Though I am not a fan of Rufai but I dont think he meant to disrespect the Minister but this is Africa, many things can pass for an insult.

His approach often derail conversations into confrontations, Seun Akinbaloye ask tough questions too but he keeps it professional.

He actually was infuriated already by constitent attack by UMahi is countenance and body language showed it all. However the minister had explain well but because Rufai was already angry by the statement he made. He was hell bent on a particular question which has been dealt with. However both were wrong the question could have been answered without Egoism again.

We know there is corruption and the figures were already inflated.

Arise TV: Where truth meets courage! Their journalists aren't for sale - they tell it like it is! If you're a politician with a clean slate, come to Arise TV. They will grill you, but they will be fair. No sugarcoating, just real talk. Integrity matters, and so does a free press!
GOD BLESS ARISE TV,

Why should I be polite interviewing someone who is executing a road contract where 1km cost 4.6 billion naira...are you people okay in Nigeria ?

I'm with Oseni on this one.

However, he should have the same 'confrontational' energy when interviewing folks from the other side (non APC/Obi).

Sha be fair++++

Perhaps this one did not watch the particular interview.

Telling Umahi to shut up is what? Compliment?

Make una stop supporting things blindly
You lied, he didn't tell him shut up, I watched the interview from beginning to end, Dave Umeahi was the one insulting him from the time he was answering questions from Dr Abati, Rufai said if you can quiet and listen to questions because Umeahi was shouting at him.

If it was babajide kolade otitoju of TVC news that interviewed Dave umahi, he would have been ass licking him up and down.

I watched his recorded interview yesterday with the akwa ibom governor, see the way baba was just using style to hero worship the governor. grin

Man must survive
@bolded. You mean Otitoju.

Thank God for Rufai. He is made of steel. The minister is known to have caused the disappearance of people who asked questions in ebonyi when he was governor. He was shocked when he was challanges for the first time. Umahi is a small boy. A non performer. All the roads he built in Ebonyi are washed off.
At least those who snatched it know there are studios you dare not go to.
Up Oseni baba

Umahi had better be grateful to Rufai for asking him relevant questions now.

The Road is a classic costal pleasure to the eyes but heavily overinflated.

You have simply expressed your personal opinion, not our opinion or general opinion.

Thanks but no thank you.
Who is the "our"?

Is there anything said the the "personal opinion" that is not true?

If there is, can you point them out and negate them?

He's too assertive.
Why shouldn't he be?

If you give someone ordinary 10k to do something for you, will you not be assertive so as to ensure you get value for your money?

Insult to who?

if you give a workman your money to do a job for you, you will be pampering him when he cannot tell you what he will do or what he has done with your money because it is Africa?
Re: Rufai Oseni: An Anchor In The Eye Of The Storm By Umar Sani by nedekid:
Who is the minister that tough questions cannot be asked for goodness sake? All this over respect is what has held Nigerians back, showing respect to the extent you cannot ask how your money is spent!
Oga from January you will be forced to pay heavy taxes, your hard earned money will be taken from you by government for public service, if this does not bring awareness in Nigerians to sit up and demand accountability, then we are all the most stupid people in the world! Have you not wondered why people in Nepal and other places will not take half the crap we put up with in this country? It is because they are aware it is their money been spent by politicians. Wike will get up and sai "I" gave you road, he will ride bullet proof maybach, rolls Royce with tax payers money, your money, and then talk to you anyhow, oppress you with your own tax money, spend 39b of your money renovating a building and then say you should go to hell of you question the extravagance! Howwwww!!. In which army?
Oga you are a minister, a public servant out to serve us, you are spending our money, we will ask you questions, an 18 year old that has started paying tax will ask you any question and you must answer, keep your age and pride in you pocket or resign if not ready for scrutiny!

Rufai oseni is not a journalist and can never be one , he is just an ordinary rude on air personality trying to find his niche by feeding on the popularity of his guests.

Rufai Oseni does not ass lick anyone.
He asks factual questions and needs practical answers.

God bless him.

I challenge you to mention one rude, arrogant or disrespectful comment that Rufai uttered during the interview.
Then you don't understand polite rudeness... Like saying "dad don't be stupid"

Have you called him stupid?

Rufai ask the right questions with the wrong attitude and it's obvious in his character when it comes to opposition to the Lp
Re: Rufai Oseni: An Anchor In The Eye Of The Storm By Umar Sani by israelmao(m):
Oseni shouldn't be cowled or blowed to mere intimidation by those who think they hold no citizens they claim to lead detailed explanation and accountability.A leader that can't be asked and answered vital questions about his public functions deserves no more time in office.

THREAD: Rufai Oseni — Preaches “Objectivity,” Practices Double Standards 🧵

1 Rufai Oseni of Arise TV loves to grill politicians with “tough questions” and lectures on facts. But when you look closely at his on-air record, a pattern of selective aggression emerges — one for APC, another for Peter Obi and Labour Party.

2 With APC guests, Rufai often takes a combative tone. Jesutega Onokpasa’s subsidy debate turned into a shouting match as Rufai repeatedly interrupted. APC figures like Joe Igbokwe have publicly accused him of arrogance, lack of manners, and bias on live TV.

3 Yet when Peter Obi or Labour Party supporters are in the hot seat, that same energy disappears. The probing questions soften, interruptions are rare, and his interviews take on a noticeably friendlier tone. Tough journalism shouldn’t depend on party colour.

4 In Edo 2024, Rufai mocked APC publicly, claiming their candidate demanded $1M to appear on Arise TV. Whether or not the figure was exact, the point is this: he used his platform to ridicule one party while not applying the same theatrical criticism elsewhere.

5 APC stakeholders have repeatedly filed complaints about his conduct. Joe Igbokwe called for his sack from Arise TV, accusing him of lacking journalistic decorum. Others say his interviews feel more like cross-examinations when APC is involved.

6 Rufai often positions himself as a neutral umpire demanding “empirical facts.” Yet when allegations were made about his proximity to certain politicians (which Peter Obi denied), Rufai didn’t give himself the same rigorous on-air scrutiny he demands from others.

7 These incidents don’t exist in isolation. Together, they reveal a clear double standard in tone, questioning style, and narrative framing — harsh and confrontational with APC, soft and accommodating with Peter Obi and Labour Party figures.

8 Journalism thrives on credibility. When a journalist applies different standards to different guests, it stops being accountability and starts looking like activism in disguise. Rufai Oseni can’t be the referee and a player at the same time.

9 Nigerians deserve balanced questioning — not selective outrage. If you preach neutrality, apply it evenly. Facts shouldn’t depend on political alignment.

10 Conclusion: Rufai Oseni has built his brand on “fearless journalism,” but his on-air behaviour shows selective fire. True credibility comes from consistency, not partisanship dressed up as objectivity.
