Is she mentally ok? Some of us refused to go on maternity leave till few days to the D-Day. If you are healthy, pregnancy should never be an excuse for being lazy or to steal. She could have begged for alms than resort to stealing. My people would ask you if you are pregnant on your hands? Others would ask if you are the first to be pregnant? A heavily pregnant widow accused of shoplifting has been banished from Ugbema community in Buruku Local Government Area of Benue StateNow I see why they're being wiped out by the herders regularly. Out of all the troubles they have they feel banishment is best for her? Babalegba:She should have asked for assistance instead of shamefully stealing from another person who MUST have gotten loans to stock up his or her shop! It's ALSO CLEARLY unkind to assume that because a woman is pregnant, then they have a right to do whatever they like and that's what a lot of random posters on this thread are doing... Justifying stealing. It's even possible that she might have commited some crimes in the past hence the current actions taken against her. That's the way I view things as someone with a deep knowledge of criminal investigations. Period. If you have really seen life you will know that when shiii goes down, I mean really down, you're on your own. No family, no friends nobody else to help but you and yourself alone. All those you once helped will mock you, call you names and might even do it in your face. But the bounce back is always sweeter. This isn't calling a spade a rake or wtv this is real life and it's fvkn cold out here. It's easy to sit behind your keypad and assume life is that simple but wait till you get hit. And you're faced with a million options and none working no matter how much you try. In situations like this. Consider her condition, mentally, emotionally, physically. What does she have to offer in her present state? In her condition she's not even supposed to be doing any physical hard or difficult work. How do you expect her to get employed. Even those with gainful employment are given maternity leave and allowances when they get to certain stages in the pregnancy. It's just sad but she shouldn't have been banished. |

Inasmuch as I detest stealing, I wouldn't t have banish a striving widow... This act alone is enough to lead her into taking her life and living the child behind to suffer for the rest of his life... I have felt that this is what should be done to Nigerian Judges and justices who subvert justice at election tribunals. But there should be a way for them to be reconciled back to their people *(if they do what they are able to within their power to correct the wrong they have done. Of course they may not be able to correct it all as their power may be limited after the wrong they have done, but they should be encouraged to do what they can, for eg: Whistleblow on possible bribe-givers. Administrative action to undo their wrong. Publicized sworn affidavit about what they know was wrong about the process they got invloved in. Public apology I believe in forgiveness too. |
