The below statement by DHQ confirmed that there was indeed a coup attempt:

"The decision regarding the cancellation of 65th independence anniversary parade was to allow Mr President attend a strategic bilateral meeting outside the country and for members of the AFN to sustain the momentum on the fight against terrorism, insurgency and banditry."

DHQ don't even know how to lie, Tinubu was in Lagos on 1st October Independence Day and in National Theater now renamed The Wole Soyinka Center for Culture and Creative Arts with Wole Soyinka himself in attendance.

Tinubu even confirmed it himself that "He had a good night sleep on Independence day"

How DHQ came up with the lie that cancellation of 65th independence anniversary parade was to allow Mr President attend a strategic bilateral meeting outside the country is the required confirmation that there was indeed a coup attempt on Tinubu. They couldn't even explain the detention of sixteen officers out of the blue.

Irony1:
You are asking for tribalism traits when he resumed office. Look at the skewed nature of all his appointments. That one is enough proof
Hahahahaha bro wake up stop allowing hatred to ruin your personality pls you can do better.

The three most powerful minister under Tinubu only Ojo Ade is Yoruba man. Is Wike and Umahi from SW?

In millitary heads Naval chief is from where? Pls go and dig out Gej and Buhari era appointment do the comparison.

Pls drop the list of all his skewed tribalist appointment and let me counter it bring them out?

In a real sense Tinubu even did well for considering given SE any portfolio because a region who gave 95% of their votes to opposition seriously under politics deserves nothing but he never did so. Remember obi chose his campaign team of 146 people during 2023 bruhaha only 3 SW in 146 names, 3 North in 146 names but the rest are SE and few SS and to you such nepostic dead beat fit for president? Go get the list you will see what I'm saying.

Mr man, look, I don't just support somebody anyhow I will study everything sabout the person and draw my conclusion sorry to tell you in appointment Tinubu far better than our brother Gej and Buhari. Take it or leave it go back to all Gej appointment and Buhari appointment then do the judgement yourself, Good day time for work.

1. By August 2022, debt was eating 90% of our revenue....and a large part of that was subsidy. Plus, the PIA signed in 2021, promised that subsidy would be gone by June 2023 at the latest. Guess you guys were not paying attention

Keep subsidy, and our debt would be high.

2.As for tax...our budget was planned based on the fact that oil would remain at least at 75 dollars per barrel...and even at that GOVT had to borrow 13 trillion naira. OIl has been below 70 dollars since last week of January. Also, oil has been consistently below our fiscal breakeven price, and we are relying on 1.8million bpd...which is enough for a nation of 2 million at best...not 230 million.

And IMF is basically hinting they won't borrow us more money unless...

So, taxes. Yes, tinubu government is bad, but if atiku or obi won, based on the above facts, would you let them borrow more money, or raise money from taxation?

This is not about politics, it is about realism, and the fact that we have been pretending we are as rich as Saudi when we ain't for decades. Years of pretence have caught up with us.
Let them find other ways to raise money must it be tax & borrowing?

Diversifying the economy will take some time, mind you. Also, it is subject to the issue of 'we don't control the price'

Ditto industrialization

So, taxes. (and some borrowing, until we raise enough revenue internally)

Whenever a dangerous politician wants to nail oppositions coup is the first allegation, diverting attentions from trivialising appointments and over- bloated contracts, using coup allegation to cover up pains and anguish of the masses. You people should mention the former southern governor.

That is a "mumu" way to run a country
No economic diversification
No will to develop other resources : Humans, solid minerals, Agriculture they kick pdp out claiming they have d solutions.they are clueless on how to run a country.

1.This is getting more and more interesting. Now Daily Trust, which is a respectable newspaper, is reporting there was or may have been, or allegedly, a coup in the works.

2.Former Southern governor....involved. Looks like 1982 is back...

3.And then, DT says officers haven't been named, when allegedly, the names are out there

4.Still, I won't wish a coup on nigeria...if we want change, either we get a united opposition effort to win in 2027, or a revoultion led from the ground up by the people, with a refusal to allow it to be hijacked by the elites or the army. Simple and short.
If Tinubu doesn't get a second term, then the country breaks up. Its Yorubas turn.

This is so lame to believe. Try reading about previous coup de tat and you'll understand this is not possible.

A former governor who is suspected in a coup has been left unarrested for the last 2 weeks .

Weldone Daily Trust.

Dont mind those Nigerians, truth be told Nigeria is a very broke nation. but those people choose to live in delusion that they are rich. hence the reason they expect the governmnet to ffed them, cloth them and bath them.

While my own sources, who are close to other sources in the corridor of power, are adamant that there was no attempted coup, DaddyJP is keeping an open mind.

So who is this former Southern governor who was once an operative in the Oil & Gas sector bah? Let's see who the likely candidates are. Who allegedly dunnit?

Rashidi Ladoja - Worked for Total Nigeria for 13 years in various positions?
Emmanuel Uduaghan - Medical Doctor, worked at Shell Hospital in Warri?
Orji Kalu - Founded and chaired SLOK Holding, a conglomerate with interests in the O&G sector?
Godwin Obaseki - Co-founder of Afrinvest, a leading financial investment company with significant focus on that sector?
Clement Ebri - Actually worked for NNPC early in his career (according to sources)?
James Ibori - Consultant to NNPC and also marketing executive with Klein and Benson, a company that provides services to the Oil & Gas sector?
Donald Duke - Legal Counsel and Company Secretary to Claridon Nigeria Limited (O&G servicing company)?
Peter Obi - Chairman of board of Next International Limited, a company with interests in the O&G sector?
Goodluck Jonathan - Former Assistant Director of Environemntal Protection and Pollution Control at Oil Mineral Producing Areas Development Commission (OMPADEC)?

The way the military is structured, it will be difficult for officers to carry out a successful coup without involving the commanding officers of all the services who are in charge of troops.

So, you want to jump into the fire of army rule then?

Don't do politics of bitterness. Remember, if tinubu supporters had been successful in their coup aspirations in 2014, their man won't have been president, and we would have had another Abacha in charge.

Guess you prefer being run by maximum autocrats.

As for me, despite the fact that I regard both APC and PDP as the same and am angry with the way our democracy is being run, just as I did in 2014, I do today. No to coup. Let everyone mock me.

P.S Oga, it is also strange that the army you blast for being ineffective against boko and for dealing with innocent people are the same people you trust to run a good government. LOL.

Join a party and work for change from within. A coup will just make matters worse, and may backfire on you and most nigerians.
At the bolded. Are you just realizing that Nigerians do not care about good governance? Behind their anger is the frustration that the sitting president is not who they want, so they'd rather everything burn to the ground. Classic case of if I don't get it, then they should lose it.
Everyone knows the country is struggling and if nothing drastic is done to address revenue shortages, things will continue to get worse, no matter who's in power. We can't afford to add authoritarian rule to our suffering, because I'm certain things will remain bad even if the military takes over.

Even then, going from bad civllian to bad army is not the answer.

Solution...it's in the name participatory democracy.

Military coup is what Nigeria needs or let me say Africa continent. Democracy is alien to us. It’s an ideology sold by the West to puppets in Africa to keep our people in bondage. Why do you think most of the Western governments are always in anger when there is a military coup in Africa? It’s all about their interest. Anything to piss off the colonial masters is welcome by me. Military coup like I said, is what we need at the moment.
The man you mentioned clearly told you, if the military can not effectively flush out bokoharam, then what benefits are they bringing to the table, military rule is backwardness.
