BIPC BEGINS TESTING OF JUICE PRODUCTION ON BENFRUITS INDUSTRY

The Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC) has commenced testing of juice production at the Benfruits Industry revitalized by the Executive Governor of Benue State, His Excellency Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia.

The milestone was marked on Wednesday during a successful test-run of the factory located at the Industrial Layout, Makurdi, where the first batch of juice was produced.

Speaking after tasting the first production, the Group Managing Director of BIPC, Dr. Raymond Asemakaha, CFA, expressed delight and commended Governor Alia for breathing life back into the company after years of abandonment.

“Today is the happiest day of my life. This company was abandoned for many years, but we have revitalized it,” Dr. Asemakaha said.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that Benue farmers gain full value for their produce, noting that once full-scale operations begin, no orange will leave the state unprocessed.

“We want our farmers to have value for their oranges and for every farm produce in the state. This plant will address post-harvest losses, create jobs, increase farmers’ income, raise revenue, and boost the state’s GDP."

Dr. Asemakaha further revealed that the factory would also produce essential oil for pharmaceutical use and organic fertilizer from the orange chaff, ensuring that no part of the fruit goes to waste.

He appreciated the company’s partners SONO Group, Lead Technician Engr. Henry Boager, management, and staff of BIPC for their relentless efforts to make the production dream a reality.

Engr. Boager, the Lead Technician, disclosed that the factory has the capacity to produce four tons of juice per hour, emphasizing that the project would put an end to post-harvest losses and guarantee farmers better returns.

A local farmer, Mr. Wilfred Gbatsoron, expressed gratitude to Governor Alia and the BIPC management for providing a ready market for their produce.

“Before now, our oranges used to waste, but now we have a market. We will expand our farms to increase production,” he said.

The revitalization of Benfruits is one of several industrial revival projects initiated by the Alia administration to promote agro-industrial development and enhance the state’s economy.

Concerning a project i am about to start in the state, but some persons close to him are trying to part away with my money just so i could get access to him....... Benue state is a beautiful place and it's like my second home.

It may be driven by envy
Some people are naturally bitter

But let us be realistic

Is this built on the right foundation
The ideal set up is to get companies with a track record to invest
I want towish them well but I am not impressed with the set up
It looks dirty and amateurish on day 1 that worries me personally
I would not drink orange juice from thereLook at the oranges they are not standard in their ripeness
There needs to be an entire value chain management
The fact that something needs to be done does not mean government should or can do it

They have plenty of oranges in Benue but are they ideal for juice
Should they be planting the proven varieties that work for juice

I want this to succeed but they need a commercial management team ASAP
I would advise them to sell it
The problem is they need a lot more money to build a better industrial set up

Alex Otti as not done a single thing like this to increase IGR in Abia. Yet deluded souls claim he is the best governor.

This is the Alex Otti millennial computer school looks like shrine in 2025.

A man that commission 300 metre road with several before n after. If you disagree should be any 20 KM road Alex rotting completed since he became governor.

Make I no even mention the fountain of shrine Abians were celebrating days back in 2025. Samw Abians will open their mouth an insult Sanwolu who built first electric train in the country.

So what's Otti's business in this news now
Or are you pained that abians said he is doing well.
Any leader that the masses he is leading said is doing well is really doing well. Period.

Why not wait till when it folds up? If things are not going well in your life don't generalize and assume same with every other thing. 🤡🤡🤡

Do you know the percentage of projects like this that is no where to be found today. Funny enough it's people like you that will keep worshipping these guys when they do things like this, but months later when the place goes down, same people like you will call those complaining haters

I can't believe politician worshippers like you still exist in this present time. God forbid

The state owns an investment company called BIPC that owns the juice factory along with other businesses like bottle water production, nails & building rods, commercial plazas, chicken/animal feed production, bakery as well as a brewery.
These businesses are run and managed by BIPC.
Now tell me exactly what is wrong with this model because even in the so called developed societies this applies.
Would you prefer he did nothing like Ortom under the PDP did for 8 years while he left a debt burden of over 350 billion naira?

Don’t believe western propaganda. There are some industries that can only be established by government. Once up and running you can then sell a partial stake or fully divest. If you are waiting for private capital in an environment of 30% interest. rates your people will be unemployed.

Just so you know even Trump from the land of capitalism has been taking stakes in strategic private companies like Intel. They bought stakes in GM during the financial crisis to preserve jobs. The UK govt bought stakes including controlling stakes in many banks to save them and the jobs.

We just follow western propaganda like Mimi and all our industries and jobs collapse.

Government cannot run companies but sometimes govt needs to establish the companies. British rail, British airways, British telecom, O2 mobile British Rail etc etc were all set up with taxpayers money.

You sound emotional
Because you want them to succeed does not mean you ignore reality and become a fanatic
There are obvious questions a good business man will ask

How is that company. Performing? Are its records in public domain

Take a close look at photograph 3 zoom in that would tell everything

My view is that either the government does not have money to fund that project properly or a lot of the money was stolen

That place is dirty. If I was NAFDAC I would not approve it

Now rather than be a hater I would like to think of a way forward or alternative

Why didn't the government look for proven partners already in the industry
Approach the bank of industry or similar for technical support

They should look at an arrangement where the farmers perhaps as a cooperative can run it

The story we hear is that
A lot of oranges are wasted and left to rot because they can't get to market
I have seen videos on you tube with foreigners saying the same thing

I would have advised the government to invest in roads and cold rooms
This orange juice thing requires expertise. It is not as easy as it looks to make profit
The other thing is the variety of orange recognised as best for juice is called NAVEL which is not grown in West Africa maybe they need to design the strategy to consider that

Also orange juice needs a refrigeration network otherwise you use chemical preservatives
There is something called CONCENTRATE which is made close to the farm and then mixed with water close to market
So making concentrate instead might be advisable
Personally I would have advised them to focus on industrial yam processing to make yam flour e.g elubo for amala
I believe that is less technical than orange juice

Orange juice is good but needs more expertise
