FCT Police Arrest Four Over One-Chance Robbery, Attempted Kidnapping — Rescue Two Victims

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested four suspects linked to a one-chance robbery syndicate and an attempted kidnapping operation, successfully rescuing two victims in Abuja.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the gang had previously robbed at least six unsuspecting passengers across the city before being tracked down and apprehended.

Police Action After Distress Call

The incident began at about 10:09 p.m. on October 8, 2025, when one Hajara Ali reported to the Life Camp Police Station that her sister, Comfort Habila, had been abducted by suspected one-chance robbers demanding ₦1 million ransom for her release.

“Upon receipt of the report, operatives from Life Camp Division immediately swung into action,” Adeh said. “Through the deployment of digital and tactical intelligence, the suspects were tracked and arrested on October 9, 2025, at about 4:30 a.m. at Dape Village after a near-deadly confrontation with the police.”

Two victims — Comfort Habila (female) and Aliyu Adams (male) — were rescued during the operation. Adams, who sustained multiple stab wounds inflicted by the suspects, was taken to Gwarinpa General Hospital for urgent treatment.

Suspects Identified and Evidence Recovered

The arrested suspects have been identified as Solomon Tanko, Samuel Audu, Chigozie Joseph, and Emmanuel Chidiebere. Preliminary investigations revealed that the group had been operating across the Bannex and Kado districts, using a tinted vehicle to deceive and rob passengers.

Recovered from the suspects were 15 international passports, two daggers, two cutlasses, bloodstained documents, four mobile phones, two hammers, and three biros — all believed to be tools and evidence of their criminal activity.

Police Commend Swift Response

The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, praised the swift and coordinated efforts of the Life Camp Divisional Police Officers for their professionalism and tactical precision in the rescue operation. He urged residents to remain alert and support the police with credible information to help combat crime in the capital.

“Residents are encouraged to promptly report any suspicious movements or criminal activities through the Command’s emergency lines: 08032003913, 08028940883, or CRU FCT: 08107314192,” the statement added.

The suspects are currently in custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
