U.S.-Based Nigerian Mother Arrested for Murder After 9-Year-Old Daughter Dies in Hot Car

Authorities in Texas have arrested a U.S.-based Nigerian woman, Gbemisola Akayinode, 36, for the murder of her 9-year-old daughter, Oluwasikemi Akayinode, who d+ed after being left inside a hot car.

According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the child’s death was ruled a h%micide caused by hyperthermia (heat stroke). Investigations revealed that Oluwasikemi was left in the vehicle for more than eight hours on July 1, while her mother went to work at a manufacturing plant in Galena Park, near Houston, on a day when temperatures reached 99 degrees.

There's no excuse. Very cruel to leave a child in a hot car. She could've gotten a babysitter for her at home or something. Sounds like she didn't go out to check on her all day either, like she just left her in the hot, burning car all day. Yeah, murder sounds about right. Wickedness.

This almost happened to me in 2016 when I left my three year old daughter in the car to pick up something inside the house and my phone ranged. I started answering the call. and I completely forgot that I had a three year old daughter in the car

My 9 year old daughter knows how to open/unlock my car.. infact, she has her own keys to the house and would just open and enter anytime she comes back from school and no one is at home.

Even if she was going to do that, she could have just kept the engine running. That like have come with a lesser charge and death would have been eliminated.
