The only defection that matters will be that of the electorates that voted for them under the banner of another political party. Unless they can say with all certainty that they are defecting with the express approval and support of the electorates that voted them in, then it's nothing worth celebrating. Would they be defecting if the government has not used state powers to destroy their erstwhile political parties? That's the ultimate question. I don't see jubilation on the streets as a result of these defections. Do you? I only see despair and resignation but the people will smile soon.
