Yes sir indeed, pellow kwantiri-mans, you heard it here first. The head of Nigeria's drug enforcement agency, our man Buba Marwa, has issued directives that will ultimately legalize a regulated and taxed cannabis market for the purpose of producing non-psychoactive CBD oil for the export market. In layman's terms, it will soon be possible for Nigerian entrepreneurial farmers to apply for a government permit to cultivate cannabis for the production of CBD oil that will revolutionize the export market revenue that accrues to Nigeria and her citizens. This unexpected development will one day be regarded by historians as a major turning point in the fortunes of Nigeria that will be comparable to the day crude oil was discovered under the waters of the Niger Delta half a century ago. https://businessday.ng/news/article/nigeria-eyes-40-billion-global-cannabis-oil-market-as-ndlea-okays-regulated-exports/ |

Sowore has been calling for this long time ago. Nigeria will make lots of $$$$s from CBD exports. Though this policy has to be strictly regulated before people begin to abuse it on a larger scale. |

Godfullsam:The expectation that cannabis will be abused by people who never touched it previously, when it is legalized, is NOT supported by any scientific facts. Cigarettes, tobacco snuff and alcohol are all legal to buy in Nigeria, yet the number of cigarette smokers or drunkards that one encounters in Nigeria is far smaller than is seen in many other parts of the world like the UK and France, for example, where tobacco addiction is a major threat that even claims school children as addicts. Likewise, the fact that alcohol has always been legal to buy, use and sell in Nigeria has NOT resulted in the mass abuse of alcohol in Nigeria. In my small social circle of Nigerian friends, I don't know of any drunkards or cigarette smokers at all, by way of example. No sir, the recreational use of cannabis will not change in any perceptible way once growing this medicinal plant is legalized. Those who loved getting high on weed will continue to do so, but they will NOT be joined by others who are inspired by the legalization of cannabis to start using it for the first time. |

helinues:With the green light now given by our man Buba Marawa to end the prohibition of cannabis in Nigeria, the next step is going to be a legislative amendment that Nigerian lawmakers will fine tune and formalize, whereby the licensing and regulatory framework for Nigeria's new multi-BILLION dollar cannabis CBD oil industry will be documented for implementation. With the amiable NDLEA boss Marwa now on board with a brave plan to revitalize the Nigerian economy via the highly lucrative cannabis industry, it will take a few months before the colonial-era cannabis prohibition laws of the uninformed past can finally be flushed down into the septic tank of history. Look at the math accounting of the staggering wealth that CBD oil can start to generate for Nigeria within one year, and every year thereafter. Take this raw price per liter comparison between Bonny Light crude oil that is the current mainstay of Nigeria's economy, and CBD cannabis oil. The current price of Nigeria's Bonny Light crude oil stands at $78 USD per statutory oil barrel that is defined as 159 liters. The website that lists current crude oil prices is here : https://oilprice.com/oil-price-charts/4189 The price per liter of Bonny Light Crude oil is therefore $78 (per barrel) divided by 159 liters ( per barrel) = 49 cents USD per liter That other far more valuable oil called CBD oil, that comes from the cannabis plant, sells for between $200 and $1,000 USD per liter according to this authoritative website on the subject. https://whatiswaterwebsite.com/how-much-is-a-liter-of-cbd-distillate/ Now, comparing Nigeria's Bonny Light crude oil that sells for 49 cents (half a UD dollar) per liter, and the CHEAPEST price for CBD oil which is $200, it is thus evident that CBD oil sells at 400 times the price per liter than the price of crude petroleum oil, with that ratio rising far higher if the more expensive prices of CBD oil are used for this comparative price analysis. Nigeria is on a sure footing right now to experience an economic BOOM the likes of which have never been seen in living history, thanks to the profound wisdom, pragmatism, foresight and strategic planning of the current Nigerian president, His Excellency Bola Tinubu, and his sagacious NDLEA head honcho, Retired General Buba Marwa. A new glorious dawn has broken in Nigeria, whose impact will transform lives, along with the whole trajectory of Nigeria's destiny that today looks more promising than ever. |

meobizy:The equation variable than many forget to consider is the deluge of foreign investment dollars that will flow like a tidal wave into the Nigerian economy as investment venture capital to fund the construction of high-tech CBD oil distillation infrastructure comparable to that found in those industrialized nations where the CBD industry traces its origins. In tropical Africa, solar power offers great promise as the primary energy source for the non-polluting CBD distillation process, but far more crucially, Nigeria's year round Equatorial weather and abundantly rich agricultural soil will translate into continuous year-round mega-yields of medicinal cannabis whose production will incur comparatively low energy bills associated with artificial lighting that would be optional in West Africa but mandatory in the northern-hemisphere nations spanning the EU to the USA. In short, Nigeria's location just 6-degrees of latitude north of the Equator, means that daylight hours are consistently 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of nighttime, year round, without the wide seasonal variation of daylight hours seen in Europe and North America's Summer and Winter solstices. That consistent 12 hour day and night cycle in West Africa and other Equatorial nations makes possible the cultivation of THREE annual crops in contrast to just ONE growing season that is possible for outdoor cannabis cultivation in the northern hemisphere's temperate climate nations. |

