Super Falcons legend, Asisat Oshoala, has once again made history after being appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador for the Confederation of African Football (CAF) — a prestigious recognition of her impact both on and off the pitch. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

The announcement was made in Rabat, Morocco, ahead of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). CAF described Oshoala as “a beacon of hope for millions of African girls”, celebrating her remarkable journey from the streets of Lagos to global football fame.
Champion for Women and Youth Empowerment

Beyond her extraordinary success on the field, Oshoala has been a consistent advocate for women and youth development in Africa.

Through her Asisat Oshoala Foundation, she has empowered hundreds of young girls by providing access to education, mentorship, and football training — using sports as a tool for transformation.

Accepting the CAF honour, the 30-year-old football star described her new role as “a call to action”, pledging to use her influence to push for greater investment and opportunity for women in sports.

“This is not just an honour; it’s a responsibility. I will keep working to make sure young girls across Africa believe they can achieve anything,” Oshoala said.

Her appointment aligns with CAF’s Women’s Football Development Programme, which aims to increase female participation in football by 30% before 2030.

CAF President, Patrice Motsepe, commended Oshoala for her leadership and commitment to advancing women’s football across the continent.
