Loquacious Umeahi.., very arrogant.., highly opionated.
Because he is some sort of armchair engineer, he thinks he can bully everyone who dares to ask basic questions about his ministry.

The man is a case. This was the same guy who as the Chairman of South East Governors forum, continued to wail about the marginalisation of his Ebonyi state! I mean, you are the chairman of the governors forum, the longest in that position, you set the agenda, you chair the meetings, you read out the communiques. The south-east does not have a regional budget.

The whole allocations to the states are done straight from Abuja by the APC government, into each states private accounts. No state shares resources with you or directs you on your states policies. Essentially , you are the Oga Kpatakpata of your state. But because you want to inject divisions so you can ingratiate yourself to the folks in Abuja, you had to cry wolf and make your colleagues look bad...

Very anyhow character that talks before he thinks...

Rufai recently reset his brain to factory settings. Next time he hears the name “rufai” he will run as far as Ben Johnson.

Mr Minister, always I repeat always resist the urge to shalaye... Take note of the key word "Always".. am not holding brief for anyone, though sometimes I think Rufai can be carried away and lost in the moment but In this instance he Just asked you a very Minute Question of "How much is the Estimated cost of a KM" it was a short question that needed a very short answer. Not Explanations. Questions go with Answers.

But he's a performer. I like his style and decisiveness. He revoked RCC and Julius Berger contracts for poor performance. I like him.
A very good Presidential material

One thing can sure, Tinubu wants to use this project to win votes.

If he can achieve this project in 4 years, people will believe he can do anything.

It is projects like these that Tinubu wants to sway the masses to vpote for him.

In a country which lacks good roads how can you spend such amount of money in a single project like this?

Why won't you like him?
You lot always tilt towards mediocre as your presidents; Buhari, Tinubu?
The bar has been lowered into the pit latrine.
At this rate, Ibori has a better chance of being a president of this country than Sowore..
Raise the standards, ahbegi..
Re: Umahi Reveals Why The Super Highway Is Expensive (Video) by elmodee7(m):
Given:

₦7.5 billion per kilometer

1 km = 1,000 meters

1 meter = 39.3701 inches

So:
1 km = 1,000 × 39.3701 = 39,370.1 inches

---

Now divide ₦7.5 billion by 39,370.1

₦7,500,000,000 ÷ 39,370.1 ≈ ₦190,568.5 per inch

N190.5 k per inch.
₦75k per centimeter
₦7,500k per millimeter
Re: Umahi Reveals Why The Super Highway Is Expensive (Video) by AMINDA: 5:11pm On Oct 13, 2025
7.5 billion per kilometer?! Umahi is not doing anyone a favour by explaining to the last detail, what the coastal road will cost Nigerians. Tinubu is already borrowing to finance the road after initially saying the project would be funded through PPP. Where is the promised finance by Chagoury that made Tinubu award a single project costing half of the entire country's budget to him without proper procurement?

Accountability is key to the fight against corruption. Those of you in support of Umahi's arrogance should hide your face in shame.

Dave is fighting an invisible opponent, which is himself. He didn't know the answer to Rufai's question, but rather than admit and get it after the interview, he did what every politician without integrity will do, attack the interviewer.
Re: Umahi Reveals Why The Super Highway Is Expensive (Video) by muykem: 5:16pm On Oct 13, 2025
Dave Umahi should learn native wisdom from president Bola Tinubu. You can only wake someone that's sleeping but you can not wake someone pretending to be sleeping. You don't need to accept interview with people that are known as enemy of the government. They almost kill themselves when Tinubu refused to grant them audience in build up to 2023 election.

This is true . I did the maths .

Here is the breakdown. 👉👉👉

How Hitech Plans to Recoup $18 Billion from Nigeria's Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway Tolls

Nigeria’s ambitious 800km Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, linking five Niger Delta states, is a flagship project under President Tinubu, awarded to Hitech Construction Nigeria Ltd. for $15 billion. Hitech funds 70% ($10.5 billion), with the government covering 30%. Set for completion by 2031, the highway will feature six toll gates to recover Hitech’s investment plus a $3 billion profit—totaling $18 billion—over 15 years. Here’s how the tolls aim to deliver, with calculations based on an exchange rate of ₦1,666 per dollar.

### Financing and Toll Strategy

Hitech’s $18 billion target equates to ₦29.988 trillion, or ₦1.999 trillion annually (₦5.477 billion daily). Six toll gates, using modern multi-lane free-flow systems, will charge an estimated ₦3,000 per vehicle passage. This requires 1.826 million daily passages across all gates—about 304,000 per gate, split across both directions.

For a full-length trip (Lagos to Calabar), drivers pay ₦18,000 (₦3,000 × 6 gates). A round trip doubles to ₦36,000. To meet the revenue goal:
- *Daily vehicles (one-way)*: ~304,000, assuming each car crosses all six gates.
- *Round-trip scenario*: ~152,000 vehicles, paying double.
- *Per gate daily return*: ₦913 million (304,000 passages × ₦3,000), covering both directions.

### Is It Feasible?

The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway sees 100,000-150,000 daily vehicles. The coastal highway, serving ports and oil hubs, could surpass this with high freight and commuter traffic. However, economic pressures or toll evasion could challenge projections.

### Hurdles Ahead

Critics highlight environmental risks, transparency issues, and high per-kilometer costs ($15-18 million). Tolling, starting as early as December 2025 for completed sections, sparks debate over taxing a partly public-funded road. Yet, supporters argue tolls ensure maintenance, avoiding Nigeria’s pothole-ridden past.

By 2046, Hitech aims to turn this highway into a self-sustaining economic lifeline. Success hinges on traffic volumes and disciplined collections—time will tell if the numbers align.
