Carry along, the originals of all the documents you uploaded.
Use Paper clips to hold one photocopy behind each original and arrange them according to the checklist so the interviewer don't bounce you quickly.

You will be asked questions like;
1. Do you speak German?
2. Why Germany?
3. Do you have a reference
4. If Yes, Provide details.
5. Do you have any other friend or relative in Germany?
6. If yes, give details about them.
7. Do you already have job offer?
8. If you don't get a job within the period, what will you do?
9. Why Germany?
10. What will you be doing in Germany?
11. Where will you be living in Germany?
12. How long do you intend to stay in Germany?
13. Have you been to Germany before?
14.Have you been to any other European country before?
15 If yes, for what purpose?
15. Have you been applying for jobs in Germany already?

Basically, your answer leads to the next question.
Your course of study will determine the type of question you will be asked on the Written test.
Make sure you have a photocopy of all the document you already uploaded.

As you approach the Consulate area, some guys around will try to convince you to do extra copies of documents you already have or will try to convince you to pay a token to keep your phone for you. Just ignore them. Switch it off when you get to the gate, and as soon as you are admitted in, they will put your phone and other valuables in a locker.

Before you are allowed in, the security will check your printed appointment confirmation and stamp the time of arrival, so make sure to arrive 30 minutes or more before your appointment time. Just follow every instruction from the security and you will be fine.

Make sure to use the phone while speaking so the interviewer doesn't keep repeating Himself/Herself. I didn't realize that early and it made the interviewer repeat himself several times. I pray to receive a positive response from the Consulate.

Lastly, the interviewer won't ask you for any document you didn't upload.

Wish you all the Best.

Did you take any additional documents with you apart from the ones you submitted online, like work-related documents or anything similar? If yes, which ones?

Hey Hey. I've been okay. So the first thing I did was to find my way to the city center and got a number with telekom and paid for a prepaid subscription. I then proceeded to open a Revolut bank account. I looked for appointment dates to register my anmeldung and couldn't find one close to me so I booked an appointment in another district. Went for the appointment and got my anmeldung in under 10 minutes. I recently got a job and realized that the DR Walter's health insurance does not provide you with an SVNR(social security number) so I had to register with a public health insurance(registered with TK) and government office sent me my SVNR. I currently need to switch from the opportunity visa to a Blue card so I'm running around looking for an appointment before my start date which is next week. Anyone who can help should please reach out.

I did not use a blocked account so I can't help with that.

As for accommodation, I had it all sorted out before I even got to Germany. The landlord has to put your name plate on your mailbox so you can get letters like your tax id, SVNR, insurance number, insurance card, deliveries, e.t.c

As for my job search, I was fortunate to get a job with the first company I interviewed with. I'm an iOS developer so the interview was first a HR interview, a 90 minutes live coding session and "meet the team". I got a job in 6 weeks of being here. If I could do it, you can as well.

Let me know if you're curious about anything else
One the day of your interview, did you take any additional documents with you apart from the ones you submitted online, like work-related documents or anything similar? If yes, which ones?

Yes, got confirmation that I can send twice or more from expatrio. But can't download the "06 confirmation" until I have transferred the full amount.
Omo, na the address verification me and dem cardremit dey drag since morning o. I have uploaded my pants and intestine, e no gree. It's been back and forth with the customer care. I'm tired.
Hi boss good day, I have some questions please as I’m in a similar situation as you, trying to fund my Expatrio account and I’ve setup my CadRemit account.
Did you end up using CadRemit to fund your BA ?
If using CadRemit , when initiating the transfer from Expatrio, would the country the fund is coming from still be Nigeria ?

What of the who is transferring the money ? Myself or someone else ?
how long did it take for the money to reflect in your BA ?

Yes, I used the cardremit app to transfer my funds to my BA on expatrio. Yes,the country of origin is Nigeria, I don't even think you need to worry yourself about that. Once the funds are in your cardremit account, you just go to the transfer section and input the amount you want to transfer in either the euro or naira box, and the equivalent (based on the exchange that day) will automatically appear in the other box. Input your Iban from expatrio and automatically too, your details (name and all) will appear in the receiver's box. Then hit transfer.
It actually took less than a minute in my case for it to appear on my expatrio dashboard, I was so happy. I should probably have come back to thank @Sid57 for the advice. So yea, it's seamless.

