within Africa, harmonize standards that open markets for Nigerian goods and services, leverage diaspora capital, and build coalitions that keep our sub-region stable and prosperous.

APC is good at what they know how to do — deceive people, manipulate people, conceal issues. That’s their job; they know how to do it,

If you read the news before commenting (which I know you are incapable of), you would have seen where David Mark said they are going to choose somebody with Character, Competence, Courage and Compassion.

Who else do you think he’s talking about if not Peter Obi - your nightmare?

Anything to get PBAT out of power legitimately by 2027 resonates with me, my family and entire first generation.

Enough of the Naira inflated stattistics to excite the gullible and severe massive hunger in rural Nigeria.

Enough is Enough.

Are you talking about how Oshiomole's Assembly of Past Criminals, APC has fooled us since 2015 with fake promises of change when they only have extreme poverty shege for us due to their cluelessness, corruption and incompetence in governance?

Buhari’ll reduce petrol to N40/L —David-West

FORMER Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Prof. Tamunoemi David-West, said that Nigerians should expect sharp drop in petrol price from the current N87 to about N40 per litre, saying, “the president-elect, Gen. Mohammed Buhari, will reduce the fuel pump price to N40 per litre.”

Petrol should never cost more than N70 per litre, says APC

January 19, 2015

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described as mere tokenism the reduction of petrol price from N97 to N87 per litre, saying the petroleum product ordinarily should sell for N70.

On Sunday, the federal government announced the reduction of petrol price, citing the fall of global crude oil price.

But the APC through Lai Mohammed, its spokesman, on Monday accused the government of making a show out of deceit, saying “a 10.3 per cent slash in the price of petrol was a mere tokenism at a time the price of crude oil has crashed by about 60 per cent”.

It argued that the pump price of a litre of petrol should not be more than 70 Naira, alleging that at N87 per litre, the government was forcing Nigerians to subsidise the massive corruption in the oil sector by N17 for every litre of fuel.

https://www.thecable.ng/petrol-never-cost-n70-per-litre-says-apc/

Deltafirstson:
Although the pump price of fuel was N197 when President Bola Tinubu took over on May 29, 2023, the product now sells for N617 per litre – less than two months after.

In his inaugural address, Tinubu announced that subsidy was gone, fulfilling a promise that all leading presidential candidates made during the campaign.

However, pump price of fuel hit N537 per litre days after Tinubu ended subsidy.

On Tuesday, the price climbed further to N617, a development that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) attributed to “market forces”.

Nigerians have been lamenting the hardship occasioned by fuel price hike. Amid the lamentation, a video where Tinubu campaigned to slash the price of fuel went into circulation.

Checks by Daily Trust affirmed the authenticity of the video uploaded on the YouTube page of Channels Television.

At his campaign rally in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, on January 25, 2023, Tinubu spoke on a number of issues, but those of fuel scarcity and naira redesign made the headlines.

However, Tinubu who spoke in Yoruba language, also assured the crowd that though people were saying petrol price would hit N200, it would be reviewed downward under him.

“The great Nigerian youths, the great Nigerian students, the confident Nigerian youths. This is a revolution. This election is a revolution. They are plotting, but they will fail. They said fuel price will increase and reach N200 per litre. Go and relax, we will bring it down,” he had said in the 7th minute of the video.

King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, a Fuji musician who performed at the rally, interrupted the president’s speech with chants as the crowd cheered.

On the campaign podium with the president were Vice-President Kashim Shettima; Pa Bisi Akande, interim National Chairman of the APC; Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President; Senator Gbenga Daniel; among other bigwigs of the ruling party.

Tinubu went further to say Nigerians would defy the acute fuel scarcity at the time and trek to cast their votes.

“The great Nigerian youths, the great Nigerian students, the confident Nigerian youths. This is a revolution. This election is a revolution. They are plotting, but they will fail. They said fuel price will increase and reach N200/N500 per litre. Go and relax, we will crash the prices,” he had said.

His antecedents was leading 109 senators in using the Doctrine of Necessity to make Jonathan Acting President when Turai and her cabal were holding the country hostage, among other legislative duties that ensured we enjoyed PDP deregulation and privatisation prosperity for 16 years.

Unfortunately, misinformed elements among us allowed Oshiomole's Assembly of Past Criminals, APC swindle us with their change slogans when all they had was extreme poverty shege.

thisweekng:
The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Chief Olawale Edun has said the last time Nigeria’s economy looked stable was about a decade ago.

He made this statement during his maiden press conference as Minister of Finance where he outlined President Bola Tinubu’s vision, agenda and strategy for the economy.

He said, “I think as we all know, we are not where we should be. The economy is barely growing above the rate of population growth.

“But it was not always so, and I think in trying to look at the way forward, if we now have a situation of slow growth, double-digit inflation, weak/depreciating exchange rate, as well as security concerns that are resulting in an economy that is not growing and not taking Nigerians out of poverty.

“If we think back to the last time when the economy was stable- when it was growing, when inflation was low, and the interest rate was affordable, that period was about a decade ago. Growth was about 6% in 2013 and 2014.”

Lagos Resident Laments Economic Hardship, Hunger Under Tinubu, Confesses To Beating Elderly People, Others To Make Tinubu President

A Lagos state resident has lamented his inability to get petroleum despite beating people including the elderly to vote for President Bola Tinubu in 2023.

In a video posted on social media, he narrated how life had been hard for him despite all he did to ensure Tinubu became Nigeria’s President.

He said, “We wanted to buy fuel but we have been unable to get. They even beat us at the petroleum station. I was among those that beat people at Idi-Oro.

“We went from house to house, asking people to vote for you (referring to Tinubu). You emerged as the President and now you are destroying our lives. Getting food to eat is difficult for us.”

He noted that despite the hardship, different agencies in the state have kept milking them through taxation.

"I voted for Jagaban, I was among those that flogged people we refused to vote Tinubu at Idi-oro. We went from House to House attacking people who didn't vote for Jagaban, Today I am regretting”.

He said, “We are suffering in Nigeria, we have become lazy even in our own father’s land. We are drivers and that’s how we survive. LASTMA (Lagos State Traffic Management Agency), VIO (Vehicle Inspection Office) all collect money from us. Please Tinubu, do something about this hardship.

“We are the same people that beat up others so you could become the President. Some of them people we beat were our father’s mates, but we beat them up. We did that just because of you so you could become the President, and we kept saying it was our turn.

“Look at it now, the outcome is suffering, we cannot even buy rice again. You cannot buy N1000 food and be okay. I bought food of N1200 today and my kids have not eaten at home.”

He also expressed worry that he would be beaten for the comments he was making about Tinubu.

“I know that what I have said now, they will still come to beat me at home. I know that for sure,” he said.

ADC and other opposition parties should understand that it’s normal to have almost 15 or 20 candidates at the beginning of the process. Same thing happens in all democratic countries.

The tricky part is to handle the process in a mature and dignified manner that will produce the best possible candidate.
Re: 2027: ADC Leaders Hold Closed-Door Meeting by jchioma: 8:31am On Oct 08, 2025
Any attempt to put forward an Atiku candidacy will meet a dead end. The South must complete their turn of 8 years, either with Jonathan, Obi or even Tinubu.

No he was not in the meeting.

They offered to give one of his minion Obidients a juicy national position in the Party but he turned it down saying they shouldn't hold Primaries in the normal way, fair enough we all know that is just to rubber stamp Atiku, they should do Primaries in some kind of populist online voting way which will favour him as his Obidients will tip the scales in his favour.

Seeing as he is not even a member of the Party, they effectively told him to get lost and come back when he regains his senses or some humility, whichever comes first grin
