My Peugeot 307 was having issues with fuel supply, which causes the engine to go off after 5 seconds. I was told that the Ecu/Brainbox had a fault and needed to be changed.

So I bought a new full unit: Ecu/Brainbox, and key. I bought it for 90k. I fixed everything myself but the car wouldn't even start. So I towed the car to an auto electrical shop.

Now the auto Electrician is telling me that I need to program the Ecu/Brainbox to 'free code' before it would work. Is this true?.

Also, I noticed that the new Ecu/Brainbox I bought is written 'made in Hungary', while the one I bought is written 'made in China'.

Does it matter? Is it normal to see a car Ecu/Brainbox that is written 'made in China'?

Please I need your answers.

Yes, if it is a brand new unit.

Remember that your vehicle is more than 10 years old and the Original Manufacturers (Bosch and Magneti Marelli) have moved on to other business ventures.

Edit: it is even a Bosch Product. You have nothing to worry about.

Yes.

Bosch 0261208913 or 9663337880 is for the 2006 Peugeot 307.

OK. These 2 doesn't have the same model number.

I'll talk to an auto Electrician to see if there's anyway to program it that will make it work.
