Probably avoiding Care Centres fees, can't leave the child home alone because it is America and can't take her to work and school were on holidays then.

And Texas was bloody hot that time.

This story here is a painful one, very painful one. In this case, I think it is carelessness on the part of the women. I even read online that she sedated the child!

As for the Father nit being heard or seen in the picture, a lot could be imagine and if care is not taken, our assumptions can lead us to judge wrongly.

The Father could be an absentee one, he could be in another State hustling or even still in Nigeria (there are many cases as such), he could be dead etc. As a matter of fact. We don't know and trying to fill that part, we might just be wrong. Also, Disaporean should always build support system in their communities. I know it is hard from the stories we hear of their struggles but they shouldn't stop trying.

This incident is one of the many brute reality of Migrants in the States as elsewhere.

May God heal the woman, comfort her because the Anerican justice system will most likely punish her.

I was cooking meals, washing myself and going to school that's about 2kms from my house alone, did all of these at 9. There was this day when my uncle had some police issues and was really scared and confused, he decided to come late in the evening to tell my mum he'd appreciate it if she followed him to the invitation he got from the police, so my mum had instructed me to put some water in the kettle, boil and pour in the flask for my little sister's use when she gets back.
I woke up and she had already left, I knew where she went and quickly remembered the instruction she gave the day before, i immediately went to the kitchen, saw the kettle on the stove, assuming it was empty and not hot, I picked it up like I'd pick an empty cool kettle, this stove was about my height, I ended up spilling hot water on my face and chest, as my mum had already boiled the water and filled the flask, the quantity left in the big kettle was what I spilled on myself.
No one was home, in pains, I ran to the bedroom, turned on the fan, the pain got worse as the fan spinned, somehow I managed, my mum came back to find me on the bed, it was a hot afternoon, she instructed to take off my shirt, i did and that was when she saw my face and the skin that came off with the shirt, healing took weeks and till this day the scar is still visible to whoever looks at me very carefully.
A 9 year old is still a child, far from being an adult, and yeah when they say 99 degrees they do not mean 99 degrees Celsius, the unit is Fahrenheit, similar occurrences have happened, it is not the first.

Where did you read that they are convinced? Sometimes they charge with the highest degree (murder) knowing there is room to go for a lower charge (Manslaughter) it does not mean they are convinced. And even if they are convinced, it does not mean they are right .

Yes, you're correct, a 9 year old is a child BUT a 9 year old is not a baby.
Accident can happen at anytime, even when the parents are at home

Your words are understandable. Though you shouldn't characterize the American immigrant experience as brutal. It's actually a beautiful life that simply requires some planning and willingness to adapt.

A dedicated married couple should be able to handle childcare in the USA. Families do it everyday.

This is a sad situation.

The reason why we are raising irresponsible adults is we over pamper them. What the person you responded described above can happen to an adult.

A 9 year old should be intelligent enough to handle being home alone. That said what happened to this 9 yr old is not due to age but the sedative medicine given to her. The windows were wound down half way. She died because she was knocked out. It could have happened to an adult.

Like you said a 9yr old is not a baby. Treating them like babies is why they grow up irresponsible adults.

Maybe she has done it before and it worked. But this is very careless of her. At least use some people in your community or cycle (and pay them even if it’s quarter of what you’d earn from work)

My 9 year old daughter knows how to open/unlock my car.. infact, she has her own keys to the house and would just open and enter anytime she comes back from school and no one is at home.

The fuel you will run within those 8 hours is almost or more than the shift money. My point is , don't go to another man's land to surfer, if its not working , come back home honorably then you can go again when your children are grown. Even getting a nanny is almost more than what she will earn in a month as a foreigner , this slave trade promax we call japa is getting out of hand. At the end of the day you will not sleep inside two rooms or drive two cars at the same time , and you won't eat more than your belly so what is the main goal of chassing this money at all cost.

Being a second class citizen in another man's land is not funny at all. This thing doesn't usually happen to the citizens of the country because they have extended families. at the end of the day we are not designed to leave alone, we need each other for cases like this but that won't happen in foreign country when your family and inlaws are far away. Leaving your country to another man's land to surfer is one thing I do not understand except you are on exile from your own country .
