Hmmmm... I understand you though, but I don't like distractions when I want to rest or sleep, so my phone is either on DND or switched off..

I hope and pray nothing bad happens anyway

That's the most abused function on the iphone...90% of people who uses DND in Nigeria are either nuisance or mad people especially these genz.
I do logistics and imagine all of these customers phone is always on DND almost Everytime.

One problem I’ve noticed with many Nigerians is that we love using things without fully understanding how and when they should be used — and that often leads to misuse.

Ever since I started living alone, my phone is always on and reachable — loud ringtone, data on, and “available” status. To me, it’s common sense. If someone calls at 2am, I assume it’s an emergency.

My pastor once shared a story about a man who was kidnapped on his way from Lagos to Ibadan for a burial. The first group (going to the same burial) driving ahead of him narrowly escaped the kidnappers and kept trying to call to warn him — but his phone was on silent mode. He didn’t pick up, drove straight into danger, and was taken. Thankfully, he survived, but when he was released, he later told them that he 12 missed calls on his phone after the kidnappers surrounded and abducted him. Those calls could have saved him if only his phone hadn’t been silent.

That story stuck with me.

With the security challenges we face in this country, it’s not wise to put your phone permanently on DND or silent. Think about it —

What if there’s trouble in your neighborhood and someone’s trying to warn you?

What if a loved one has an emergency and can’t reach you?

What if a job or opportunity comes your way, but your phone is unreachable?

We live in unpredictable times, and staying reachable is more than convenience — it’s a safety measure.

Let’s be more alert and intentional. Living in Nigeria sometimes feels like living in a war zone, and awareness is one of the few defenses we have.

That no stop me from putting my phone silent or on plane mode if I want to sleep. I can't have hectic day and still can't rest well for 2morrow's work because of phone call.

The person death isn't his faults. There are power higher that ensure the guy was unalive.

You don’t know CPR and somebody is dating you?
Only highly irresponsible and illiterates won’t know the importance of knowing CPR in this age

There are some people that shouldn’t be allowed to date because of their ignorance

The main problem is those who turn off their phones to sleep.

Some people always try to justify stupidity
Until it is to be reached cause of something urgent the no go see you

I silent my phone if I have to sleep during the day. I once missed site inspection for a contract because of this. Inspectors called to confirm I was around for them to visit but my phone was on silence as I was sleeping.

But I still silence my phone if I sleep during the day

This is exactly what happened to someone whose her shops is close to my wife shop few weeks ago when there was a fire incident

She was called from 1am till dawn but her phone was switched off

Her shop was burnt halfway before the arrival of the fire service

Some shops got burnt completely tho

I may not have issues with anyone putting his phone on DND, but I would have issues with you if you've got something to give and you decide to be acting in this manner.

Though, I understand that midnight calls could be scary or look scary, but we must learn to expect the unexpected at any giving time.

I am neither a medic nor a fighter. Why call me first during emergency? You should call those trained to save life first.

I don't think i can leave my house on late hours, life or death anything can wait till morning

My phone is currently on DND and will continue to be.

Never had life threatening emergency call, and will never have

So what am I expected to do, if you're in an emergency situation.......

DND might work for others, but in my case as a doctor, I’m unconsciously at alert even in my sleep even when I’m not on duty

I'm beginning to change my mind after reading this post. But all those unwanted messages and calls can be so annoying

My phones are never switched off... 24/7 switch on throughout the years..... No leave no transfer.... That's how you know how reliable a person is in this world.....

Nah ✈️ I use at nite.U can't wake up at 3/4 and leave out/come back at 9pm after struggling with traffic jam,only for some people to come dey disturb yo PEACE.

Some will even switch data off in the name of managing data
