Till now he is yet to complete the payment of 35k wage awards to civil servants he did not even bother to pay the 25k to pensioners,this is before the introduction of minimum wage even the minimum wage, there are so much backlog of arrears he is yet to pay and you will wonder what he has been doing with all the revenue he claimed he is earning

Why? How does this help? How does it change the fact that a loan was taken to buy trucks that are not being used , and will cost.more.money to service or repair due to lack of use for so long.

Meanwhile we still need to.pay back the loan with interest. Only.a foolish or corrupt business man will not start putting their loan to work as soon as they receive it, because the money has a time.frame..

Tinubu has been and will continue to be a failure in governance even though he may be a brilliant politician who knows how to steal money to buy votes.

Officials in the Ministry of Agriculture are taking bribes right now from those who will eventually get these tractors. Some, maybe MOST of these vehicles will be resold to serious farmers in Nigeria and South Africa and all over the world.

Nigerians have to learn to eschew socialism. It simply doesn't work. Especially in diverse nations.

Try free markets...grant and protect PROPERTY rights, deregulate prices and market access. Nigeria already has a 25 year record of success.

And Mr President cannot question the present minister of Agric about this development. And if he cannot provide answers sack him immediately and replace him with someone that has action. This is quite unfortunate. We still have a lot of things pending and hanging at the federal level from different ministries. What supposed to come to people at the grassroot level is not reaching them because of these corrupt ministers we assume to have in Nigeria. Only few of the ministers are active.

It’s really frustrating to see such a huge investment in agriculture lying idle while farmers struggle on the field. N50 billion worth of tractors and equipment could have transformed productivity, reduced the high cost of labour, and encouraged youth participation in farming, yet bureaucracy is holding everything back.

Mechanisation isn’t just about delivering machines, it’s about timely deployment, maintenance, and proper training for farmers. Delays like this risk missing the planting season entirely, which defeats the purpose of the initiative.

If Nigeria wants to truly boost agriculture and food security, there needs to be clear directives, faster implementation, and a sustainable plan for service centres and maintenance. Otherwise, these tractors will just gather dust, and the promise of agricultural independence will remain just that,a promise.

The mistake was in buying the tractors. Governments should not be involved in tractor purchases. Farmers should form cooperative groups (See Land O'Lakes and Fonterra) amongst themselves, run it like a company and buy whatever they want to buy. Alternatively, partner with a major offtaker, either a major exporter or food companies. The food company then provides tractors at subsidised rates to the farmers in return for the continuous supply of agri-raw materials.

Governments, especially in ethnically diverse countries, should not participate in businesses. Their operations should be very limited.

For free? Or rent it for a small fee so others can also rent it when you don't need it. And the small fees can be used in maintaining the equipment.