3exe3:Having no direct experience in the process of CBD extraction, your important question led me to conduct some research online. The most informative website I have found thus far on the CBD extraction process is at the following link. The following quotation taken from the linked page below refers to industrial hemp and NOT to cannabis sativa or cannabis indica that are both selectively bred to contain high percentages of CBD, with LOW percentages of the psychoactive THC content that gives the weed "high" that is sought by most recreational cannabis users. "On average, a decent grower can expect between 1500 to 2500 pounds of biomass per acre of hemp. Beginners can normally expect to get roughly a liter of 60% crude oil from 15 to 30 pounds weight of plant material." https://www.newphaseblends.com/how-much-cbd-oil-can-one-plant-produce/ |

| Re: Cannabis Set To Be LEGALIZED For Nigeria's Export Market - Buba Marwa NDLEA Boss by Jakumo(op): 10:29am On Oct 10, 2025 |
helinues:Correct. Nigeria's impending legislative change to cannabis laws that has just been announced by NDLEA boss Marwa, is at first glance almost identical to the recent selective legalization of low-TCH / high-CBD hemp and cannabis plants in Ghana. While Ghana still forbids the recreational use of marijuana, it now recognizes the huge economic potential of cultivating industrial hemp, or low THC strains of cannabis sativa, that are NOT psychoactive, for the end use of being processed via distillation into that medicinal liquid gold called CBD oil, for both export and medical applications within Nigeria. |

Sensible government. Good moves. Some places like California and Canada are making billions of dollars a year selling cannabis around the world! Yet Nigeria where the thing grows naturally in the bush, was dilly-dallying. Leaving money on the table. Well, better late than never. This will create a LOT of jobs for Nigerian youths. Massive. CBD Oil, CBD gums, CBD capsules, the list is endless, and global demand for anything CBD or medicinal weed is super-high. |
| Re: Cannabis Set To Be LEGALIZED For Nigeria's Export Market - Buba Marwa NDLEA Boss by Jakumo(op): 11:12am On Oct 10, 2025 |
3exe3:Religious beliefs were certainly among the reasons that cannabis remained illegal in Nigeria for so long after the nation's independence in 1960, so it is a huge relief to see those old colonial laws banning such a medically beneficial plant, now being unceremoniously consigned to the dustbin of history where they have belonged for generations. By the same token, I find it odd that cigarettes and alcohol which are both deadly poisons, remain perfectly legal to buy, sell, and consume throughout much of this world including Nigeria. This proposed legalization of cannabis is a step in the right direction that will create thousands of new jobs and accrue vast fortunes in greenback dollars for Nigeria's economy, and her people. |

Elliotwaveforec:One hopes that all those who are languishing in jail for simple possession of cannabis, and especially those involved in growing cannabis, can be released and given the opportunity to become cannabis cultivation consultants (CCC). Once this medicinal plant has been removed from the dangerous drug list, those wrongly jailed for their involvement in its trade should be pardoned, released from jail, and rehabilitated where necessary. Conversely, the applicable legal penalties should be increased for possession and sale of deadly Class A drugs like methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, codeine, and even synthetic cannabis. The seller of any drug that is known to cause addiction, illness and death, should be jailed for life without the option of paying any fine. If Nigerian law currently allows terrorists who have committed multiple murders to go scot free after they have "repented" for their multiple homicides, then there is no reason why that same spirit of forgiveness cannot be extended to non-violent weed smokers, growers and sellers. |

dollypi:For sure I'd love to be a legal and licensed cannabis farmer in Nigeria, and this aspiration will probably come to pass once the laws are amended to allow the legal cultivation of cannabis for export or local medical use. I agree with you that there are so many other deadly drugs whose possession or trafficking are NOT adequately penalized in Nigeria. If I were made a dictator of Nigeria for one day, I would mandate 70 years in prison with hard labor for smoking or selling tobacco or cigarettes, while alcohol possession would be penalized with just one year jail, followed by ten years probation AND a fine of 500K naira. |
