They love to make one-sided comparison all the time. They do not have a life in that UK and are slaves to never ending bills.
Yeah right...!

And the 185k he was earning in Nigeria was more than enough for him?!! He was not paying bills and the money was excess... So excessive that he got bored and decided to relocate to a worse country like England.

You people just like invalidating people's personal experiences.

,

So, how was he able to save about 18Million Naira to move to UK since his monthly income was just N185,000.

Abi e dey thief? undecided
This is an average from perhaps 5-7 years ago. Travelling cost then would likely have been much less than 18m

Lol imagine you make 2500-3000 pounds monthly, I stay in 2bed 750 pounds monthly in the north, bills 250, that’s 1k, you have extra 1500, food and others 400, you are left with 1100 or 1600 times 2000 naira, calculate

Imagine having a wife that earns at least 2k-2500

You both can save 2500-3000 monthly, 30k to 35k yearly. Once both of you are stable. Imagine they blth do this for 5 years, during the 5 years, invest it in property and s&p 500 stocks investment, do it for another 5 years, 10 years they have both built mult million dollar portfolio.

You really don’t know how abroad works.

uk has over 3m people who are millionaires in dollars,

Nigeria has 8100, add all the thieves who are politicians and pastors, add all the rest thieves, 100k, them no reach uk 10%

In a population ratio of 60m+ to 220m+

Uk has over 175 billionaires in dollars and Nigeria 4

London is the 2nd financial capital of the world slightly behind New York.

You can fact check.

This dude is prolly poor at Economics. You don't flatly compare earnings in diff countries with diff currencies, you consider purchasing power, tax and other factors that can influence potential savings at the end of each month/year
If he's happy enough to declare his testimony, then definitely he has experienced a better standard of living. Numbers aside, he has experienced something better

He should also compare the bills and tax!

Does he know his entire annual salary in Nigeria is the mortgage or rent for what you can call home in the UK?

How many people live in homes in the UK? Many reside in Kennels called homes. Small things we can’t call BQ in Nigeria.

Does he know price of energy and taxes that follow after those numbers he quoted?

I am not saying Nigeria is better than the UK, but the true reality of the difference is not much.

Do you know the cost of living same life you were living in Nigeria under that low salary, with that of the UK?

Many can’t even live that life. It’s a party after party champagne campaign in Nigeria with the lowest we earn. We build houses to taste and own outrightly. We not chased by banks.
After comparing everything, he lives a better life over there and his life expectancy over there is above that of Nigeria there is no debate on this at all.

Would he be able to get into Medical School in the UK in the first place and if so will he be able to afford the tuition?

Most of these ingrates don't know the FG and States actually subsidize Medical school in Nigeria .

Let him go to the US and see his mates still struggling to pay off their student loans.

Ogbeni close your dirty mouth and call a spade by its name. How can a medical doctor be earning 185k a month? Even if his tax bills are high at least he is enjoying what he paying for. Is the price of energy cheap here, I'm paying 209.50 for a unit on band A yet I've spent 175k fueling my generator. I once visited a general Hospital, and I saw people sleeping outside on tents, no power. Only 1 doctor attending to over 18 patients in a ward. Folks like you are taking this country backward due to your blinded support.
wait ooo.which state is he collecting 175k per month na en me I wan reason oo.a house job (new Doctor post graduation) earns more than that a month .so am interested in the hospital he earn that meagre amount.
Some of my guys in NGO earn up to 1.4M naira per month here up North with other small small allowances too.

My one month house rent where I dey hide is double my one year 3 bedroom apartment rent in Lagos Naija...

That peko he compare so nor get value for London but for Naija the value nah over multiple if you look the exchange rate LoL

Why the comparisons? Cost of living is different in both countries, for instance, how much do they pay for rent in the UK and how much is rent in Nigeria? Many of us are carried away by the illusion of the exchange rate.

Because many have been brainwashed to believe there is a better life there. They convert GBP to Naira in their head forgetting they don’t spend Naira in UK.

Wrong calculations is what has landed many into a journey of no return.

Someone lifting boxes in UK will tell you he is making over 1 million Naira a month, ask him his bills and tax and you will find out what’s left and he even still can’t afford that life he was living in Nigeria

Read my post, once they gain balance, have their visas sorted, you don’t expect that in 1 year.

And many have that in their investment portfolio

So many, so so many. Research again.

That’s reality man. You can’t have a proper visa and not save that.

I single-handedly sorted my dad cancer journey of over 30m plus, when he died, I took care of the burial as well, which job for Nigeria wan give me tha one ? Ask yourself.

Always comparing salaries...it is a weird take.

They want to become millionaires because they are doctors without factoring the fact that they come from a poor country.

How do you expect hospitals in Nigeria to pay you uk or us salary rate when they themselves don't make up to 10m naira every month

You want to be paid proper salaries but the company you are working for does not even earn enough to run their facilities
Oga, how much do you pay politicians? How much do you pay ex governors? Nigeria is ready to waste billions on people who contribute little or nothing, but pay peanut to essential workers.

sir, you ended up saying nothing. His comparison is very right. What he did was compare the wage of the same profession in different countries. A person who earns a minimum wage in UK can pay bills, live healthy and still access basic necessities of life. What can your minimum wage in Nigeria guarantee an average worker?

A minimum wager in Nigeria can't even afford to feed, let alone pay bills.

DyshApp:
A Nigerian medical doctor has stirred serious buzz online after comparing his earnings in Nigeria to what he now earns in the United Kingdom.

According to the doctor, identified as Dr. Tolu, he spent 7 years working in Nigeria without ever earning up to ₦185,000 monthly, even while juggling multiple jobs.

He revealed that after finishing medical school, he moved back in with his parents and lived with them till he was almost 30 years old — without owning a car.

However, after saving up to write the required exams and moving to the UK, his 6-month salary abroad reportedly surpassed his entire 7-year earnings in Nigeria.

Here’s what he wrote on X (formerly Twitter):

https://x.com/tolubinutu/status/1979021061573206219?t=Ug1tTovARqx5rkcb3tBEdQ&s=19

This revelation has sparked discussions about the state of healthcare salaries in Nigeria, brain drain, and why many Nigerian professionals are relocating abroad for better pay and work conditions.

Is the UK really that much better, or is it just hype?
Sometimes I wonder why people keep comparing salaries in Nigeria and the UK. In the UK, the average salary a Healthcare Support Worker earn in the UK is £2074 after tax and that's over 4 million Naira. If you live in a low cost area, rent is about £450-520 per month, groceries £50 to 100, clothing, use vinted or temu. If you are someone that's meticulous without a family yet, you can save quiet a lot even after sending money to family back in naija. No matter what, UK is still the best buy. grin cheesy cheesy grin
