Racoon:There is nothing wrong with Nigeria's electoral process...hasn't been since 2003 self. The problem is, Nigerians vote according to who will give them more share from the national cake, not good governance, or manifesto. They also don't like change. SO, anyone who loses the election is going to blame INEC , even when the evidence is scanty. Nigeria is the kind of country where people grumble about the ruling party...then come election day, na the ruling party dem go vote for. If you tell Nigerians to vote for AA or AAC or Kowa party, they will tell you wasted vote.  . And then a year later wonder why nothing is getting better! 18 Likes |

stuffs2002:Nigeria is a failed state, like most African states, because at independence, we decided to attach our economies to whatever resource we were selling, instead of doing like South Korea (whose GDP per capita in 1960 was less than that of Senegal) and China (whose GPD per capita was less than that of Sierra Leone in 1973)...did...develop an economy based on making products that met global needs. Following the way we followed meant that we were bound to end up in debt because prices of cocoa, cotton, oil and so on are set in a way that never favours us. If we try to set it in a way that does, international buyers will go elsewhere (Ask Ghana that unilateraly raised the price of its cocoa by 40%...what happened next). SO, we run out of money, take loans and have scanty budgets. And then corruption takes away most of the little we have. That is why we are a mess, and why China and South Korea are lending money to us and building our infrastructure. We want a economy based on sharing money for importing foreign consumer goods. 19 Likes |
