After 3 years and 4 months with a digital health company — where I grew from a Customer Success Coordinator to a Field Account Executive — I received the difficult news today that my role has been affected by a company-wide restructuring due to funding challenges from donors.

This is my first experience being on this side of a layoff. In the past, I’ve always been the one making the decision to move on. But this time, it hit differently — especially with family responsibilities, school fees, and no immediate health insurance coverage. The uncertainty is real, and so is the anxiety.

Still, I’m choosing to look at this as a pause, not an end. I’m deeply grateful for the experiences, the impact we made in transforming primary healthcare through digital innovation, and the relationships built along the way.

For those who’ve walked this path before — how did you navigate the transition, both mentally and professionally?
Any advice or encouragement will be deeply appreciated.

1) What was your job role in the organization?
2) How much was your pay?
3) Where is your location?

You didn’t say anything about savings, investments and cumulative contributory pension you made over the period or were you just piling up liabilities over the period ni wink

It is always safe to plan for your exit day right from the day you join an organization so that you will always leave on your own terms with no surprises.

You will be fine and hopefully they could still call you back when donors change their mind.

All the best.

Welcome to the other side, surely you will survive.

I was laid off at end of first quarter earlier this year from a remote company. Yet, all gratitude belong to God, we are still surviving.

Earlier this morning, just had another promising interview which may leads to relocation.

Unfortunately, I can't pinpoint any investment or savings (a very big mistake). Had a chance for investment once, but blew over 2m in the wrong investment.

Sorry to hear sir, mine was a Hybrid job, I had so much time from it. One of things troubling my mind is that, will I get such job that gives so much time.

Dust yourself and move on. Life presents challenges. Count yourself lucky that you were laid off. Getting sacked would limit/eliminate opportunities to change workplace.

I understand how you feel. I too lost one of my biggest clients this year because of some unexpected problems from her work place. It's been difficult tho but you just have to be optimistic.

Discuss with your spouse and see if some expenses can be toned down. Start job hunting, reach out to potential prospects on your contact list and let them know what's up, they could help.

This is a tough phase sha. But you'll sure smile at the end. For now, we survive. Wishing you the best of luck.

With your experience. You will get another job. Don't beat yourself. Just calm down, relax and strategize

The advice I will give you is that since the job you have is not your family business, one can be sack any point in time, Pls always have this at back of your mind. No worker is indispensable

Assuming you have a side hustle apart from the company you were working before now, you won't have any cause to fear.

Bro drastically reduce your expenses, endeavor to live a moderate life.

If you have more than one car , keep one and sell others for investment opportunities which you have knowledge about.

Keep cool and be focus, with God Almighty on your side. You will surely survive the storm.