Thanks so much for the breakdown. There’s one bit I’m still confused about. When I want to generate the account from Expatrio, they first asked me where the funds will be coming from, selected Nigeria, then after they asked if the funds will be coming directly from me or someone else. What should I pick in this scenario is my question or am I doing something wrong ?

Ok, so the question is straight forward... since the cardremit account you are going to be using to send the funds will be in your name (I'm assuming you opened the account yourself), just pick the option that the funds will be coming directly from you. NB: make sure the cardremit account name, tallies with the name on your expatrio account.
I think I was asked thesame question.

Hello everyone, pls is there a WhatsApp group? I've started the process but there is very sparse information.
I have received my statement of comparability from ZAB, and I got an email asking me to upload my documents. However, I'm in Abuja where online application is not possible.
So my questions:
1. Do I fill out the form and submit physically to the German mission in Abuja?

2. In filling out the form there is a section for Reference, and it says for work visa it has to be an educational establishment/coy/organization.
Since I do not have a job there yet, what do I fill for that section?

3. What's the best provider to use for the blocked account?
Pls anyone who has done theirs or has details, do share !
I am also trying to apply from Abuja and facing your exact situation, how did you go about the application please with respect to the bolded?

Good morning noble men and women. I submitted my application in August 19th and have been on waiting list since then. My SL will expire by end of this October, is it possible to get a new extended SL from my sister who lives in Germany and can the SL be issued for like one year period?
Thanks to everyone who keeps giving us tips for a successful journey to land the Opportunity Card- Remain blessed 🫡🫡🫡

From my knowledge you cant apply from abuja unless youre a "special person" so like someone big in politics etc. Unless thats changed you have to apply in lagos

Nothing to worry about since you're still on the waiting list.

When you cross to preliminary review stage, you'll be allowed to update your documents so you can always get a new SL from your sister and upload it on the portal...

I believe the Lagos Consulate is the default processing center on the digital portal for the Chancenkarte visa in Nigeria.

As for other categories of visa (tourist etc), you can still apply in Abuja if you reside in the North or fall within some special categories.

Please, is there anyone here who has successfully used a Trade Test certificate to apply for the Germany Opportunity Card (Chancenkarte) or ZAB recognition?

I want to know if the Trade Test I, II, and III can be accepted for recognition and what the process looks like from Nigeria.

Did you apply directly to ZAB or use an agency?

Kindly share your experience or guide me.
Re: Migrating To Germany For Free : The Chancekarte Discussions by Optics11: 8:02pm On Oct 15, 2025
I have Trade Test I, II, and III certificates (government approved) and my WAEC result.

I’m currently trying to apply for the Germany Opportunity Card (Chancenkarte) to move to Germany and work.

I want to ask:

1. Has anyone here successfully used Trade Test certificates for their Germany Opportunity Card or ZAB recognition?

2. How did you process the recognition (ZAB) from Nigeria?

3. Did you use any agency or direct application?

4. How long did it take to get your ZAB or recognition certificate?

5. Can someone recommend a reliable agent or guide for this process?

I’ve already done the Quick Check on Make it in Germany, and it says I can apply for the Opportunity Card.

Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated 🙏

Thanks in advance.

Did anyone in Nigeria successfully get their Trade Test recognised by ZAB?

2. How long did your ZAB recognition process take?

3. Did you have to post your original certificates, or were scanned copies enough?

4. How did you pay the €150 ZAB fee from Nigeria (Remitly, Wise, or someone in Germany)?

5. Which documents did ZAB ask for apart from the Trade Test certificates?

6. How did you get proof of employment — did your company issue a letter?

7. What happened after ZAB recognised your certificate — did you use it for a visa?

8. Has anyone had their ZAB application rejected? What reason did they give?

Anyone heard back from ZAB past three months? I sent in an application on 6th of July and nothing yet till date. It will be three months exactly tomorrow.
Hey Chief, just a heads up from my experience with ZAB - they usually respond within a month or so. I waited for three months, thinking I'd get the letter, but turns out I was wrong. They actually sent me an email requesting some info, but it was in my ZAB inbox, not my Gmail! I only found at the expiration of the 3 months.

You might wanna check your ZAB inbox, could be sitting there waiting for you 😊

Hi everyone, I joined the wait list on the 24th of April and submitted my documents for preliminary review on the 2nd of September.
My application has been on preliminary review since 2nd Sept and a bit concerned. From what I gathered here most people, the preliminary review takes 1-2 weeks.
Any one with a similar situation or has past the preliminary stage recently should please share timelines
Have you gotten any feedback from them?
