Very correct observation. Leave them. Some people are just too jaded, too dull or too naive to understand.

Qatar is just throwing them red meat of empty promises as a reward for Tinubu's govt openly supporting Palestinian course.

Commentor:
Who would invest a tenth of its GDP in one country every year?

The same Qatar is claiming they would invest 1.2 trillions dollars in US.

Do you need everything to be spelled put to you?

What is Qatari's GDP as a whole ?

Qatari's GDP is 200 billion

Qatari sovereign wealth fund, since inception of Qatar is 400 billion. (Thats the total money they have invested home and abroad, since the beginning of their existence)

So where and how exactly will they have 300 billion to commit to Nigeria ?

You think they built a sovereign wealth fund of 400 billion by being financially foolish ?
Re: Qatar Pledges To Invest $300 Billion In Nigeria by cuteboy2: 10:38am On Oct 14, 2025
How many times will Qatar 🇶🇦 keep giving us these audio investments? The last controversial one Nigerian govt officials claimed was announced during the climate summit what has come out it?

Qatar is the financial and political backbone of Hamas and Palestinians. They will keep making these empty announcements to keep little minions like Nigeria to keep forgetting their internal issues, and instead keep voicing support for Palestinian cause like VP Shettima did at UN General Assembly.

Let it not be an indirect sponsoring of Fulani herdsmen terrorists, Boko Haram and other Moslem terrorist groups like they sponsored Hamas terrorists in Palestine.

Qatari sovereign wealth fund has only invested 400 billion(both home and abroad) since the day Qatar was created !!! In its 53years existence.

Dont let them fool you. Thats not how money or investment works.

Tinubu is lying to Nigerians. They are just throwing out numbers....same way they do with GDP and IGR and other metrics.

In the video I watched, it's $300m not $300bn. It's posters like this that make me conclude that many Nigerians are numerically illiterate. You just think the there's no difference between both numbers. They are not synonyms.

$300 million is more reasonable.
$300 billion is definitely a lie. Because Qatar is 53 years old as a country and their sovereign wealth fund (investments both home and abroad in 53 years) is only 400 billion dollars.

So where are they gonna get 300 billions for just Nigeria in a decade.....LMAO

I agree with the quote attributed to the Qataris. My fear is with the next administration, especially as power would go to the north. The person has to be pro-business.

Dokitto001:

No, they cannot. $300BN is more than 50% of Singapore's GDP. No country can afford to invest in such an amount in a country that's not in the top 5 economies.

In the video, $300m was quoted, not $300BN.

It is $300 billion USD to be invested over ten years. How is that unfeasible?

Even if it is an optimistic estimate, anything North of $150 billion USD invested in Nigeria over 10 years is commendable.

I therefore don't see the rationale behind rushing to try and discredit this announcement especially given the calibre of those who made the pledge.
Let's say Nigeria wants to invest $280b in Ghana over the next 10years.

Will u believe it or not?

A pledge is not a debt

They don't have such funds.
A pledge is a statement of intent. Of course I know a pledge does not make them indebted to Nigeria.

Nonetheless, and accounting for overstatements when nations pledge to invest in others, it is encouraging and exciting for our future they see Nigeria as a worthy destination of such huge investments.

As I said earlier, even taking into account over-optimistic claims natural to these trade talks, half or even a third of that amount over 10 years would be great for Nigeria.

Per lack of funds, some are naturally future projections. Crucial to bear in mind also their wealthy industrialist and business giants, like our Dangote and Adenuga etal join our Presidential trade missions, Will form part of these trade delegations and often signify interest in investing during talks. This also influence pledges as well.

With investment, particularly with private sector investment, there is also an aspect covering securing external capital if feasibility report establish that very good ROI is possible.

Ultimately the situation is related to Qatar pooling together Government wealth, in their SWF for example, and Qatari private investors wealth.

GDP is not what determines how much a country like Qatar has to spend, as GDP merely reflects economic activity in their tiny population of 2.8 million, not the actual cash available to the govt to spend.

Their sovereign wealth fund alone has almost $600 billion and rising..

So they can invest 20 to 30 billion dollars annually in Nigeria, for a decade, easily.

This is a country that larger oil reserves than Nigeria, and exports more oil than Nigeria, and has only 2.8 million people.

What else will do with their money but go around looking for where to invest it?

And where better than NIGERIA to invest such money?
You mean Qatar will liquidate their assets to invest in Nigeria?!. grin grin
Dey play, selling off their shares in London, Porsche, Volkswagen, Porsche, Barclays, Credit Suisse, and tech firms like Swiggy and Trendyol because they want to invest in Nigeria is a very foolish decision to make.

A country that has a SWF of 600 Billion, is telling you it would invest a trillion dollars in US and 300 billion in Nigeria, and you believe.

C'mon now.
But some of you believed when they said they would invest $1Trillion in the US.
It is now they promised to invest in Nigeria, it suddenly occur to you that neither 1Trillion nor 300Billion is feasible. That's is the type of hypocrisy and inconsistency that arise when you allow hate to becloud your sense of judgement.
