BlueRayDick:Another angle, not quite what I was thinking. In fact, on deeper reflection I completely disagree with your stance Make I articulate my thoughts. Pls follow me reason. 1. I think she jumped off the balcony herself without any struggle. (I assume it was from the balcony because windows typically have burglary proof bars). Fear and panic can make people do that under threat conditions. Moreso, under extreme panic situations, adrenaline kicks in and the distance of the ground from a third floor balcony can suddenly appear like the distance from a car rooftop. 2. The media, eye witness, neighbours, robbers confession and police reports are all consistent in one thing - that she jumped. None reported signs of struggle or attempted molestation/assault. Also, if a/the robber(s) did try to molest her, she would have been overpowered and held in the living room/bedroom and wouldn't have made it to the balcony that she jumped from. 3. Your alignment with media narrative theory no add up. It assumes the robbers are intelligent and gives them too much credit. I mean, there is no incentive for them to adopt the media narrative. We all know the police did not extract the confession from the robbers across table interview or by promising lighter incarceration time like we see in movies. Those robbers were tortured and put through excruciating pain, and under such condition will not have the presence and clarity of mind to to align their story with the public version. 4. Your assertion that the robbers gave false confession to avoid charges of manslaughter/murder too no follow. Again, it gives too much credence to the robbers. I suspect they're illiterate or of little education. and I doubt dem sabi law like that. I also think under the law, armed robbery resulting in death attracts the death penalty in Nigeria.. So there's no real advantage in the robbers claiming she jumped and they tried to stop her unless its true Finally, I know I'd get flak for this, but the fact that only the security guard (who was shot for trying to prevent the entry of the robbers) and Miss Somto who jumped from her 3rd floor apartment died in the whole 3-storey twin apartments building leads me to conclude that she'd be alive today if she hadn't panicked and jumped. semid4lyfe:The reason you have fire drills etal is to train people in how to react in an emergency. Eg have a plan to hide in the ceiling. In 1998/9 we were robbed in ilorin. The robbers made short work of the burglary proof (civil state artisans) but before they finally breached the window, we retreated to the kitchen store and hid there. The robbers possibly limited themselves to the bedroom, but long story short, they did not find us. Four hours later we came out. I guess my mother may have had that plan in her head all along because she is the one who made us retreat there. Have a plan for a robbery attack. It is the same way people were jumping out of windows in that uba adjacent tragedy. |

semid4lyfe:You think she would jump down to the robbers? What makes sense is if they were already closing in on her and probably making obscene gestures? She would not have jumped unless she considers it the last resort to save herself. This is not some random lady. This is someone who is very much exposed. Whichever way, never try to defend evil. As for the bolded, while it may sound true, it may not necessarily be true. S long as someone was shot dead, another person could also have been a victim. |

@semid4lyfe I don't want to quote the entire post because I see others have quoted same. I honestly don't think she jumped simply because she was about to be robbed. You made assertions about eyewitness accounts but I doubt if there was indeed any eyewitness in the real sense of the word. I don't think the other occupants of the building who were getting robbed simultaneously would have time to peep to see whether the lady was about to be molested before she fell to her death or whether he just jumped of her own volition. It's actually a very strange behavior that she would jump to her death to avoid losing valuables to robbers. Maybe when their trial starts we would get more details of what really transpired that night. |

BlueRayDick:Were any of the other female occupants of the building physically molested? |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 5:51pm On Oct 09, 2025 |
semid4lyfe:No, but that could be because of the tragedy that had already happened which forced the robbers to leave hurriedly. If you read the report of the police especially the part that talked about how much the robbers shared amongst themselves from the proceeds of the robbery you will see that it was an insignificant amount which suggests the operation was not a successful one as a result of the tragedy that happened. She may have been the first victim of the rape or maybe it was the set of robbers alloted to her wing of the building that went rogue by trying to take advantage of her. ( The initial report says the robbers divided themselves into groups in order to speed up the robbery) |

