I still keep wondering if ASUU is the only organized union in this country. They have truncated innocent students faith with so many incessant strike. No other union has caused havoc and damage to the educational sector than them. Private universities are doing well by managing their resources accordingly, tho at a very exorbitant rate. But even overseas, education doesn't come cheap. The current governor must find a lasting solution to this reoccurring issues that have been outstanding for ages. |

For crying out loud, what do this ASUU people want? I have been seeing over the past weeks, recruitments by many universities. This shows that the FG has increased their allocation. They need to apply some patience too. Things will change gradually. |

Why cant they invest just 3% of that amount in Education and 2% in health then steal the rest of the money as usual by buying expensive properties in UK US and CANADA |

ASUU no go get mind go strike after all the funds being released to them by FG. Organization of greedy old men who prefer to hold their students to ransom, rather than facing their problems squarely with the FG |

Y'all talking ignorantly here. D'you know how many agreements FG had with ASUU since the 2000s, which the FG has not honored till date? When ASUU calls for strike, FG would organize one useless committee or the other & play to the gallery, and that has been FG's game plan till date. But when ASUU calls for strike, ASUU is the bad guy, huh? |

This government is insensitive to the plight of Nigerian university lecturers, Nigerian professors, who produced best medical and science brains, legal brains and engineering brains etc are paid less than 350 dollars per month. Nigerian professors are the most impoverished professors in the whole of west Africa. This is the worst country in Africa to be a professor. The wickedness of this current government is terrifying. This current Nigerian government has no regards to education, they have totally destroyed the university education. If a professor is being paid 350 dollars per month, where is the motivation to work? Education is the tap root of every nation development and this government of certificate forgers and touts are fighting ASUU in order to totally destroy it completely. Because uneducated society, is a society that can be easily manipulated. |

There is insincerity on the part of Government. The Minister is saying that money has been allocated for this and that. Arrears will be paid in 2026 etc. Once ASUU stop agitating, the Government will not do anything for them and the cycle will continue next year. Arrears is what you are owing them from the work they have already done. At least settle that to show how serious you are |

The Federal Government under the leadership of Tinubu is very terrible and not straight forward. How will the Minister of Education denied that there was no agreement in 2009? ASUU should not trust whatever committee the FG set up. Aluta continua! |

I think it's high time both the FG & ASUU come to the negotiating table to resolve all these agreements that were never reached nor implemented. |

yinkus6750:Why has ASUU not forced the operators of private universities to join them? Labor law says when organizations have a staff strength in excess of 100 persons they re eligible to form or join unions. Do you really think the staff at the private varsities are well off? The prolonged problems of ASUU are a pointer to the governments priorities which excludes education. |

Redoil:What’s the combined budget for health and education? Should we jeopardize the stability of the FX market being enjoyed by 150 million Nigerians because of less than 2 million in the universities? They should proceed with their strike; it’ll be the last strike they’ll ever do because the government will be forced to finally do the right thing, which is to sell schools to private owners and fund higher school fees through student loans. NURTW, that’s more important to the daily lives of Nigerians, has not gotten 1% of the attention and funds ASUU has gotten over the years. Yet, if they choose to go on strike, right, it’s a national shutdown—tertiary education is not a right. In fact, I’d rather the government focus on primary and secondary education and sell off all these leeches. |

Chikarata2020:The problem is wale edun the minister of finance, very incompetent, I don't know why Tinubu is still holding on to him, many monies that Tinubu has approved ,he will not release them ,from contractors,to workers,to pensioners, even ASUU,you will wonder what the guy is doing there,Edun is part of the people that will make Tinubu loose election, if the election is credible, he is causing people pains by holding on to payments for too long after approval |

yinkus6750:Politics have taken over your sense of reasoning...go and teach yourself na...won't the lecturers feed their families, even if you are allergic to good educational infrastructure and good learning environment, other students are not allergic to those... What's stopping you and your politically blinded fellows from building your own private universities where your students can comfortably sit under a leaking roof, where medical students have no lab for practical, where your lecturers can go 6 months without salaries. ...the list is endless |

yinkus6750:The difference is that it is difficult to compromise ASUU by bribery of the chief executives. A Policeman earns more than a Professor at the same Rank. World class results is expected from Lecturers while input is below third-world! Your Government doesn't even know why they have Tertiary institutions other than to keep the youths out of trouble! The problem is deeper than you think! |

The minister should go and sit down, there is nothing like patience in this. Every time, FG never comply with agreements they have with them, while they keep borrowing and looting heavy amounts of money .. |
