First off, let me say this: I’d rather we not even qualify than go there only to get kicked out after two games. Because honestly, there’s no way we’re surviving more than two matches with the kind of struggle football we’ve been playing lately. Our passes are dysfunctional, Ajayi can’t even make a proper high ball pass to Osimhen or Adams. The attack? Weak. They couldn't hold a proper run for more than 10 seconds before losing the ball. Fredrick almost conceded a goal for us, Simeon literally disappeared on the pitch all through the first half. Please, don’t let that 4–0 scoreline deceive you. If not for Osimhen’s brilliance, Chukwueze and Adam's step ups, that match would have ended in premium tears and disgrace for us. I was irritated from start to finish. Without Osimhen Super Eagles are honestly Super fowls every pun intended. We might have “cleared our shame” for now, but let’s be honest, this team isn’t ready for the World Cup. Not mentally, not tactically. That’s all I have to say. Good day Everyone.

JohnBabatunde14:If you have followed the Nigerian National team well enough you should know that we may struggle with minnows in Africa but we are no pushovers at the Global stage. This team might be struggling with less fancied African teams but they will be hard to beat at the World Cup. I am sure you must be one of those that doubted we could beat Benin by 4:0. WE ARE NIGERIA, WE RISE TO THE OCCASION. |

I don't think so, but hopefully if we can step up, then there is a chance. It's all in their hands now. Nwabali must cut out all his errors, our defenders need to block and snuff out all dangers, we need a fit + clinical Oshimen, creative wingers and finally a solid midfield. Gabon is beatable and then we try to get a spot in the intercontinental stage. |

JohnBabatunde14:May ill prepared teams not make it to the World Cup. The world wants to see top class football not wobbly games. It is not Wobbly Cup! |

You speak the truth. The eagles are an embarrassment to say the least. |

You want us to play like Prime Barca? Enjoy the win and hope for the best. The Eagles needed to win and score four goals- mission accomplished. |

Thanks for the honesty. I'm not sure we would even do well in the playoffs. Playoffs for world cup...are very difficult. I watched Australia v Bharain playoff for a place in 2014 world cup. Both sets of players played their hearts out, played like lions really...and then at the very last minute, Australia managed to squeeze in a goal. Baharaini players...at least two of them gave up after that. It's that intense. We got work to do |

Sometimes a very good ending doesn't necessarily start off well. Nigeria'a team will be featuring at the World Cup - it's a matter that's beyond natural causes. 🙌 |

Even if Nigeria qualifies, this world cup is gonna be a struggle as the we are not measuring to one-tenth of the standards expected of many of the world's football power houses. So let us stay away. |

🚨 BREAKING . If Nigeria 🇳🇬 WINS the playoffs at the expense of Gabon, Cameroon, and Congo, they will advance to the inter-confederation World Cup playoffs. Nigeria will have a seeded status there, meaning they will ONLY NEED to play the FINAL and NOT the semifinal. If they WIN that final, Nigeria will qualify for the 2026 World Cup. 🏆 HOPE DEY |

We can still be safe. All countries in the playoffs are have the same problem as Nigeria, especially that Cameroon, imagine losing first place to Cape Verde |

Surviving the playoffs is the ultimate grounds to prove our readiness to roll with the big boys. If we don’t make it to the World Cup then we aren’t worthy nor ready |

Please when we want to play Gabon next, line up only Osimhen from the post to the attack since we can't play without him. |

Na this one go pain Nigerians pass, imagine going out at this stage ( cause I no believe say dem go still make am) if you dey go person house and dem turn you back from junction, e no go pain reach say dem turn you back when you reach gate. Super eagles don reach gate, na to turn dem back remain. Should have been more serious by now they would have been chilling like South African |

We'll thrash Gabon. Our boys may be sloppy and flat-footed but that's symptomatic of the decline of all facets of Nigeria's life. No thanks to the dregs of the earth known as leaders and politicians. Watching their games sometimes, it makes me feel the size of the pitch is bigger than standard pitch. No drive, no hunger, no creativity, no passion. We need to perfect our traditional wing flow and compact play. Those Finidi's rubbery runs on the right and Amunike's fiery and impassioned assaults on the left with the playmaking dexterity of an Okocha/Oruma are the missing links. The team needs a psychologist to remind and rejig their spirit that Nigeria is always a footballing nation that has a rich pedigree in the world of soccer. A country that was once the 5th footballing nation in world in terms of FIFA ranking. |

You have to go thru Gabon, Cameroun and DR Congo before you even start talking about having a chance to compete for a place in the world cup finals |

John Babatunde, you are the most NEGATIVE human out there! To break down your myopic views: If not for Osimhen: Oga! Is Osimhen now part of the team? Is he from Togo? The previous two games, did Osimhen score? Moses Simon was quiet in the second half: how many people can hold the ball at the same time? Chukwueze was running things in that first half and when he was removed, Things moved to the other side and let me remind you of goal number 3 and 4; Simon was fully involved… Passes: the team changes formation to counter the 4:3:3 of the Benin team and the coach realised our players are not a passing team but a running team so we used the flanks- Nigeria normally has not played this formation since the days of Westerhoff but we have no creative midfielder at the moment but we have pretty decent wingers along with Osimhen who is really good with his head and Arokodare is the tallest in Africa at the moment and also good in the air. Our coach should be praised because he realised we must play to our strength and that’s exactly what we did! We as Nigerians ALWAYS find a way and watch this team make it to the World Cup! When you were in school, did you not see people who are given assignments and told to submit in 1 months time but they do the whole work on the morning of the submission and still score high grades? I don’t believe you are a Nigerian because if you were, you would understand that our preparations might be shaky but our final output is always surprising… Nigeria will shine 💪🏽 |
