She definitely forgot that the child was in the car ,such an incident has happened so many times in America, she's not the first and won't be the last.

I really sympathise with this woman. She could have talked to some people for help but then we are told that help doesn't come in this form abroad.

Here in Nigeria, there are many safety nets you can fall back on. You can leave your child with a neighbour, relatives etc while you go out and work.

Nigerians are very judgemental and they do worse things.
Some of those safety nets are still available here but limited. Like the example that I gave, fire stations provide some temporary or some hours relief.
They are even trying to upgrade how fire stations can help you have what is called "Safe Haven Baby Box" where you can drop baby that you don't want instead of abandoning them. Around Houston in Harris County they are at The Woodlands, Tomball and Magnolia fire stations. You can cover your face to hide your identity while dropping the baby.

Bro I know the woman very well we live on the same street, I was one of the people that went to Harris County jail to see her. She couldn't afford to pay for a baby sitter. She actually left her engine running with the air conditioner on unfortunately the air conditioner developed a fault and stopped working while the engine was still running.
Her mistakes- She could talk to someone or some baby sitters they will take child while she pays later.
She can take the child to fire Station, there are provisions for that.
So she made a big mistake, she didn't even tell any of us on the street. Regardless she is not a wicked woman, she didn't plan killing her child it was just one unforseen circumstance with the car air-conditioning system. Regardless she was wrong!

I say professional because you and I know that Nigerian plumbers mechanics and carpenters etc are quacks, they have no trade certifications like C&G etc, or skills that are transferable. we only manage them here because we have to, even here we prefer tradesmen from Benin republic.

Both your answers are contradictory. First you say it is obvious to the cops. Then you say she did it because she knows it will not be obvious to the cops.

What makes it an obviously dumb strategy is because she can be directly linked to the death, wether intentional or not.

Also police doesn't have to "believe" to charge you. They work based on prima facies (preliminary) evidence to charge, knowing they may not have the full picture yet.

And a charge is just that, a charge especially from the police end. The attorney general can still amend the charge with additional evidence.

That they believe doesn't make then right. Do you know how many people have spent decades in prison based on false accusations in America? Hundreds.

There is a reason the Law says "Innocent until proven guilty" , even the prosecution knows that. But you seem OK with "guilty until proven Innocent" Are you?

According to the Article and other online sources, the windows were slightly wound down and also it was reported that she sedate the child so that she could sleep a bit longer (she going in for 8 hours shift at the Factory) provided her with an hand held fan.

It is just unfortunate that the girl died on this particular occasion( she confessed to have done same before)

It is a sad episode.

May the Good Lord console her and heal her to for I can imagine war going on within her now.

When she left work, she found the child unresponsive and screamed for help. Her daughter was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

According to court documents, the medical examiner's office found the young girl's body temperature was 108 degrees. They said her cause of death was hyperthermia.

Court documents revealed Akayinode admitted it wasn't the first time she left her daughter alone in the car while she went to work. According to court documents, she did it the day before and admitted to a total of about four times.

She claimed she couldn't pay for day care until she received her paycheck. However, court documents said a coworker claimed he was helping her with money because he knew she was struggling to make ends meet.

Investigators asked Akayinode if she had checked the weather or if she knew how hot it was going to be outside. According to court documents, she said she didn't and that it slipped her mind.

This almost happened to me in 2016 when I left my three year old daughter in the car to pick up something inside the house and my phone ranged. I started answering the call. and I completely forgot that I had a three year old daughter in the car

She didn't forget a damn thing, she willingly admitted she's done it the day before and at LEAST 2 other times outside of that. If the child was developmentally disabled she could've gotten state funded help with her. No excuse.

Hello, The car will not respond when the key fob is away.

It a well known skill among people who do it. Why she couldn’t keep the car running.

9 years old is not kindergarten, it's 3rd or 4th grade. Most kids know how to start a car, lock and unlock it, have their own keys to the house by that age but I think this girl was developmentally disabled which is even sadder. We also don't pay for school here unless it's private school or college, she could've gotten both supportive services and childcare for free. There are no school fees, she should've been in school or a program fit for her needs. A cousin of hers in the YouTube comment section of the story said she was too ashamed to ask for help. Not sure how true that is but she also said the father was still in nigeria.
