Whatever songs they sang for him doesn't matter,it is what he has done that will judge him not songs they sang for him. |

I'm not surprised. People never liked disciplinarian leaders. And this happens in many government parastatals. It's something I've witnessed before. So, it's not new. |

Maxymilliano:It's not a funeral song “God Be With You Till We Meet Again”, which was written by Jeremiah Rankin, was simply composed so his church choir could have something to sing when they parted each week |

madridguy:Yakubu has done well because he brought Tinubu to power via dubious and rigged election results, abi? You should note that what goes round comes around. It will still come to haunt many of you who don't believe in equal justice and fair play. Yakubu installed a misfit in cahoots with the presidency, and you say he did well during his tenure. Don't worry. Kontinu 😔 |

madridguy:Yes na he did well by helping your lord and Savior rig elections. In 2019 he claimed there was no server then in 2023 he claimed the server had a glitch and produced the usual bulaba results. He should wait for God's judgement. You can fool man but you can't fool the maker. |

Jayhome24:You are speaking as if your president is for southwest and Kwara only, not Nigeria. You ethnicize everything as if it's your people only whose votes brought him to power. Not other segment of Nigerian society. Be careful how you approach issues. Otherwise, you water down the zeal of other ethnic nationalities to vote for him, come 2027. Nigeria has never been so divided as it is under Tinubu's presidency. It's sad 😭 |

The story behind the hymn "God Be With You Till We Meet Again" is that Jeremiah E. Rankin wrote it in 1882 as a Christian blessing for parting, inspired by the meaning of "goodbye" (an abbreviation of "God be with you" . The hymn's first stanza was sent to composer William G. Tomer, who composed the melody, and then Rankin added further verses and a chorus. It was originally intended for his church choir to sing at the end of their weekly meetings and quickly became a popular and cherished hymn for farewells and blessings in various Christian denominations and even for soldiers during wartime. |

Jayhome24:You people always use sentiment and tribalism to do things in this country, what if she is an Igbo? So Delta people don’t have rights to be handling sensitive positions? The staff sang a farewell song to their retiring boss so what’s now the issues? Una just too dey push agenda 🤭 |

I expect him to officially pick up his APC membership card and probably contest the next election as a senator or governor using the settlement money he received from the last 2 presidential elections. |

| Re: INEC Staff Send Off Ex-Chairman Mahmood Yakubu With 'Funeral' Hymn by Dantedasz(m): 9:16pm On Oct 08, 2025 |
That hymn is sung at the departure of persons from an organisation although it can also be sung during funerals as well. However what baffles me is why a Christian hymn is being sung for Mahmood who apparently is a Muslim and as such probably has no meaning or bearing to him like water off a ducks back. Mahmood would probably be more scared had his now ex~workers pelted his departure with cold bags of pure water. This has happened in many other government departments and organisations to departing chief executives. Yakubu Mahmood was actually very lucky. |
