Ugboeke Onitsha residents swim, paddle canoe to access their homes, seek Soludo’s intervention By OGEMDI OZOEMENAM, Awka Residents of Ugboeke layout near Akpaka forest GRA, Onitsha urban have cried out to Governor Soludo over their uncompleted road project which has cut off people of the area from the rest of the city. Ugboeke is a sprawling residential area located in between Akpaka GRA, Onitsha North LGA and Nsugbe. Two years ago, the Soludo administration awarded the Akpaka Nsugbe road contract with a section that connects Housing Estate / Mopol Base to 3-3 road. With the Akpaka road and Housing Estate Mopol Base section completed, the bridge that connects Ugboeke Layout and Akpaka forest has remained a big challenge as the small iron bridge previously serving them has been submerged by flood from the Omambala/ Nkisi River, cutting off the residents. Speaking on the development, Acting Chairman, Ugboeke Residents Landlords Association, Prince Chinedu Okonkwo said life for the people of the layout has been a daily nightmare as residents swim, paddle canoe to cross over and connect to the other side of the word as they go in and out for their daily engagements. Okonkwo noted that most children resident in the layout attend schools in Onitsha urban as they move out with their parents for the day’s business and there are increasing fears of boat mishap and drowning in the river on daily basis. He noted that the residents are fully supporting the Soludo administration and called on the governor to expedite action in the construction work and also provide a standard bridge for the residents to have easy access in the area. He said provision of the bridge and completing the road project will make it easy for farmers in the riverine communities of Anam to evacuate their farm produce easily into Onitsha by road and also decongest traffic from 3-3 Junction. Treasurer of the Ugboeke Landlords Association, Chikereuba Idoko lamented the psychological effect and trauma which children of the area pass through daily as they commute to school. He pleaded for government urgent attention on the situation through the provision of a bridge in the area to ease the sufferings of the people. Anambra State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Ifeanyi Okonma when contacted on the development, said government is aware of the plight of the people in the area and is working to remedy the situation subject to availability of funds.

Peter folded his trousers to visited riverine communities flooded and ravaged to empathize with them, yet agbadorian supporters said he is failure. Now let's hear what they have to say that distraughted citizens are paddling canoes to access their homes under Prof Charles Soludo |

Racoon:He is a failure, it's not eye services that will solve problems but what you do that matters. What stops him from initiating water transport system using flying boats and other water transport system to convey people and eliminate accident that frequently associated with local canoe thereby creating employment for the people. Maybe you want to tell me that that's too expensive for poor state like Anambra to do? You see the way many of you defend Peter Obi despite his glaring inadequacies is worrisome |

columbus007:See Americana forming woke, the fish and food you eat comes from those areas, what should concern you should be government and creation of modern transport system |

Mbanda:Lagos is on the ocean, if it's getting flooded, should a landlocked region be flooded too? |
| Re: Onitsha Residents Swim, Paddle Canoe To Access Homes, Seek Soludo's Intervention by Mbanda(m): 9:02am On Oct 14, 2025 |
alanto:Onisha and it's environs are close to the famous river niger too. Besides if onisha flood problems was caused by Obi's bad governance (according to you agbadorians) what do we now say is the cause of that of Lagos. |

Mbanda:Listen lil bro. No matter what you do in life, don't compare Tinubu and Obi onto any criteria. Tinubu pushed the ocean back to achieve Eko Atlantic City. Do you know what's bar beach? You shouldn't be meddling in things above your age. No be everything be cho, cho. If Anambra ever at any point in time have a visionary leader like Asiwaju, the Anambra would be better right now. No be water fountain residence go the troop to go watch or you don't think? Is Anambra directly connected to RIVER Niger way Lagos Island is sitting on the OCEAN? |

alanto:The truth concerning the bolded remains that, Obi is no match to tinibu In terms of stealing public funds, rigging elections, masterminding all sorts of criminal acts and carrying of public funds in bullion vans. But in terms of transparency, goodwill, putting public funds into good use and integrity tinibu is no match to Obi. Always bear this fact at the back of your mind. If indeed you are an ardult as you claim you should know that tinibu is a fraud. If Anambra has money like lagos, Obi would have done wonders more than what timibu did in Lagos. |
| Re: Onitsha Residents Swim, Paddle Canoe To Access Homes, Seek Soludo's Intervention by alanto: 12:47pm On Oct 14, 2025 |
Mbanda:Even tho Obi is a fraud and you know it. He's neither transparent nor does he have integrity. He has jumped party than any of his peers. Obi as a man does not have any man around his age that's loyal to him. Every time you hear one Obidients or the other regardless their language or tribe they are mostly always under 40-45. Compare that with someone all former and present governors are rushing. Soludo the present governor of Obi's state will chose Tinubu over Obi any day, anytime. And same goes for the governor of the states of Atiku, Amaechi, Aregbesola and who have you. |

alanto:If you say that, Obi is a fraud I wonder the kind of adjective we the sane minds will use in describing tinibu because, he is worse than anything you can qualify Obi with. Secondly, what you ronus see as loyalty in politics is what we the sane minds see as polical slavery because, you don't have a say in the scheme of things except the ones your oga want you to say. Example of what am saying, can be seen in the way tinibu pocketed sad waste governors especially those in Lagos state. Obi as a man of integrity don't play that kind of politics because it's not in his nature to be playing that kind of politics. Soludo will choose tinibu over Obi because, tinibu is in power not Obi. Tinibu grabbed power in 2023 and soludo needs tinibu's assistance to rig himself in as a two term Anambra governor this is the fact and nothing more. Lastly, Nigerians don't like tinibu this is the fact and that is the reason he lost during the 2023 election. History will remember Mamood of eyeneck as a fraud. |

Mbanda:You no dey hear, no de put Tinubu and Obi in one sentence. It's disrespectful. Remember during the 2023 election campaign, Asiwaju while talking about Obi in SE said he can't even mention Obi's name because of the distance between them. They not in the same league at all. And in any ramifications. |

alanto:I should be the one telling you that. Obi is a man of integrity while tinibu is not infact, in a sane country like China tinibu should be in the dungeons paying for his sins against humanity. The man you are praising as a hero is a druggie and he has a big criminal instinct it's shameful to see that men like tinibu is the ones you lots celebrate in Nigeria. No wonder the country is in a sorry state. |
