Education isn’t free here especially university education. I have mentioned on this thread many times that studying in Chile is expensive as for that list I will take it with a pinch of salt. It says Chileans lack access to basic services. Like I don enter village for Chile. Village here and a village has access to everything like everything. I have travelled and the only countries I will rank above Chile are the USA and Switzerland. What I have achieved in Chile under 3 years as a student I will need 10 to 20 years in Europe as a permanent resident and more than one million years in any African country.

True but like I mentioned I only used this masters as a means to escape Nigeria. I didn’t do masters with the mindset of I want to learn this or that or that. Getting a published paper out of it was surprising. It’s also weird that my new job lets me use things I learnt from my masters like python and aws. Life is funny and no knowledge regardless of how small is a waste.
Naa true you talk senior man. Naa like bonus on top of your portfolio.

How would you want to have PhD and not publish papers?

Isn't that laziness? Don't they know how important higher education is to the world?
Three papers. Mine was one. Other departments had two as the minimum. Also, according to them, the journals were listed, so other journals aren't considered. I was told how some foreign students spend four years rather than the standard three years to complete their PhDs. After three years, the scholarships end, so funding falls on the student.

In summary, PhD no be small thing.

You are a highly skilled person and you will be well paid in any country. In the west you will certainly be using a brand new car while in Nigeria you will at least own your own home fully in an average city. All are achievements
The western world is better for the average worker because they pay tax and have free education and universal healthcare as a result. If you are an above average income earner it can vary. There are thousands of foreigners working in Nigeria too.

Yes, you're right, sir. If we takeoff the highly skill-set, I don't think any average worker would be enjoying and loving Chile like he's doing right now.

I respect your moniker, sir, almost two decades, respect👍🙌✊

Having a Nigerian passport is the greatest curse ever. My gf and I are planning to travel to Brazil this December. My gf doesn’t need a visa I do so I applied early. I reached the Brazilian consulate today and immediately I turned in my passport. The guy looked at it suspiciously then went back inside and came out and said that Nigerians are in a special category and that their government has sent notifications to all Brazilian consulates worldwide that for Nigerian nationals the visa has to come from Brazil itself and not from a consulate. They told me they will have to hold on to my passport for another 2 weeks before they decide if they give me the visa or not.

Life is not all about money if you have the opportunity, please try and give your children another nationality. Venezuela has no diplomatic relationships with the USA but Venezuelan citizens get 10 years multiple entry visa. Nigerians get 3 months. There’s no even USA embassy in Venezuela at the moment but they even have more rights than us. I am using Venezuelan as an example because it’s the worst country in South America but Venezuelan citizens can travel to 120 countries visa free.

Mobility wise, i will pay for a Venezuela passport if its available . Nigerians are generally loud and this is a very big problem but we should also ve mindful on how we represent the country outside .

Venezuelans don't need Brazil visa because they are both Latinos and in the same continent.
It is just the way a Nigerian will go to Ghana without visa but a British/US/German passport holder staying in Nigeria going with him to Ghana will have to apply for visa.
About scrutinizing Nigerians before issuing visas- that is due to huge cocaine traffickers stressing the Brazilian goverment. It is a cocaine trafficking busy route and Nigerians are much in this business

I just highlighted the fact that a Nigerian can go to Ghana and many west African countries, visa on arrival for many east African and central African countries which an European or American can't.
Europe is a totally different scenario

Have you travelled out of Nigeria before? Who told you that you don't need a visa to Ghana or any other west africa countries? Unless you're not using borders.

Lets see if you will put your child in a public school when you have one . The highest rate of your taxes is 40% depending on your income code and they tax on your worldwide income if you are a resident. There might be some deductibles that helps you bring it low which is available in europ as well. As good as it is it's not what you are making it to be online. I'm presently in Santiago and i will be leaving for Panama in 2 days incase you want to meet.
It's seems like you're a traveler or tourist. How's panama ?

Funny how nobody's talking about panama as a japa destination when it could be cost effective for studies and business.

Some of their universities are tuition free even for foreign students.
Re: Memoirs From Chile by dreaonit: 2:52pm On Oct 13, 2025
Panama is tuition free for international students but I don't know the admission procedure for non-spanish speakers. I think student visa can lead to PR in Chile as well. I'm not so sure of these, just what I read online.

Yes by one million times. Let’s even remove my remote job. I have worked here in chile with a local Chilean company and what I was earning after tax I can’t earn that in Europe. My first job here in Chile was for a Spanish company and I rejected it to stay here in Chile. In my own opinion, the only countries better than Chile are Switzerland and the USA. What I achieved here in Chile it will takes me 10 years or more in any European country to achieve what I have achieved in Chile in two years with the same knowledge and skills.
What site are you using to find remote jobs?