semid4lyfe:You sef check am nau. The story doesn't add up about her jumping to her death. She saw robbers who just wanted to rob, and then she decided that killing herself was better? Odiegwu The part where one of them was trying to save her even validates my speculation. Armed robber wan save ke? What was he even doing close to her at the balcony? The confrontation went beyond robbery for her. She panicked and jumped. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by GloriousGbola: 5:59pm On Oct 09, 2025 |
semid4lyfe:Her jumping from the window if not because of attempted ra pe was likely due to panic. This is the same reason those heirs house casualties jumped from the window. Panic A reason for fire drills is to prepare people to take the right action in a fire emergency. In the same vein it is important to have a plan for fire or robbery in your house. When you do, you will not panic but take measured steps. Eg identify a hiding place in your home beforehand. Planning cannot solve everything, but it can make your response easier. I used our case as an example. The robbers started breaking through a window. When they were half way through we retreated to a store in the house. |

izzou:When you see a gang with ammunitions coming your way, You dont know what they "Just" want to do as you no dey their minds She might have assumed they were coming to assassinate her and no option is off the table if you think your life is at risk. In a panic, That is also not the time for detailed logical well thought out plans |

raumdeuter:For women? It was not her own house. It was a block of apartments. A security had already been shot, so already everybody has gotten the memo. If truly she wanted to jump out of fear, how come a robber was close by to save her, but her weight was much? You came to steal and kill, and still came with compassion to save? We have seen and heard these kind of stories especially for females. Group of men come to steal, and after stealing, they decide to enjoy themselves with the helpless female |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by raumdeuter: 6:16pm On Oct 09, 2025 |
izzou:My point is that she probably didnt know what was on their mind, seeing gun totting men who had already shot someone was enough warning to her. If they enter her room then she can rightly assume they were also coming to kill her. When cultists came to our school, By the time you hear gunshot close to your floor, Many people jumped from 2nd floor even if the cultists ended up not going to their room or they were not even the target since they didnt know the mind of the killers In such situations many people have done worst things just to escape, In the face of danger to your life, you will do anything even if some might think its not sensible. They were not in your shoes Some people actually jumped from World Trade center many floors up when they faced what seemed to them like sure death |

raumdeuter:So what was the robber doing close to her nau? How did he appear there to save? There are women that would rather die, than let a man man forcefully have sex with them. This is someone who has a wedding in December, and then seeing 21 to 23 year old boys with weapons.....If it was just robbery, you think she wouldn't just give up her belongings and live? |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by izzou(m): 6:26pm On Oct 09, 2025 |
BlueRayDick:We have seen these stories repeatedly. Group of men go to rob. After robbing, they see a helpless female that they can feast on. She jumped from her balcony, but a robber was already there to save her. Superman! |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by raumdeuter: 6:29pm On Oct 09, 2025 |
izzou:Robbers don already shoot someone, They are entering her room, She doesn't know what is on their mind. It might range from Shooting, murdering macheting, rape, slap or obtaining. Thre are many options there in her mind Savior story is from the robber likely with intention to get a softer sentence by appearing to be nice |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by semid4lyfe(m): 6:29pm On Oct 09, 2025 |
izzou:Baba, the rape angle no make sense rara. If the robbers had tried to molest her, there would have been noise, struggle, torn clothing, signs of force/physicality but none of that was mentioned anywhere. You probably underestimate how disoriented she was during the robbery. She panicked, adrenaline kicked in, she wasn't thinking straight and she jumped out of fear for her life, and not because the robbers tried to rape her. Until there’s a report pointing to sexual assault, the rape theory is just speculation built on emotion, not fact. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 6:31pm On Oct 09, 2025 |
raumdeuter:So the people who would lie that they tried to Save her could not also be telling lies about she jumping? Those claiming she jumped are making assumptions that can easily be invalidated with the cocckk and bull story of robbers attempting to become super hero. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by raumdeuter: 6:32pm On Oct 09, 2025 |
semid4lyfe:This is similar to what I have been trying to say, when faced with certain situations you dont settle to think it through, Its just to make a decision and hope you are right Robbers are here. Its only later we know they are robbers after money, at that point she might be thinking they are assassins |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by izzou(m): 6:33pm On Oct 09, 2025 |
semid4lyfe:So how did the robber get to the balcony to save her? I mean...We are going with the story, right? How come we have a robber trying to save the victim, and he was already at the balcony? |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by raumdeuter: 6:33pm On Oct 09, 2025 |
BlueRayDick:The story about her jumping didnt come from the robbers, That story has been out since day 1 before the robbers were caught, Its the robbers after they were caught that brought the savior angle into it |
