Hi I found your thread and i got interested when you said you are practicing in the UK.
I would like to ask you few questions about the Licensing process (OSPAP).
Also what are the chances of getting a good job after the OSPAP?
Re: Pharmacists Japa Thread by Blurpy(op): 11:41am On Sep 27, 2025
Yes
There are many good opportunities for pharmacists mainly in community and hospital respectively

Hello house, a pharmacist here, please I’ll appreciate it if we bring this thread back to life. It will really do a lot of good. I for one I’m interested in Japa but don’t even know where to start from. I believe if we run minds together,we will achieve something especially with the saying that it’s not easy for pharmacists to japa

Some Raw Information

If You are tight on funds: Canada PR is your best bet. This path is the cheapest way for pharmacists to japa, however this path is slow but it’s worth it as you’re getting a Permanent Resident status without paying any tuition whatsoever. If you can be studious and learn French in addition to your pebc evaluation. You’re have a 90% chance of getting an invite. Furthermore, this path might be tough depending on the city you arrive , Canada job search can be tougher than the UK , it’s easy to start working immediately you arrive compared to Canada. These are first hand information. You’ll need cash to survive the first few months of bills whilst searching for a job. Also, you can get to complete the licensing process by writing the evaluation, Mcq & Osce exams.

If you are liquid , UK is your best bet . Quick and fast , in two years you start working as a licensed pharmacist having passed the GPHC exam . Currently the higher paying sector is community pharmacy with entry roles as high as £55k per annum. NHS starts lower but still matches up with time and progression. The UK is still great for skilled professionals , the hack is to live in less populated area and save big on rent.

The OPRA Pathway , I really don’t have first hand information from Australia, but I don’t suppose there are many invites being given out at the moment and getting work visa from overseas comes with competition. I’d like if anyone can contribute to this pathway

Please, I'm currently trying to proceed with my Canadian PR journey. I've watched videos about this process and have decided that it'd be the path I want to follow..

My question now is..
1. What materials would you recommend for the Evaluation exam? I know that this can be written in Nigeria..
2. What sources would you recommend for me to ace my IELTS? I'd love for me to have like an 8.0 in all tests..
3. If you could help me, I'd appreciate if I can join a WhatsApp or telegram community of pharmacists willing to travel..

If I do well in my evaluation exam, I know that I would be able to travel to Canada so as to complete the remaining processes and would be working part-time so I would be able to also raise funds for the other exams..

I'm currently working and gathering funds and I want to take the exams one at a time. I know that it's possible. I just want to try my best not to base in Nigeria as I'm still young and fresh..

I'd be really grateful if you could help me..

why do pharmacists want to japa?

community pharmacists are making a hell of money in this country, more than they will ever make in Europe or America nau.

1) There are various education providers for the exams such as Pharmachieve, Misbah, PharmaEpass etc. They can be pricey but offer a structured revision content which is helpful. DYOR on each platform before paying
2) E2 Language (paid subscription if you can as well) Check them out on youtube first and lots of practise tests
3) None that i know of

Good day house, I'm a pharmacy final year student (ESUT) and ever since my 100L I've always had the dream to Japa precisely to Canada.
Based on this thread I can give my 2 cent on immigration to Canada as a Nigerian pharmacist.

Firstly the goal is getting permanent residence(pr) . The first step is having your international passport. Then you can go ahead with your document evaluation.
You go to the PEBC website (Canada version of PCN) then you pay for your napra I.d which is about 380$ CAD (price changes) then you get your id and pay for your document to be evaluated ($780) .

The document you'll be sending is your passport, birth certificate, letter of good standing (this will be sent by PCN)

Then you go to your university and tell them to send your transcript to pencil themselves.

The evaluation period can take up to atleast 6-8 weeks . After you've been confirmed and evaluated you can now go for your English exam(IELTS or ceplip) . The aim is to max out your score so you can get maximum score.
Evaluating your Bpharm or pharm D with pebc will make your degree give you point for a master / professional degree.

Once you've written your English exam you can enter the express entry pool.
You'll get your CRS score, healthcare workers use the healthcare stream.
You have to work with your age, work experience, your English score. To be very competitive for the draw you have to learn french and write the exam
If your less than 30 yrs and you max your English exam and you reach a certain score in french (I think B2) you can reach up to 500 in your CRS score and whenever the draw results come out you'll almost be certain you'll get invitation to apply (ITA).

The journey isn't over yet but this is a major milestone in your journey.

During the process of waiting in the pool you need to start arranging your proof of funds(POF) as you need bank statement of up to 6 months.
For one person going to Canada you need POF of about $15,623. The price increases with number of family.

You can also get the money through deed of gift too.

After your ITA you'll be given 60 days to bring your biometric, medicals, police report , work experience ,POF and any other document

Amount for all will be around $1200 CAD.
After submitting all these you wait for the major news.
This is where you have faith and pray lol

Then you can get COPR- confirmation of permanent residence.

My head is blurry on the rest but your visa will be sent for stamping and sent back to you.
All these cancer take up to 6-8 months after your ITA.

Then you arrange for your accommodation, flight etc.

Welcome to Canada as a pharmacist 😅.

Here then based on the province you chose you can now start job hunting for pharmacy assistant roles.

You can be working as a pharmacy assistant while preparing for your relicensing exams
Evaluation exam (EE)
MCQ
Osce

This can be tough for international pharmacy graduates (IPGs)
The pass mark for IPGs is about 40%

You can choose to write them at your own pace while working and understanding pharmacy practice.
I've seen people write and pass all three of them in 12-13 months
So it depends on how much you want it.

The major thing is leaving this Nigeria first.
As a pharmacist in Canada your salary already puts you in the top 8-10% of the population in Canada.

I wish everyone goodluck in achieving their various dreams.

There are telegram groups with very like-minded people and hundreds to thousands of Nigerians like me who want this dream fulfilled.
You can't do this journey alone.

Sorry for any typo

If you've got any telegram link where like-minded people are at, could you drop it though?
Thanks in anticipation..
