Sometimes I wonder what difference it makes before death.

Knowing only the living enjoys anything even accolades makes one wonder.

Ah, I get it. It's for the descendants... Come on... huh undecided

There's something about writing about the bleakness of existence and nobel laureate

Think Albert Camus and Jean-Paul Satre
Think Alexander Solzhenitsyn too.

This was what somebody won in Nigeria and became so arrogant to the point of feeling as if he is the most intelligent man in Nigeria.

He even chased away his wife and became the Capone of a secret cult, just because of this little award o!

Look at how quiet this man is

Africans and awards nawaoo!

Wole soyinka has been vocal before Nobel prize.
His vocal nature in support of Biafra earned him jail term.

What do you even know about the man?...you know someone is quiet from just picture? 😆

Next time, speak with fact and not just hate

Nobody in my family has won the Nobel prize, and I'm 100% sure nobody in your family has ever won it either.
Yes and somebody in my family has won a world cup for Nigeria and nobody in his family has ever won a world cup before.

He is not better than us in everything my dear and we are not losing our head because my younger brother was among the team who won a world cup for Nigeria.

Please shift.

Congratulations to Mr. Laszlo!
The Omoluabis of South West Nigeria celebrate you and hold you in the highest esteem for winning the prestigious Nobel Prize in Literature. Suffice it to say that one of us here, Professor Wole Soyinka — a great Omoluabi — won it for Africa and humanity for the first time in 1986.

Surprisingly, some people from across the River Niger harbor resentment toward Wole Soyinka and the Yoruba people for that milestone achievement, believing their own kinsman should have received the honor. Let’s hope they won’t direct similar resentment toward you — they often dislike seeing others succeed.

Envy is an unfortunate thing.

Shocking but true..

The award of 24 karate Gold, a diploma certificate for your award and the sum of 1002200 dollars.. is still being bankrolled by Alfred Nobel himself since 1857..

Ask me how.. I will explain

Chinese has nothing to do with this.

I love the man's Things Fall Apart.
I read it over four decades ago.

Things are still falling apart in Nigeria. The novel is prophetic.

I hope islamism will not scatter Nigeria eventually.

I just inquired what language the Nobel prize winner writes his book.

It's for those of you who think that Yoruba, Igbos, Wolof, Hausa, Swahili, Gikuyu, Zulu or any other African language cannot be used to win a Nobel laureate.

The author writes in his native language but his books gets translated into many other languages, including English.

That's what is called a literary giant for real. He didn't sell-out his people or culture in exchange for the award, instead he won the award promoting his language. If I had the resources, I'll be in Hungary tomorrow morning to shake his hands and have a conversation with him.

Grok's answer is below.

I came across a reference to Samuel Beckett this week, and mused about Kafka last week. And now Mr Laszlo whose stories have similar themes with these writers wins the Nobel prize for literature. The vibrations of creation were already announcing his name to those who are attuned to nature.

Congratulations on your achievement, Mr Laszlo. A 71 year old man saying the announcement of his win is the "first day of his life" should tell us all we need to know about how most creative writers view the Nobel Prize for Literature.

The Nobel prize is not giving posthumously. Achebe’s works were considered severally when he was alive and never considered good enough for the award. He’s a very good storyteller but his works lack originality as they are mostly a translation of existing Ibo proverbs, tales and folklore.

Please and please, Nobel prize for literature is not a little award. It is the highest honour a writer can get on earth. Calling it a little award is an insult to creative writers worldwide. Is like telling footballers that winning Ballon d'or is a little achievement.
