Under Section 60(5) of the proposed amendment, the law would make it mandatory for presiding officers to transmit results both electronically and manually. Failure to comply would attract a penalty of one-year imprisonment, a ₦1 million fine, or both.So after 2 years of their so called brainstorming, this was all they could come up with? Why insert manual transmission knowing fully well that it has become outdated and doesn't guarantee credible elections? Until the national assembly removes the power and authority of the president to select and appoint INEC officials including the national chairman, there can never be free, fair and credible elections in Nigeria! |

SisterAnn:I didn't mention anybody's name ooh 😂😂 But I remember a certain governor who changed his reelection campaign strategy to include going to naming ceremonies, wedding parties, etc because the presidential candidate running on his party's platform had been defeated in that state, which coincidentally happened to be his home state. |

You prefer that elections disputes outcomes should remain in the hands of incumbents who have been sworn in? You guys always complain about everything! Is the February election not fresh into the new year when the same politicians would have stacked money up for the new year SlavaUkraini: |

If we genuinely desire sustainable development, we face a stark choice: either a military takeover or a single party maintaining dominance for an extended period. It is important to clarify that I am not advocating for a one-party state. Rather, there is a necessity for policy consistency. Lagos State's success stems not only from the wisdom of its leaders, but also from the consistency of its policies. In democratic systems where state institutions are weak, policy inconsistencies often arise. History has shown us that Nigerians may not always prioritise institutional integrity but may instead respond to emotional appeals. Therefore, the most viable alternative is a consistent policy framework enabled by the long-term rule of a single party. A prime example of this is the China that we often admire. I would wager that the military regimes in the three Sahel countries that have separated from ECOWAS would thrive if they were to remain in power for a prolonged period. In the context of Africa, the form of democracy currently being practised in the West is at odds with our deeply rooted cultural practices. |

franchasng:Lolz. You deveropers are beyond silly in your fantasies. This reminds me of what one of you put on X after the election about Tulumbu and that chief judge going to beg obi in private on their knees. I remember how you lot were jubilating in that thread over something a 3 month old Down Syndrome patient would detect was a lie immediately without much thought. That was when I knew sane Nigerians were in for great entertainment from you guys. Lolz. |

At the public hearing, several stakeholders — including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) represented by Prof. Abdullahi Zuru — backed the push for electronic voting and electronic transmission of results to enhance transparency.if I didn't witness it, I would have believed they meant good |
